Shall I report my neighbours?

Didn't know where to put this.

No previous problems with them. They are having a party and smoking cannabis.

They might know it's me, and I don't want repercussions. Am I being petty?

Can always drop an anonymous post via crime stoppers. Not saying anything would get done but at the end of the day it is a class c drug.. That lets face it is coming from somewhere

I'm not impressed by piss heads Poly but I wouldn't assume everyone who drinks is one. Smile

Dont report if it is just the once.

Report
mizuzu · 04/06/2016 22:23

police wont do anything this is correct. My neighbour is dealing and smoking everyday, still waiting for police to raid him 3 months later....

Junkies Grin

I don't smoke the stuff but one of my neighbours does and when I go to my back food step it stinks to high heaven of weed. Doesn't bother me in the slightest

I doubt the police would be interested at this time of night on a Saturday

Report
Broken1Girl · 04/06/2016 22:29

I smoked occasionally in student/ travelling days, not touched it since. Grin Such a junkie.
I still wouldn't judge people for it, especially at 10 on a Saturday night.
Call the police, if you want to waste their time...They will just laugh at you.

I didn't realise that the police wouldn't do anything. And that they don't take it seriously. After all, it's an illegal drug isn't it? And yeah of course regular users are junkies, that's what druggies are called.

And no I'm not reporting it, got better things to do like sit on mumsnet, like all the other posters!

Sadly, I think the police have better things to worry about. Eg murders and rapes ect.

It's really great if children are in the house...and if it's a regular thing! Try teaching children who suffer the effects of passive dope smoking!

I reckon you should go round there and take a drag. Also, the police wouldn't do anything unless they're dealing or something. You do realise that cannabis (and most other drugs except for heroin and cocaine) is far less harmful than alcohol, right? Apparently, if alcohol were invented now, it would definitely be a class A in terms of effects on body, behaviour and addictive qualities. There was an interesting BBC docu about it a few years back where they compared the effects of various drugs to the effects of alcohol.
Please lighten up- they are not harming anyone.

runningincircles12 · 04/06/2016 22:36

Also, I thought junkies was a word for heroin addicts. I have never heard it in relation to cannabis- pothead or stoner, but not junkie

Running circles, think you should read some of the studies on the effects of long term use-paranoia, memory loss, not to mention most people still smoke it via tobacco, so they're getting the double whammy.

Has the possession of cannabis for personal use (or whatever class drugs they are in) been downgraded in crime terms? Maybe I'm wrong on that and someone just recommended it. A lot of people are against that as they maintain it does cause serious issues and is not as innocuous as usually portrayed. It is regarded as a gateway drug.

I must admit, right now, with a very sore back that pain meds aren't getting rid of , I would be very tempted to try it for therapeutic reasons if I had access to it. They do that in some places. I wouldn't have children exposed to it though or to people whose state of mind is altered by it's use.

I don't know if I'd be very happy if I was in an environment with it going on regularly as part of a party scene. It distorts people's behaviour or/and perception of reality and makes them unpredictable, I would not feel so secure.

However, if it is not frequent or causing any anti-social disturbance to you or any children aren't being exposed to it, I wouldn't do anything.

I understand where you coming from OP. I find drunk and/or doped up people pathetic and wish these substances weren't around. However, previous posters are right. Police will do fuck all so don't even waste your breath.

My next door neighbours also smoke weed sometimes. It would never cross my mind to report them to anyone. What business is it of mine? What harm is it doing anyone else?

Report
legotits · 04/06/2016 22:42

The good news is that if they are stoners,
No fights.
No puking or passing in your garden.
No big shout row.
Big snoozeroo after 22.30.

Obviously the downside is the 23.30 takeaway delivery.......
And the 01.30.....

Yes all drugs have dangers, not sure why they put them in different classes.

It's not the dope that gets me at house parties it's the shite music which is played. Subjective.

This is precisely the problem we have with our neighbour. Its not like I've never used cannabis, nor do I have issue with it being used occasionally. I do have an issue when it hits usage so frequent it gets to paranoia stage, especially if people are using it to 'medicate anger issues' Hmm
