New thread :). Thought I'd start this one like I ended the last one - Bertie crashed out after a busy day's mischief making.

Well, I need to wish you all a good nights sleep.
I have DGS tomorrow, and it looks like its raining all day.....
Thoughts and Prayers xx

Willow2017 · 05/06/2017 23:18

Cake oh I love a list (tbh I probably spend more time 'organising' than actually 'doing' Grin I will have several going by the end of the week just for the holiday packing, buying etc.

I agree it does kids good to be 'bored' it makes them use their imagination and remember the 7 million toys and games they have in their room or go off to the park instead. I do like to go off on days out with them but obviously we cant afford to do that every day so they just have to get on with it. Also as a cm we were taught that 'free play' is very important for kids to flex their imagination and playing together without adult interference. Its fun to watch them making up scenarios and stories. I remember being in an argument on a cm thread where one mum thought that as she was 'paying for care' that any cm she employed should spend the whole day glued to her child (never mind the others) even when they were asleep they would be expected to stand beside the pram and be playing with them every single minute they were awake! She was not impressed by the responses from cms and other mums alike!

All we need to be as mums is 'good enough for today' anything else is a bonus. So no more crap mum business. We are raising kids, the hardest job in the world, we are awesome Smile

Sleep tight everyone.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 06/06/2017 06:26

Morning all. I went to bed just after 9pm so had a decent chunk. Very stormy out there so I will be going to indoor play gym with the small after the school run. Do you have indoor stuff around book?

Hope everyone will have a good day x

JuanPotatoTwo · 06/06/2017 08:15

Morning everyone and what a stormy one. Well it is here anyway.

Seems a fitting day to have found out that dd and her boyfriend have finished :(. I'm so so sad, he was one of the family and was actually with us when Mark died. He's been such a stalwart over the last three months, but it's just not working for them anymore. We all just accepted they'd be together forever, they're having a house built together, his family are amazing, they've named they're first (as yet to be conceived) girl and boy etc. They're both very upset but I think, if they recognise their problems are insurmountable, this is the only solution :(. Mark liked him so much and was happy to think that his only dd was also happy and with someone who seemingly adored her.

Ds1's friend (the policeman) has been shown in lots of video clips on social media rescuing one of the first people to be attacked so that's a little something to be proud about. But just wondering now what else this year has in store for us - shouldn't tempt fate that way I suppose.

The delights of a food shop and then the plumber await me. Hope everyone else has good days.

Morning all.
Juan thats sad to hear, but I suppose its better to do it sooner rather than plod on knowing that they have difficulties in the relationship.

Well guess who got a txt from her credit card fraud dept this morning? The sobs have tried to get several lots of money out of that too. Thankfully they got nothing and card now blocked too. How the heck did they do it? Nobody seems to know. Think I will alert my prepaid holiday card peeps just in case.

I was going to go into town to get the shopping but its still raining here too, will have to get organised and push myself out the door later, not even dressed yet. Grin

bookbook · 06/06/2017 09:42

Morning
quick dip in - DGS and I have been building a lego space station ( thank goodness for instructions....) Cake - we have lots, - but I do think they need a good run around outside - we will just have to get wet :)
Juan - sadly, I suspect that the traumas of the last few months have tested the relationship beyond what they would have to have deal with normally . Maybe its a good thing that it has shown up the problems early enough to do something about it though truly heartbreaking ( I sometimes think you feel more when they are grown up - a kiss to make it better doesn't cut it :( )
Willow - its a right PITA - my dear sis had her contactless hacked - it was sorted quickly , but she has beed warned to get a special blocker thing? for her phone -( of course when I mentioned it to my kids, they all have them...)
Right - back to the coal face - wellies, wet weather gear and a trip to the shops soon

DramaAlpaca · 06/06/2017 09:58

Juan I'm really sorry to hear that your DD and her boyfriend have broken up. It must be very sad for you as well as for her, he sounds like he was very much part of the family.

Willow how trying for you, it's a real pain. It happened to us too recently, only a small amount but the bank were on to it, blocked the card & let us know before anything else could be taken.

Stormy day here too. Well, I'd better do some work, back later.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 06/06/2017 11:46

Oh no, what a blow to you all. Could hear how much he is/was part of your family. hugs to you and DD.

