Great about benefits they all should kick in soon. Who sends wife £ and 25p goodness if something anything Is part of pound I round it up even to take away man!

RandomMess · 01/06/2016 13:54

Whoop whoop, freedom here you come!

Grumpyoldblonde · 01/06/2016 14:04

Yay! Some money of your own at last, and possibly a few pounds earned before long, time for the next thread? Just look back and see how far you have come, you sound much more positive right now.

AlmostFreeMo · 01/06/2016 14:27

Oh my god I can't believe I've just been shopping for 'leisure' (still not my favourite activity though). It felt kinda good though Wink

Can't believe we're nearly on thread 5. Hopefully it will be some time before 100 by the time I'm completely prick-free.

Grumpyoldblonde · 01/06/2016 15:03

I reckon thread 7 at the very most!
Yes, I don't like shopping much, but, the fact is I have never had to justify any spending to my partner (during times when I wasn't working/earning much) although he does sometimes raise an eyebrow about the amount of gin I buy, but hey, so would anyone tbh!

Atenco · 01/06/2016 15:48

Oh great news about the benefits, Mo. Now you won't have to defraud the prick of his 50ps anymore Grin

mix56 · 01/06/2016 18:07

Wow, great news re making some income, PLEASE don't let him in on it, he will demand you pay for stuff. keep it all for paying your SHL !

notapizzaeater · 03/06/2016 00:31

So pleased some money has come through for you. Now he won't be able to pull so many strings.

Bogeyface · 03/06/2016 00:46

Check with your SHL about how it stands now with his "allowance". Given that you are now officially seperated it could get complicated.

You are claiming benefits because you are single and not being supported by him, so anything he pays towards food etc could cause a problem.

Not wanting to piss on your bonfire, I am as thrilled as everyone about you getting some financial independence, its just that I would hate you to get into trouble for claiming while he is still sending financial support that isnt child support. It may actually work in your favour to class the supermarket card as payments against his maintenance even though that goes against the grain. You know that this bastard will use anything against you that he can and as soon as he lawyers up, they will be on those payments like a fly on shit so better to be prepared.

notonyurjellybellynelly · 03/06/2016 05:43

I'm glad you mentioned this. I'd been thinking about it as well but I know nothing about the UK benefits system so thought I was being silly.

Berthatydfil · 03/06/2016 08:06

maintenance for children is not included as income for benefits calculations for income support or Job seekers allowance.
This "allowance " that Mo receives can be classed as child support agreed via a private arrangement.
Mo doesn't need to pay her solicitor £££ to confirm this as it's easily confirmed by a quick google.
Mo - I hope you're also claiming child benefit as well.

AlmostFreeMo · 03/06/2016 10:18

It's ok, I've checked that out. Anything he gives me now is child maintenance which they wanted to see bank statements as proof. SHL also confirmed that CM is completely separate from any other income or earnings. Benefits checks are quite thorough too - spent an hour answering questions on the phone and had to go to the office in person too for something.

Can't believe we're ready for Part 5, Mo!

RandomMess · 03/06/2016 12:10

Even if they took into account the fact that you get half the house "rent" free it is so derisory it's a joke!!

Glad you are getting the benefits all sorted out.

Bogeyface · 03/06/2016 12:35

Thats a relief :)

It just concerned me that him still sending the shopping money could complicate things, so glad that it wont.

BoatyMcBoat · 03/06/2016 22:50

Good news then Mo! Hooray Grin. NOw for a great weekend; happy times.

HamletsSister · 06/06/2016 07:07

I hope your weekend was calm, pleasant and you had time to spend a few pennies on yourself.

mix56 · 06/06/2016 07:33

will there be a GO MO, sequel no 5 thread ?

Akire · 06/06/2016 10:05

Oh nearly full. Yes no stopping Mo now! Happy Monday all hope it's not been bumpy start

AlmostFreeMo · 08/06/2016 12:05

Oh myyyy can't believe it's time for me to name change and start part V.

This month is a busy one for me (which is good!)...but the sting in the tail is that I see it as my last bit of fun before it all goes downhill in July and my world starts to crumble (before I figure out how to rebuild it). The sense of dread is with me constantly, even when I'm immersed in happy and busy times, it's at the back of my mind. I know (and hope) you guys will be around to hold my hand.

I'm going on a CBT course, starting tomorrow, so will see what I get from that, no idea what to expect. Have to read through the bumph they sent me.

Anyway...to the new thread in a sec!
