New thread, not very imaginative title sorry! I can't remember how to link - having a blank moment.

That's a lovely thing to say daisy - if Mark only knew how he had helped bring some of The Mumsnet people together!

Ikea is indeed the 7th level of hell, but we need to get DD some affordable furniture as we're updating the house a lot but unfortunately on pauper budget Grin

Thanks Juan it was all well in the end but a bit of a pain to get through (work related) but so pleased it's done and with the result too.

We had bright sun, wind, hail and rain! What a weird day. Got my winter coat back out yesterday.

Have you got anything to look forward to to distract/help this weekend Juan ? Offer for a coffee and chat is a genuine one if ever you need it.

Chasingsquirrels · 26/04/2017 17:54

It rained quite a bit here earlier and a bit of hail, but the sun is out again now although it is cold.

DramaAlpaca · 26/04/2017 17:57

Just a quick hello, I'm just finishing up at the office and I'm looking forward to getting home, putting my feet up and falling asleep on the sofa having a nice cup of tea.

daisy that really is a lovely thing to say. You are indeed a very wise woman amongst many wise women!

This thread has become a lovely, friendly one hasn't it? I just like popping in, seeing how everyone is, having a bit of a chat. I'm not the best at the wise words, but I'm good at handholds, making tea and giving virtual hugs Smile

JuanPotatoTwo · 26/04/2017 18:15

You are good at wise words Drama, you all are. Cake, I would love to take you up on that offer but I don't think we're anywhere near each other are we? I'm in the SE.

You know how you sometimes think really stupid things that in the cold light of day seem insane? I was thinking the other night that maybe none of you really believe that I have a dh that died, and that I'm making all this up for attention. And I was worrying how I could prove to all of you that, actually, this is absolutely true. And then I thought that no, none of the Aunties on my thread would be so unkind to think that way. And that led to me thinking that, even in the worst possible situation you would never wish to find yourself in, there are always silver linings. And you folk are my silver linings (as are my rl friends of course) Flowers.

TheWorldHasGoneToCake · 26/04/2017 18:37

I think due to the fact that your name is so well known on the boards, people know there's a genuine person. I'm also SE, will send you a PM. Have met a few people from online forums and count some of them amongst my best friends now!

daisychain01 · 26/04/2017 18:50

Now Juan [stern look] No proof required whatsoever Flowers x. Don't go worrying yourself about things that aren't true. At all x.

^^ that was a mini telling-off Grin

I saw an amazing sight today, a massive carpet of bluebells in the open woods driving to work. The blue was like an electric glow. So lovely.

bookbook · 26/04/2017 18:56

I will happily be a silver lining Juan , and keep on being so if I may :)
You can talk, and cry and offload anytime, we will be here to handhold and listen.
Sadly, I think I am pretty far away up here , it would be lovely to meet up.
It has been a funny day here - so cold and damp this morning, then full on sun this afternoon. I spent a bit of time in my greenhouse, and it was

so nice to be warm , and in the sun ( and out of the wind!) . I would gladly trade a few days parched with magi - it looks like more rain tomorrow here, so no call from the tradesman

Tomorrow is baking in the morning - it is my DD's birthday tomorrow. It is her day off, so we are having an at home afternoon tea party for close family . I am in charge of making scones :)

bookbook · 26/04/2017 18:57

I type so slowly, and re edit, that I am always x posting....

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 26/04/2017 19:55

Oh Juan my lovely friend, I've just learnt about your heartbreaking news through Woolly Hugs.
I'm so so sorry. Sad
Sending you massive hugs my darling xxx

Willow2017 · 26/04/2017 20:06

What weird weather everyone is having!

We had cloudy start and dark clouds rolled in but thankfully they broke up. We had sunshine and blue skies but there was a freezing cold wind. Washing was fine but too cold for me I sat in with fire on! Builder came and finally finished. But he kept leaving doors open 😀 now I just got to repaint my bedroom and bathroom. I doubt if I will get away with just the bits he's filled in. Oh joy😣
And I am studiously ignoring the fact I need to go up in attic and clean it up so I can put stuff back up there now builders finished.