We got soaked this morning regardless of coats/wellies. Now in the dry with heating on. Book, I meant more like a soft play etc to burn off steam but stay dry - that's what we did!

JuanPotatoTwo · 06/06/2017 14:34

So many scammers out there - Willow you've really been targeted haven't you? Cake glad you got out of the rain - it's fairly bright here right now. Drama, he really was part of the family :( - all three of my boys loved him. We really need some good news in our house right now.

Dd's work are so good - they sent her home after first taking her aside and cuddling her. My heart is breaking for her - she's saying that the two men she loved the most have left her life this year. There's not a whole lot I can say to comfort her :(

I've just had a moment myself - went to make myself a cup of tea and found there were no clean spoons. So used a fork which is what Mark always used, regardless of whether or not there were any spoons. It was just one of those "how can he not be here?" minutes. The little things ...

Willow2017 · 06/06/2017 15:28

Your poor DD Juan, there isnt a lot you can do except hugs and listening ears.

Went to the bank and because they know me they said I could take whatever £ I need out the account so that was ok. Stupid online banking is also playing up but at least I got some £. Need money for the weekend as ds2 has martial arts grading in Edinburgh so will need petrol!

Still raining here pretty light at times then heavier, its a real pain and annoyingly not cold!

Off to get eldest from high school, the peace and quiet endeth....

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 06/06/2017 16:19

Very windy but bright sun now!

Hugs to you and DD x

Chasingsquirrels · 06/06/2017 17:10

Willow, the bank card scam is worrying. Glad that you managed to get some cash.

*Cake, you are so lovely - thanks for your enquiry on my thread about work. I think work is the only thing that is making any sense in my life at the moment. I'm still doing 3 x 5hr days, but I'm going to suggest I increase to 4 x 5hr days from the end of the month.

Juan, hugs to your dd. I can imagine the last few months have been very hard for both of them - but it's just another thing for her to have to deal with.

JuanPotatoTwo · 06/06/2017 17:15

I will pass on all hugs to dd, thank you. That is - I will pass them on if I survive this disgusting concoction ds2 has made and insisted I drink! It looks like green sludge and tastes like you'd expect green sludge to taste. Only worse.

OP posts:
Chasingsquirrels · 06/06/2017 17:31

Yuk yuk.
John got a nutribullet as part of his "doing everything to beat cancer" and had some disgusting looking concoctions. But he didn't persevere.

Willow2017 · 06/06/2017 18:11

What on earth is in rhe green sludge? sounds er er well disgusting 😀 if it looks disgusting and tastes disgusting then no good will come of it!

Somerville · 06/06/2017 18:48

DH1 did a lot of kale smoothies and nettle juicing and all that guff too. And I got more and more pissed off with alternative therapists and peddlers pf woo

I nipped to the cemetery in between rain showers and tidied the grave up. DD2 likes arranging wild flowers and bits of detritus driftwood in so called artistic patterns, and it always looks a terrible mess by a few days later. Smile

Sorry about your DD's relationship, Juan What a year for her and all of you... bless her.

daisychain01 · 06/06/2017 19:32

Crazy weather here, flash floods at work, my umbrella turned inside out running from the lobby to my car. Huge great big rainbow 🌈 visible over the hill. I sat at the cross roads as there were no cars about (after 6pm it's deserted round here 'in the sticks') and I made a wish on that rainbow for everyone's happiness on this thread and beyond. It seems like a God -given moment, so I grabbed the chance.

20 mins later, 1 miles from home the sun was out, bright blue skies and no hint of any rain... could that have been a MN wooooooo moment?....

I am so sorry about your DDs sad news juan This year has been an annis horribilis for lots of reasons. I hope we are over the half way point, and from now on it will only be good happy nice news, due to 🌈 and the odd 🦄 here and there.

Sorry about your bank card scam willow I hope the bank reimbursed you. Weirdly today at work we were plagued with not one but two phishing emails, which were from the mailbox of two very senior managers, but obviously hacked. Thank goodness everyone was sensible enough to delete and not open the attachments or click on any links. Seems life is not as safe as we would wish for.

