What would you put in DATING THREAD 101....

The Rules:

  1. The first rule about the dating thread is you don't talk about it with people you're dating.
  2. Develop a thick skin.
  3. Do not invest emotionally too soon.
  4. It's all BS until it actually happens.
  5. Trust your gut instinct.
  6. People vanishing, lying & being generally weird is not your fault.
  7. You are the prize-they should be trying to impress you.
  8. If it's not fun, stop.
  9. Loo update is mandatory.
10. No dating the thread. 11. Read Why Men Love Bitches (aka WMLB), and take from it what you will. 12. Don't serve up moose burgers on the first date (although this is still in debate right now) 13. Matthew Hussey also very useful. And very easy on the eye even if you don't find him any good. 14. IF THEY SAY THEY DON'T WANT A RELATIONSHIP, THEY DON'T WANT A RELATIONSHIP.

Awesome Doofus Smile

And Cleo - OMG! Bye bye & good riddance!

lastnicknamefree · 31/03/2016 22:02

Nice one doofus think this weekend is looking busy date wise!

Shameandregret · 31/03/2016 22:18

cleo what a weirdo?!

last have you got a date this weekend?

Date 2 for me on Sunday, I HAVE to stop fb stalking him. It is ridiculous. I've done some swiping on Tinder and signed up to Match tonight to try and distract me but date 1 was so good it's hard to concentrate on irons. So unlike me to get attached like this. The last few men have said I was cold!

lastnicknamefree · 31/03/2016 22:26

No shame all my irons of the last week have fizzled out or been no go's so not even close at the moment! Starting all again trying to dig out a few more

cleowasmycat · 31/03/2016 22:31

You all seem to be having much better luck that me. I've been on POF and match and only seem to get messages from guys a lot older.

DrFoxtrot · 31/03/2016 22:34

last I may be joining you with the fizzled irons Blush I hope Crumpet comes good but actually I'm not holding my breath. He lives quite far from me and I'm pretty sure I can find someone good closer.

Doofus good news on the date Saturday!

It's funny how your instincts are usually right. I'm expecting Crumpet to get excited about a weekend date and build the tension a bit with messages but I've had very little apart from a few chatty texts. My mojo is definitely very up and down! Swinging from positive one day to can't be arsed the next.

I guess I had some lovely snogs at least...

MrsRolandRat · 31/03/2016 22:34

How do you Facebook stalk them? I've never done it as I don't usually ask them for their surnames. Maybe I should be Hmm

I also find it hard to focus on new irons if I've been on a date with someone who I really like. I think it's quite normal to want to stop looking.

I'm in an OLD drought at the mo. That factored with my current mood of I can't be arsed. My dating life has hit a brick wall.

Shameandregret · 31/03/2016 22:35

cleo what do you think about POF? I thought it was awful. I deleted it after a day because the amount of sleezeballs on there was awful. The messages were terrible!

Have you tried Tinder? I found the calibre of man on there to be better.

MrsRolandRat · 31/03/2016 22:37

Shame tinder is definitely much better. I'm in the northwest (Cheshire) and pof is just full of weirdos and people looking for hook ups.

cleowasmycat · 31/03/2016 22:37

Shameandregret I've met a couple on POF but there just doesn't seem to be many around where I live. In v close to a city so quite surprised. Tinder ok but I think I might be being too fussy.

Shameandregret · 31/03/2016 22:38

I'm a bit sneaky with the FB stalking, if I want to find out a bit more I ask them to what's app me and then you can stalk on FB if their number is in your contacts and settings are right.

DrFoxtrot · 31/03/2016 22:38

Roland you can put their phone number in the Facebook search box if you've got it and that might bring up their profile. Or I have managed to find their surname by googling first name town and job or Facebook search first name and job/ university depending on info given on tinder. I'm a pro Grin

Shameandregret · 31/03/2016 22:39

cleo I am actually quite rural so I'm surprised. How old are you? Also what is your age range?

sparklesnpearls · 31/03/2016 22:41

Doofus loving the phrase 'knock your boots' Grin

My boots are looking far too shiny for my liking.

Shameandregret · 31/03/2016 22:42

roland I found POF overwhelming! Tinder was more my pace. Plus I saw stbxh on POF and quickly shut it down.

MrsRolandRat · 31/03/2016 22:42

Ooh ey you guys are proper hardcore detectives on the sly!

I wonder if that's why when people have what's apped me they have then come up as 'suggested friends' on my Facebook friends list.

MrsRolandRat · 31/03/2016 22:43

Plus I hate it on pof when they and you can see when both are online. Where as tinder has removed it's last seen time stamp thingy.

sparklesnpearls · 31/03/2016 22:48

I do Roland as MrBeard is on it constantly Sad

Shameandregret · 31/03/2016 22:48

There is nothing worse when you are trying to go all super sleuth on a date you have that weekend and his FB settings are on lockdown Grin

Date 2 guy admitted to doing this to me before we met as I came up on his suggested friends list Grin

Shameandregret · 31/03/2016 22:52

You can still get the time stamp on Tinder too you know?! If you don't update the IOS on an iPhone, you have to download the old version if Tinder. Time stamp et al.

It is a bloody nightmare though. Today I have been pleased because MrMath hasn't checked his. Ridiculous again!

muddlingalongquitenicely · 31/03/2016 23:04

Im close to deleting pof really awful messages and ive only been on it 1 day. I will sort out tinder once i get my other facebook profile sorted.

DrFoxtrot · 31/03/2016 23:16

I've definitely found the quality of men better on tinder muddling. I was only on OkCupid for 12 hours Grin

muddlingalongquitenicely · 31/03/2016 23:30

Okcupid lasted 4 hours before i deactivated my account!
