Couple swapping

user1484939839 · 20/01/2017 19:23

Hello

New name, you know....

I am on here a lot but not this topic.

Anyway....

Advice please....

Happily married - typical 2 kids mid 30s etc etc

Friends have suggested quite openly that we swap. We are due to stay at thiers tomorrow night, they live about 100 miles away.

We have a relaxed, chatty, friendly relationship with them. Been on holiday as couples. Not that long standing. No deep and meaningful discussions.

The haven't swapped before and neither have we. My husband and I had vaguely thought about it before kids with another couple but it never happened. This couple just sort of suggested we all try the last time we met up which was for dinner rather than staying over. Holiday means that boobs, bums, wobbly bits, and so on have already been exposed.

I have to admit, I fancy the idea, hubby too, and I texted just now to say ummmmm ok.

Thoughts?

Bad idea?

SH

"Relationships" not chat.

I'm just puzzled about the post that said courgettes were less mushy than butternut squash when cooked. Courgettes have a much higher water content and don't need cooking for nearly as long. All of the winter squashes are more starchy than summer squashes.

Spaghetti squash is quite fun, it's quite easy to grow but you get fewer of them for the same amount of space than you'd have courgettes. Oh and if you don't pick your courgettes quickly enough they turn into marrows (although you can buy different varieties for better courgettes/marrows).

Could have been

So OP has been paying attention after all.

But, the thing i'm really Hmm about is the talk about courgettes and butternut squash being similar. No!

PollytheDolly · 21/01/2017 19:04

Yes, yes, courgettes and butternuts but is she going to do this?

Hey I'm totally against it comparing it to my life but this is her life. If she's going ahead I want to know the details because I'm a nosy bastard

FuckOffDailyMailQuitQuotingMN · 21/01/2017 19:07

Yes she's going to do it.

But she made courgette quiche! I mean, honestly. There's a courgette shortage, respect the veg.

thatsthewayitgoes · 21/01/2017 19:15

Oh to be a fly in the wall at breakfast tomorrow GrinGrinGrin

thatsthewayitgoes · 21/01/2017 19:15

"On" ffs

user1477416713 · 21/01/2017 19:24

Ah, I see I got a goady reply from one of the mundane, pearl clutching regulars, quoting another mumsnet cliche! This place really is disappearing up its own arse

Dahlietta · 21/01/2017 19:28

All this because there is a national courgette shortage

It's spinach I can't find in any of our local shops. Does anyone know if there is a 'situation' with spinach?

I want pics or it didn't happen!

Of the quiche! The quiche!

Honest.

Sparklingbrook · 21/01/2017 19:33

Yes there is a spinach situation too Dahlietta, floods in Spain apparently.

IfNotNowThenWhenever · 21/01/2017 19:34

I fried the cabbage with keilbasa (sp?)
Was nice.

SirRaymondClench · 21/01/2017 19:35

It's official folks. We now live in a society where it's easier to buy crack than courgettes. End of days.

Yesterday I paid £3.87 for an organic Butternut Squash. Turn it into spaghetti?! Are you high? I'm not Rockerfella you know! Hmm

IfNotNowThenWhenever · 21/01/2017 19:35

Do you know, I couldn't find a satsuma for love nor money over xmas? Sweet clems, yes, tangerines, lots. No satsumas. Is there a satsuma shortage too??
I did ask the veg man, but he went all shifty and changed the subject.

tshirtsuntan · 21/01/2017 19:36

Oh dear, eggs make me trump. If I was in the market for this courgette quiche probably wouldn't be the best plan (parp) Grin

FourToTheFloor · 21/01/2017 19:36

Calling someone who doesn't agree with being married and swinging cheating mundane, now there's a quote up it's own arse userfuckingannoying

Patriciathestripper1 · 21/01/2017 19:40

Well I'd be fascinated to know how you get on op. We've thought about this before only not with people we know although I can see why that would have its advantages to know the couple.

FuckOffDailyMailQuitQuotingMN · 21/01/2017 19:41

I heard on radio 4 that veg buyers (such as for Sainsbury's) buy in advance so are protected against fluctuations in the market (i.e. I'll bet the growers take the hit) so there probably are courgettes in some shops.

I've recently bought baby spinach but the courgette price at Ocado is ridiculous last time I looked.

Hmmmm I didn't see any satsumas either over Christmas.

Not my first post, but first using this username

Well that's bollocks for a start, which you'd know if you knew how usernames work.

I would have thought 'couple swapping' with people you know would be way more awkward than with strangers. Confused

FuckOffDailyMailQuitQuotingMN · 21/01/2017 19:57

Oh look at little user trying to be exciting and all sexually liberated. And so unmundane! Hmm

What, are you 15 years old or something?
