What kind of men use prostitutes?

Dh has an outside job which involves spending time on various roads within towns and villages.
A couple of weeks ago he was working on a street in our local town. An everyday street with semi detached homes.
After a day or so Dh and his work colleagues noticed one particular house had a lot of 'visitors'. All the visitors were well dressed men arriving in nice cars. It averaged around 4 men per hour!
At lunchtime a car pulled up (the driver had pizzas) and the door was opened, there was an older woman in the hallway and several younger looking women loitering in the hallway also.

Dh and workmates are convinced it was a brothel. Over the weeks that they were working there they would glare at the men going in and said some of them looked very embarrassed once they realised they had been noticed, one even parked in a nearby supermarket and tried to get in the back way.
I know these things go on but what got me was the thought that surely, several, if not most of these men must have (oblivious?!) partners etc.

Ford followed your link, am now seriously worried about your safety and your rather relaxed approach to bodily fluids.

I am glad for your sake that you don't perceive yourself as unhappy in your work, but I have to say, having looked at your social media, there's nothing "empowering" there.

ShoutOutToMyEx · 08/02/2017 12:23

Offred what's the link to the blog?

TheNaze73 · 08/02/2017 12:26

In answer to the initial question, I would think men in boring sexual relationships, who are too spineless to leave their relationships but, don't want an affair. The thought of paying for it though leaves me cold, as surely part of sexual attraction, is that it's reciprocal.
I think the whole industry appears to be grubby & my acid test is my daughters. If either of them went into prostitution, I would be heartbroken

Offred · 08/02/2017 12:31

Not sure I am allowed to post but is linked to on her twitter.

Just building up a picture though is useful to me. Several claims she has made on this and other threads seem to be less than truthful to me now.

Including on this one re the condoms. Ford only insists on condoms for vaginal penetration and will let men cum in her mouth... testing once per month?!

Offred · 08/02/2017 12:32

It's depressingly risky that to me...

DeviTheGaelet · 08/02/2017 12:33

Seems like a good time to post this
the-invisible-men.tumblr.com
This is what the men who use prostitutes think in their own words.

Snugglepalace · 08/02/2017 12:35

Ford is in control of what she does as, how I understand it, she works alone and chooses who she sees/works with?!
But what about these poor girls working under pimps or in brothels (I do not believe one single brothel worker choses to work thus way) they have very little choice who their clients are! Fords life seems a world apart from these women.
BTW I, as a woman would never pay for sex
a) because I'm married and like to think I have complete trust in my marriage and b) because I can not ever imaging paying someone to have sex with me knowing that the chances are that person would never have sex with me if I was not paying for the 'privilege'

Devi I've seen that Tumblr before but not for a while. How absolutely, completely depressing.

HLBug · 08/02/2017 12:47

Just want to add something to the OP's original question (and to add women too). My 'source' (good friend) is a high end male sex worker who, over the years, had a good few female clients who were physically disabled and uncomfortable in sexual relationships with their partners and, basically wanted to 'practice' with someone who they had no attachment to before feeling comfortable in progressing relationships with a partner. Just something else to think about. Oh, and to answer another question up thread, yes he does pay tax to HMRC.

Bct23 · 08/02/2017 12:48

Snuggle - women generally don't have to. It's a lot easier to get for free if you want it.

A lot of men use them because they wouldn't get it any other way.

Not right but will be a reason.

TheSparrowhawk · 08/02/2017 12:49

Ford is a complete hoax. What sort of normal adult states that they'd be happy for their child to face the possibility of violent sexual assault every day as part of their 'work'?

Offred · 08/02/2017 12:51

The kind who has found sex work fulfilling and affirming sparrow!

I'm sure that's how Ford feels.

Doesn't change my feelings on sex work. Seeing the twitter, the blog and advertising though has helped me understand more about the reality than some of Ford's posts though.

GeekLove · 08/02/2017 12:52

Ford Would you be so earnest if your daughter or son was to become a sex worker?

For however shiny it looks they will be men who think they can take what they want from someone just because they've payed.

whatsthepointofmorgan · 08/02/2017 12:54

There is no way any sane person would ever recommend to her daughter a job in which rape is a daily occupational hazard. If you would recommend that life to your daughter Ford, then you are an unhinged monster.

No normal mother would recommend this.

Snugglepalace · 08/02/2017 12:56

Devi - that just about sums it up!

Bullshit.
Don't glamorize sex work.
The majority of the men will be old, smelly, spotty, sweaty, dribbly with bad breath and will be crap in bed.
Tell me how that is any shape or form fulfilling?

The only fulfilling part would be when they paid you.
That I get.

Snugglepalace · 08/02/2017 12:57

I think Ford said earlier she doesn't have a daughter. Maybe her whole outlook would change if she had?

I used to work for a Government Department with a girl who did escorting on the side. She put herself through university this way. She certainly wasn't trafficked or involved with criminals and she worked alone (with her aunt in the kitchen keeping an eye on things). Obviously there's criminality and trafficking going on but to say that all women choosing this lifestyle are victims is plainly wrong. There's a very interesting Netflix documentary called 'Escorts' if anybody's interested. My friend said that her customers came from all walks of life, some were single, some married, some widowed. She said they wanted 'no strings' sex and company. That's all. I think some men find it very easy to separate the feelings they have for thier wives and the sex act.

NotTheFordType · 08/02/2017 13:00

I didn't post to have a discussion about whether or not sex work is empowering. I posted to my Twitter because Sparrow apparently thinks I'm a man, LOL.

Annie thanks for your patronising concern but as stated earlier, I have a high awareness of risk factors and never provide any services that I'm unhappy with.

Panda. In regards to HMRC I state my business as sex work. Some women choose to put "adult model" or "massage therapist" instead, if they are worried about being outed.

The only thing about a client that I would find genuinely disgusting is poor hygiene. If someone stinky turns up, then I ask them to have a shower before we start. If they refuse then they get told to leave. (This has never happened to me yet.) Looks aren't really important to me. I've had guys with a face full of acne, bad scars, crappy tattoos, morbidly obese, incredibly hairy, you name it. It doesn't bother me at all. It's what they do in bed that's important. I'd say I get sexual enjoyment from about 40% of my bookings. (Some of these guys are actually really good at oral!) The actual intercourse rarely lasts more than a few minutes. It's pretty rare for me to get bored. The only reason I tend to wish "this needs to be over" is if the client has a massive cock, in which case I'll say to him we need to change position or I'll finish him off with oral.

I'd say some men find it easy to not consider the feelings of one half of humanity re sex.

Offred · 08/02/2017 13:03

I can't see why you'd be happy with BBBJ or CIM if you have a high awareness of risks!

But are even 'empowered' sex workers really in control? I can see it as a highly addictive way of life given that there is potentially a great deal of reward as well as the risk. Take the case of pornographic actors - many find themselves effectively trapped by the sex industry as it is very difficult to get out once your in and you are seldom making any money unless you are active - there isn't exactly a standard wage structure of job security in the sex industry.

SkaterGrrrrl · 08/02/2017 13:05

Men who have zero respect for women and see them as objects.

NotTheFordType · 08/02/2017 13:06

Whats

That's the picture I had before I started sex work. It's definitely not the case. The average client is... average.

And correct. I don't have a daughter.
