evening
DGS on his way home - we are slumped with a cup of tea.
Juan - a weed is anything that is in the wrong place in a garden , so I wouldn't panic :) How nice the plumber was too!
Selena - I will be thinking of you and your DH come Thursday, stay strong.
In fact I wish you all strength. xx
I have just seen on the weather forecast how dry April was - I love the fact they are telling us what we already know - ( thinking here of magi )

Willow2017 · 02/05/2017 19:14

Juan my ex used to insist that anything you couldn't eat in the garden was a weed so you are ok😉

What a lovely man the plumber was just to remind us that there are still good people out there which is easy to forget if you read some threads on here.

Chassing hot water bottle for your back cuppa or whatever your tipple is and a good book or a box set you deserve it.

If weather ok this weekend I will have to do some gardening too. Have one of those damm plants that runs all over the place, its name escapes me at the moment, drives me mad. Noticed some more tulips coming through nice yellow ones will have to avoid chopping them off 😀

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 02/05/2017 19:26

Ah there are still good people out there!

Sending you a hug and probably best not to look at threads like that at the moment. It's all very easy for people to say what they'd do in a hypothetical situation isn't it?

Super stressy day on the horizon tomorrow so have promised myself that I'll go for a slice of cake and a cuppa once done and just going to stick fish and chips in the oven with some frozen veg - that way no one will get scurvy and I don't have to think!

Juan one admin task a day sounds very sensible. Selena I hope that DH does OK with the Weetabix drink.

JuanPotatoTwo · 02/05/2017 19:52

Hello Woolly :)

I feel like I came across all judgy in my comment about the living with illness thread. I didn't mean it that way at all - I know that I was just very lucky to find the man that I did, and that it really is luck of the draw to some extent. What upset me was that it seems there are a lot of very unkind people out there.

book just thinking of looking after small children makes me feel tired - you deserve a slump, a big one! willow your ex must have been right as one of our resident gardeners (aka book) said more or less the same thing! Seems sensible to me. Cake oh I hope your horrid stressful day turns out less stressful than you expect. And if it doesn't just keep your eye on that coffee and cake. Will all be over by this time tomorrow.

Thanks dentists and arsey ex husbands don't mix well. Should be done 1!

DramaAlpaca · 02/05/2017 22:00

Evening all.

Juan your plumber sounds like a complete sweetie. It's good to hear there are lovely people around.

The thread about relationships and coping with illness made me feel deeply sad. But on the positive side it made me think of my lovely FIL who spent many years taking care of MIL who was diagnosed with a painful debilitating illness not long after they were married, and he did it with never a word of complaint until the day she died. He is very frail now and as an extended family we are now looking after him, and we are all happy to do so.

Wishing everyone a peaceful night and a good day tomorrow.

bookbook · 02/05/2017 22:15

I do feel tired after a day with him . Had a nice hot bath though so I will sleep well tonight!
I forgot to say - drive man came and started the prep work. It will finally get done tomorrow , and should be all done in the one day. Fingers and toes all crossed .
Cake - hope it goes a smoothly as possible tomorrow

bookbook · 02/05/2017 23:10

Good night all
Sleep well
Thoughts and Prayers xxx

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 03/05/2017 06:17

Thanks Book I'm a big girl, will be fine. The waiting is always the worst part to anything...

Hope the drive gets done and looks lovely then!

magimedi · 03/05/2017 08:43

What a lovely man your plumber sounds, Juan.

Wish I lived nearer & I'd come and weed your garden for you - I love weeding, I really do. SO satisfying to see all the earth tickled up & looking good when you have finished.

Some rain over night, but not enough.

Off for a swim - don't want to go but I must get back into it.

bookbook · 03/05/2017 08:55

Morning
Just checking in. Raced around to be showered and dressed before any likelihood of tradesmen or deliveries .
I love weeding too - a real sense of satisfaction ( mind you - my garden is like the fourth bridge - it's never finished ! )
Gorgeous day, so hoping to get a bit done in the garden and allotment.
I have never liked swimming - only learned when I was an adult, I think part of it is being very shortsighted, and not being able to see ( though there did used to be a lady who swam whilst wearing her glasses) .