Love and light, and please stay safe xx

Chasingsquirrels · 06/06/2017 19:45

That's lovely of you daisychain.
Ds2 & I have just been to the Coop, rushed to the car as it was raining and then an enormous double rainbow with the inner one just so bright.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 06/06/2017 19:56

Thank you Daisy

I'm in such a funny mood I think I'm taking myself off to bed in a minute. Meant to be dry tomorrow and DD is going on her fossil hunt before returning home, so a few positives for the Wednesday already.

JuanPotatoTwo · 06/06/2017 21:15

That was a lovely thoughtful kind thing you did for us all daisy, thank you. Somer the artistic driftwood arrangements sound really lovely :)

Cake why are you in a funny mood - hope you're ok. Wouldn't it be great if dd actually found a fossil! One of Mark's most treasured possessions was a fossilised fish his df found in Brazil. Or was it Argentina? Can't remember exactly where and now I come to think of it I haven't seen it for a while - must look it out.

Ds2 is health and fitness fanatic. This particular sludge consisted of spirulina, beetroot, banana, blueberries, sweet potato, flax seed and brown linseed. Believe me, it tasted a lot worse than it sounds from that list, and if anyone ever accuses me of not loving my children, I will refer them to this thread and written evidence that I drank that drink to please my child!

evening all
well, an interesting day, so glad to sit down and read your posts :)
It has rained all day. We took DGS puddle jumping - a complete change of clothes this morning. We don't have a soft play anywhere near - one of the few downsides of living in a relatively small market town ( nearest soft play about 18 miles away) But we have had a good day, and DD and DGS staying overnight so had a lovely time chatting this evening - DD2 was here too.
Lovely thought daisy rainbows are joyous :)
mmm - Juan - there is only so much 'healthy' I can take -.:) But lovely that your DS is trying hard to be pro- active with your health.
I really, really like all veg, just not mushed up all together ....
Chasing - that actually sounds like doing some more at work will help you and give you a structure to your week - hope it goes okay
Hope everyone has a good nights sleep tonight
Thoughts and Prayers x

daisychain01 · 06/06/2017 22:02

I'm sorry, but I'm feeling a bit Envy around the gills at the thought on that glop..... there's only so much superfood stuff one can take, then it's back to a glass of vino and lemon drizzle Cake Grin x

Chasingsquirrels · 06/06/2017 22:05

I think so book. Nice got you to have some time with your dd's as well as dgs ☺.

Ds2 made peanut butter mug cake and we shared - yum (I won't suggest green gloop to him!)

DramaAlpaca · 06/06/2017 23:24

Urrggh. I don't like the sound of that green gloop at all. I'll stick to DS2's smoothies - he makes them with strawberries, raspberries & a banana, with added orange juice & ice, & sometimes if I'm very lucky he makes me one too. They are yummy. None of this green sludge nonsense, oh no. But I fully accept that the green stuff would be much healthier Grin

The boys & I once went on a fossil hunt on a beach in France, and came back home with a car full of rocks. Most of them are now in our garden rockery. We didn't find anything as exciting as a fossilised fish, just an ammonite or two, but searching for them was fun.

daisy that was such a sweet thing to do for us all, thank you.

Willow2017 · 06/06/2017 23:26

Daisy that was a lovely thing to do thank you. We love rainbows here, often see them from our living room window, so close on the hill we are tempted to go and look for that pot of gold. Smile

Juan you deserve a medal! That sounds vile.

Raining here too, quite heavy at times, could really hear it battering down outside. Was actually cold earlier on instead of muggy.

Well my baby goes to high school 'properly' for his last transition days tomorrow and thursday. I was quite emotional earlier on, where did the time go? He is nervous as well as excited so I am taking him down with his brother and the other child I car share with instead of doing the pick up. DB has strict instructions to walk up to school with him and wait for him to go to friends car pm. Of course all day he will ignore him but he has been threatened with surgical removal of his phone if he doesnt do as I ask Smile Think I might be worse after they have left the car! Really dreading the 'Leavers Assembly' was txting with the person I car share with and we were remembering that her and another mum were sobbing when it was their 'babies' turn. I wasnt so bad then (it was my eldests turn then too) just a bit of a snivel until I got home! Think I will leg it out the door pdq after its finished Smile

Cake hope you are ok after a good nights sleep.
