Want to stop shaving....Any advice?

Hello MN!

I need a few of your wise words, anecdotes and perhaps a kick up the backside!

I've been with DP for about a year and we absolutely adore each other but I really want to stop shaving down below and I'm not sure how to broach it.

While I can shave my underarms relatively comfortably and can epilate my legs, shaving bikini line and beyond is a bloody nightmare.

I've tried extra sensitive gels, super expensive men's and women's razors....Nothing works. After one day I'm in red, blotchy, itchy hell, not to mention the ingrown hairs. It's so sore that it looks red raw and horrible.

DP is generally an extremely supportive and caring man and would usually do anything to prevent me experiencing discomfort but he's been quiet on this one so far - even reminding me he shaves his junk "for me" (despite me repeatly saying I don't care or even notice if he's shaved).

I've let it grow out at the moment on the premise that I'll slget it waxed "soon" but the idea of someone ripping it all out terrified me.

I think I just need to put my big girl pants on and tell him the fuzz stays. A bit of womanly fuzz has got to be a better look than red raw prickly skin anyway!

Help! Has anyone else done this?

I do t think I've ever been with a man that has a hair free penis. Most of them have hair growing an inch or two along the shaft.

CanarySong · 19/01/2017 17:29

*I don't think

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 19/01/2017 17:33

Hair actually ON the penis? I've seen my fair share over the years and I've NEVER seen hair on the shaft !Shock

I'd laugh my socks off if I saw a shaved one though- yuck!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 19/01/2017 17:34

Ewww doesn't that hair irritate your insides? My mind is boggling!

lemonzest123 · 19/01/2017 17:36

Maybe like a CM up the shaft, an inch or two would look a bit strange!

What, a penis with hair on it, heard it all now lol.

CanarySong · 19/01/2017 17:42

Yes, definitely an inch along the shaft - I'm not talking full on thick bushy pubes like on the pubic mound, but definitely hair there on the penis.

Some of you need to be taking a close look at your partners tonight and report back! Grin

So if he shaves that, when you're having sex it must be like rubbing your clitoris against sandpaper Confused

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 19/01/2017 17:44

Definitely no hairy shafts in this houseGrin

Carnabyqueen · 19/01/2017 17:44

I can't believe you are considering his opinion. Women are supposed to have pubic hair.

Adora10 · 19/01/2017 17:52

First, pubic hair offers a natural barrier to keep things clean, to decrease contact with viruses and bacteria, and to protect the tender skin of the area from being abraded.

Sure, now we wear clothes, but sometimes even clothes can irritate the skin there. Next, pubic hair helps to control the moisture of the area by wicking it up and away from the skin. This decreases the chances of yeast infections and skin breakdown. Without it, you will notice that your sweat will have to be absorbed instead by your clothing. Pubic hair is like nature’s way of keeping things balanced.

My favorite reason for why we have pubic hair, though, is sensation. At the bottom of each little hair follicle, there is a nerve ending. When you brush across each hair, it sends a little sensation down the shaft to that nerve ending. These are different from other nerve endings that we have on our skin for pressure and temperature. All of these sensations are registered together in the brain, the result being the feeling of light touch. Pubic hair doesn’t keep you from feeling the skin underneath, which is stimulated with a firmer touch, so you can have both. Shaving completely, however, reduces your sensations to just the nerves on the surface of the skin and you miss out on a wider range of stimulation. Not to mention you can no longer enjoy when your partner might tug or even blow warm air across your bush.

Show him this OP and then tell him to shut up haha.

Leave it long enough and you'll be able to PLAIT it Grin

DoctorTwo · 19/01/2017 18:00

A few people say it makes man on lady oral unpleasant but we don't even do that.

I can confirm that is not the case. Like ILikeYourHairyHands DH I loved the aromas on my last GFs fanny hair. I'm not saying he loved the aroma from my ex btw... :o He probably doesn't know her.

ShatnersBassoon · 19/01/2017 18:02

Hair on the penis is not at all unusual Confused. Pubic hair can grow beyond its densest patches in every direction - tops of legs, up toward the stomach, backwards, shaftwards...

Do whatever you want with your pubes. There's no need to try to please other people with it! If you like patting it, you do that Grin

LizzieMacQueen · 19/01/2017 18:08

This has got Daily Mail written all over it.....careful what you share.

LizzieMacQueen · 19/01/2017 18:08

Not accusing you OP but I'm sure they'll be reading it.

lemonzest123 · 19/01/2017 18:13
Blush

Do you think so? Fuck. If DP reads it he may guess it's about him.

Yes Lemon, that nice feeling we get haha.

lemonzest123 · 19/01/2017 18:20

I can't remember what she said but Caitlin Moran describes it brilliantly in her book...A kind of pat and twirl...

It's not unusual for there to be hair on a man's penis, for goodness sake some of you need to get out more, or stay in more, or something 😬

I would hate for a bloke to shave, wax, or whatever. When I first started seeing the current bloke he apologised for not having waxed/shaved...I laughed & told him he was fine as he was & that it would have put me off if he had. He was much relieved and confessed he'd never done it but that me being younger than him he thought I might expect it. Silly fool 😊

Someone mentioned waxing it all off wasn't heard of 20 years ago, I think they might be in some kind of time warp 😁 I was waxing it all off 20 years ago & I was a later comer to it amongst my friends.

Lemon I used to feel like you about oral. A thoroughly filthy ex boyfriend changed my mind on a whole lot of different things! Quite liberating it was. Never say never my friend.

TheThingsWeAdmitOnMN · 19/01/2017 18:29

We need to cuntbadger use more wankering colourful language so the hairy arsed deadbeat wankbadgers at the Dayley Male don't bother lifting the thread. Time they paid some staff to actually write not copy & fucking paste.

I'm not getting into numbers but I had a GREAT time before making Dh and it's a surprise to me!