Willow2017 · 03/05/2017 10:14

Morning all.

Just checking in before I go off for a job interview. Am bricking it! Been a long time since I had an interview and this is my second in 3 weeks! Its nothing high faluting, shop work which I did as a teen 100 years ago, but I really want to get back out there into the outside world again.

Book hope your drive gets done today, I was like that for weeks hoping my builders would turn up, all racing around in the morning to no avail!

Hope everyone else is having a quiet restfull morning, Magi hope you enjoyed your swim.

Right deep breaths and off we go...

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 03/05/2017 10:30

Good luck Willow

I'm off to see the ex with DD at the dentist. Had hoped for sun so I could have a stroll after but it will be hot chocolate and cake while tucked into a warm corner of the cafe now! I'm taking a book - I haven't read an actual book in years but DH bought me one recently so good excuse to get it out while hanging around and use it as a distraction from wanting to punch ex in the face Wink

bookbook · 03/05/2017 10:38

They are here - and working hard, with a very loud radio......:)
Good Luck Willow

Chasingsquirrels · 03/05/2017 11:22

Willow - hope the interview went well, or good luck if you haven't had it yet.

Cake - enjoy the book, get through the meeting with the ex, hope dd is okay with the dentist.

medi - hope you had a good swim.

book - good to hear the builders are cracking in.

Juan - how are you doing with your sleep now?

I kept waking up last night, worrying about getting ds1 to school for 4.15am tomorrow morning - which isn't exactly helpful! He has a school daytrip to the Somme. So an early night for us tonight and lots of alarms to be set!

DramaAlpaca · 03/05/2017 12:16

Good luck Willow Shamrock

Willow2017 · 03/05/2017 13:27

Thank you everyone.

Well I survived! No idea how it went I think I may have babbled a bit but its all a bit terrifying to be doing this at my age Smile I think the guys interviewing me were 20 years younger than me! I mean can any of you pick an example of great customer service you have had out the hat on the spur of the moment? I havent had any need for it lately! But I chose a place I go regularly and praised their attitude and service because of x & y so hopefully got my point across! Funny how you can come up with a fabulous coherent answer to all those questions on the way home! I am really not holding my breath but they were very nice so fingers crossed.

Of course just to add to my stress my teen txt me just before I went in to say he had been sick at school! This has happened 3 weeks in a row after p.e. Have spoken to another p.e. teacher last week and discussed this but obviously this other teacher is not taking on board what I said so have asked it to be looked into today. He is back in class so I will leave him in school, his guidance teacher is going to look into it and get back to me.

Have ds2's parents meeting for his end of school residential trip tonight, I cant believe its here already. Where did the time go? My baby is going to high school after the hols.

Cake hope the dentists went ok, nothing like a good book to lose yourself in. I went for a coffee and a read to calm my nerves before the interview and got halway there and realised I had forgotten my book. Hope it wasnt an omen!

Book mine had a radio blaring too, even when they were in the van having their breaks they left it on the scaffolding blaring away! Wouldnt have minded if it had been radio 2 Smile

bookbook · 03/05/2017 17:45

Just having a quick sit down .
Juan - hope you have had a good day.
The drive is done , and it looks just as I hoped it would ( does anyone else get that panic feeling of ' its a lot of money -am I doing the right thing' ?) so I think I will sleep easier tonight now!
Chasing - I am a terrible one for worrying that I won't wake up in time for something, so then end up nearly staying awake all night , so I know how you feel.
Willow - sounds positive! ( DH went and switched the radio off in their van - they had disappeared for a quick lunch I think - much muttering and switched straight back on when they came back! )
Cake - hope you enjoyed the book!
Hope everyone is well

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 03/05/2017 18:53

Hello

Survived the day - am fuming with ex but it's long and boring to the point where it bores even me!

I went and had a lovely hot choc and brownie and did 7 chapters of my book and came home for a bacon butty and did some mindfulness colouring too!

Glad the drive looks good Book

They grow up way too quickly! Hope the early start tomorrow isn't too hard on everyone Squirrel

daisychain01 · 03/05/2017 20:29

Hello all, a quick dip in after dinner and feeling somewhat mellow and relaxed.

