My family (2ds aged 5 and 6) and husband went to first football game today. Dh got so drunk so fast that by the end of the game I was embarrassed of his and the boys behaviour. So cross I left. He was encouraging boys to shout offensive things and we weren't even in the right area - posh seats. Everyone staring at us. I tried to discourage boys and he egged them on. In the end I left as just a short walk home thought it would be okay. But as I sat at home waiting took them and hr to return. Boys were distraught. Dh had been falling over all the way home it took them an hour to come maybe 200yds. He then collapsed in the hall way and poor children confused. I'm devastated, embarrassed and confused. He has form with drinking but we had troubles and I thought they'd gone now I'm scared am on Rocky road again. Sitting waiting for boys to fall asleep as they're confused and upset. Not really sure what to do. Also feel horribly guilty that I left but I know I couldn't have easily stayed without him verbally abusing me and hadn't realised quite how drunk he was.

Also the ideas of recording photographing will not nearly hold as much weight in court as evidence from gp and other professionals. Can you imagine someone going to court showing recordings / photographs of her alcoholic abusive husband over a period of let's say a couple of months while consenting to him having the children in his care unsupervised. That would simply make her complicit.
The choices here are be protective or tolerate the children being harmed further.

Very true - many abusive men threaten to take full custody to make you stay. My ex did - he hasn't seen his dc for nearly 4 years, let alone tried for any custody or contact. Empty threat meted out by a desperate twat who is losing control.

Mad
I think you are being a bit picky.
It would do no harm whatsoever having photos/recorded evidence. This information is private and can be with held until such time it might be needed in the future.

I am not saying it would do harm, I am just asking why anyone would collect evidence to show that the primary carer of their children incapable of doing so safely while leaving their children in this persons care for extended periods of time. That makes them complicit in harming the children.
Until yesterday the op appears to not have fully realised what was happening. Today she has so from today if she stays with the children she is failing to be fully protective.
I appreciate that all this will be a shock for the op who obviously had her belief and value system organised in a way that allowed her to stay and remain in denial about the problem ant its extent.
If op's husband managed to get completely drunk during a fairly innocent family lunch out this would suggest that he drinks at home and needs a certain amount for maintenance. That would also suggest he consumes this when in sole charge of the kids. It also means he consumes a fair bit when op believes he is off the drink.
This is about protecting two very young children. The middle class bubble and finances are secondary here.

Without evidence, that's all an assumption, though. It would also mean that he isn't getting hold of drink during the week, but the moment he had the opportunity, went completely overboard and behaved like a prize dickhead.

OP knows better than us what is more likely, since she holds the purse strings.

Hi op, hope you're ok? How are the children? Have they mentioned the incident at all?