I need coffee and cake😀

daisychain01 · 26/04/2017 21:30

Brew and Cake for all on this thread

Extra Cake for you willow it sounds like you need it. Put your feet up, there's always tomorrow Grin

Willow2017 · 26/04/2017 21:43

daisy
Thanks tbh I haven't done much today just a bit of housework 😀 been indulging myself on Xbox like a big kid. Kids are off school Friday so will get stuck in then. They will be press ganged in to help😀

magimedi · 26/04/2017 22:24

Very stern face on:

I have met you, Juan. I know you are not a troll.

Just banish that idea totally. And utterly. Forever. Now!

I can be quite scary!! Grin

(Which is why EL Pot loves moi - he needs that shakeup/wake up!)

bookbook · 26/04/2017 22:29

Evening
its almost worse after the builders leave isn't it Willow - you need to get it sorted, but oh, the mess. It definitely needs research before you paint - lots of it, with your feet up .
Hope everyone is having a peaceful evening

DramaAlpaca · 26/04/2017 22:40

Juan my dear, why on earth would we be posting on here if we thought you were a troll? I hope nobody has said anything to you to make you think we don't believe you. If so you can send them in my direction and I'll deal with them for you Grin

I know magi has met you, and I've 'known' you on the tennis threads for the past four or five years, I don't have any reason to doubt you.

Willow2017 · 26/04/2017 23:05

Juan give your head a wobble! What a daft idea. Funny how things just pop into our heads sometimes but this one is a doozy. Kick it out right now Smile

book yep will need to 'work up' to doing it all Grin

bookbook · 26/04/2017 23:13

well, time for me to turn in.
Restful sleep Juan - no daft fancies either - we wouldn't be here
Thoughts and prayers xx

JaneJeffer · 27/04/2017 00:44

Juan I often find myself thinking weird things in the morning before I've had my coffee and properly woken up Smile Thank God for coffee! Night night x

bookbook · 27/04/2017 08:52

Morning Juan
hope you have a good day
going to be a bit busy today, but will be thinking of you
Thoughts and Prayers xx

magimedi · 27/04/2017 12:03

Hallo everyone. No rain but a frost this morning.

You may like to know that Woolly Hugs are making a blanket for Juan

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2913720-The-Mumsnet-we-need-your-help-to-make-a-Woolly-Hug-for-lovely-JuanPotatoTwo?msgid=68621635

Will ELPot feature on it? Grin

UnbornMortificado · 27/04/2017 12:23

Afternoon (when did that happen!) everyone.

Juan just seen about your Woolley hug, I hope it brings you some comfort, I'm very talentless so will donate wool instead of time.

DramaAlpaca · 27/04/2017 13:22

I'm donating funds for wool seeing as I am hopeless at knitting & crochet. If El Pot doesn't feature, there should at least be a Tennis !

JuanPotatoTwo · 27/04/2017 16:09

Hello. Oh my goodness, I've just read the thread you linked to magi. I'm so so touched - crying (again). What lovely wonderful people you and they are. Thank you from the bottom of my heart (what a strange expression that is!)

Hello Zing, lovely to see you.

I don't know why I got to thinking that perhaps people would think I'd made all this up - certainly everyone has been nothing but kind and supportive. But you know how sometimes your mind wanders and you find yourself going down all sorts of unlikely routes. I think I was just tired and emotional. Sometimes I imagine my own funeral and reduce myself to tears - but we all do that. Don't we?!

I have a bit of news - the lady I met for the first time on Saturday with dd told me about a vacancy at her place of work. It's part time, apparently very undemanding, and close by. I spoke to the recruitment manager yesterday, met her earlier and have been offered the job. Start in early June. :)

PS magi I told Pot you'd shouted at me. He's very cross with you Grin

DramaAlpaca · 27/04/2017 16:19

Hi Juan, wow, just popped on quickly and I see you've been offered a job!

What great news - you absolute star, you! A new friend and a new job, just brilliant.

I'm so pleased for you Smile