It's lovely reading everyone's latest, everyone has been busy-bees today! bookbook yayyy get out the bunting for the new drive. You should have a 'Drive Warming Party' to celebrate Grin. Do you keep looking out of the window, just because it looks all new and lovely?

Fingers tightly crossed that you were successful getting through your interview willow, when did they say they'd contact you?

I hope the school trip to the Somme goes well Squirrels, its something everyone should do once in a lifetime. My late DH's lovely favourite Auntie used to visit every year without fail, even when she became really ill with cancer, it was a real mission for her, bless her.

Hope you are OK Juan and that you are regaining a bit of a sleeping pattern. Isn't your plumber a sweetie, taking care of the shower for you. Those little things feel a bit like a mountain to climb at the mo, I'm sure, so a helping hand was exactly what was needed. But sad you were tearful in the park (hugs) sorry.

I hope everyone is OK and you all have a nice evening. I'm off for an early bird swim in the morning. Still gloomy and boring weather here, when will we get some brightness hey ho.

Lots of love xxxx

JuanPotatoTwo · 03/05/2017 21:05

Evening Aunties, good to hear how everyone's days have been. book they didn't take long (once they eventually got started) to do your drive. Willow hope you get the job - when will you hear? I hate interviews - both conducting them and enduring them. Cake what are you reading?

Squirrels my sleeping pattern isn't established as such because I don't like taking the tablets on a school night. But on the nights I do take them they get me off but don't keep me off. Think I may go back and see if I can try a different one - doc did say I could. Still getting panic attacks too but not every night now. Are you still managing to sleep relatively ok?

Tonight Dd and I went to have our skin tests for our tattoos. Ds1 has decided he wants a tattoo but no ashes. Ds2 says he'll do it in his own time. All went well so fingers crossed she and I don't react - I'll be so disappointed if I'm allergic to Mark. I had a bit of a moment opening the tube for the first time and seeing the little paper labels with Mark's name and "deceased" written next to it. And then another moment spooning some of the ashes out into a Tupperware container to take with us. I was doing it thinking "this is surreal, what am I doing, this 'stuff' is my husband" :(.

magi did you make it for your swim? If so, hope you enjoyed it. And daisy hope you enjoy yours tomorrow. Selena will be thinking of you and your dh tomorrow.

OP posts:
magimedi · 03/05/2017 22:21

Hope you are not allergic, Juan

No, I did not enjoy my swim - it was berluddy hard work. I am coming back to swimming after a 7 month absence (due to lurgys).

I was doing 1k 3x a week with no effort & in good time. I am now doing half that distance in a reasonable time but it is nearly finishing me off.

But only the 3rd swim after a long absence so am hoping for better to come.

Book - I too am short sighted but have swum all my life. I was born by the sea & have no memory of not being able to swim.

bookbook · 03/05/2017 22:25

Evening all.
yes it was quite quick in the end. It was all prepped up yesterday, but today there were three working. We have gone with a resin drive, and it was like plastering the floor -they never stopped once they started.
And yes daisy , I have been looking out of the window a lot!
Juan - I do hope the Dr can help with the sleep - don't forget to mention the panic attacks either - that might make some difference to the prescription.
I have never had a tattoo ( or my ears pierced) so I admiring your resolve.
Well, am now doing extra DGS sitting for a few weeks - every Thursday morning , so rather than drag the little one out, I shall be off early in the morning to drive to DDs
Hope everyone is well
will be thinking of you tomorrow Selena
Thoughts and Prayers

Willow2017 · 03/05/2017 22:37

Juan that must have been such a strange experience for you. What tattoo are you having?

I have no clue when they will get in touch about the job. The advert wasnt clear as they have a few so they are having to contact applicants to see which job they were applying for. Will just have to wait and I much prefered being the interviewer back in the day than the interviewed😀

Will be thinking of you both tomorrow selena everything crossed🖒

magimedi · 03/05/2017 22:42

book - you are my thread twin! I too have never had a tat or had ears pierced.
