Someone called the police for DV

"D"H exploded last night in front of the children over something really stupid (DDs) phone going off when we were sleeping.

He slammed doors and shouted at the children making them all scream and cry, I jumped up to defend them, told him he can't slam doors and talk to them like that. I got in between him and the bedroom door frame and he pulled me out of the way.

He was up in my face sneering at me, he called me all sorts of names and threatened to push me down the stairs, he was yelling at the top of his voice and I was telling him he had to go down stairs at least so I could settle the DC.

Eventually he did but only after yet more name calling with a look of disgust on his face.

I settled the youngest easily (told her it was a bad dream) and eldest came in with me and it all calmed down.

Next thing I know there are 2 policeman at the door, someone had heard him and called 999.

They wanted to arrest him but as it's not happened before and I'm still not sure why he did it I told them he didn't hurt me and I didn't tell them about him threatening me. They said they would log it as a disturbance after completing a DV log sheet.

He messaged our daughter this morning after leaving for work and asked if she called the police. We didn't reply.

I messaged him and told him to find somewhere to stay, we need time apart he replied no and then asked if I was throwing him out over a stupid call on our DDS phone.

I haven't replied and I've left my mobile at home, he keeps calling my work phone.

Please tell me I'm not making too much of this, I feel like I can't make a choice of what to do from now but I know he can't be happy and I've not been happy for a while either but never expected anything like this, he hates me.

Not ready to go back yet, mentally I have to be really on the ball as I'm HR, Payroll, PA so Im not sure I'm ready for them all to rely on me fully yet and would hate to let them down in any way.

I might call on Monday and ask for home access on a read and catch up basis first though.

Aces!! Well done kid!!

mathanxiety · 18/02/2016 02:49

You have got a lot accomplished and you are coming across as someone in possession of a lot of clarity and composure and self awareness. I do think the non-mol order will accomplish more than an injunction would have.

PreemptiveSalvageEngineer · 18/02/2016 08:03

More pom poms here. So impressed with you!

shoeaddict83 · 18/02/2016 08:12

joining the pom pom brigade!! Amazing Dragon! Star

mix56 · 18/02/2016 08:38

I wasn't suggesting for a minute you go back before you are ready.
Sometimes, it just focusses your mind on something other than your upheaval.
Anyway, think of all the GOOD things that have already come about.
Not least the harmony at home !

WorthMoreThanThat · 18/02/2016 09:23

You're so strong Thanks

DragonsCanHop · 18/02/2016 11:20

I've called work this morning and he told me off for calling but then told me everything that is going on, he let me make some pointers and text him some reminders and I'm pleased they are all doing well with everyone chipping in and doing little non confidential things for me so I don't have a mountain of paperwork on my desk.

Seeing the out reach worker today and my tax credits claims form arrived this morning, it looks complicated!

I was sitting outside this morning waiting for DD so I could take them to holiday club/friends and a bird shat on my hair Hmm

The girls thought it was hilarious and apparently it's menat to be a lucky sign Grin

My friends have all been amazing and we are taking turns with sleepovers so I don't have my 3 all here at the same time, they are taking their anger out on each other, name calling and shouting so we are separating them and sharing each other's siblings to ease that.

That's nice re work.when I went back after two weeks off my work was practically falling down!!
And also well down to your friends for helping out-it's amazing how many people will come out of the woodwork to support you now you are rid of him.He was probably putting people off!
The tax form is long but it's not to bad once you get started.Remember you can also apply for single persons council tax reduction too soon-25 per cent off so worth doing.

NotTheSpiceOfLife · 18/02/2016 14:38

I've read your whole thread in one sitting Dragons and I'm overwhelmed with your strength. Keep on keeping on love, you are doing brilliantly. If I was closer I would bring coffee and cake, but I'm up North.

Fucking well done. You are amazing.

DragonsCanHop · 18/02/2016 15:28

Not I've just tried to read the whole thread and got bored by his nonsense half way through so well done you Smile

P.S the duvet curtain was taken down last week and when I get paid I'm going to buy some nice new curtains.

Fabulous, and more fabulous. And I bet you sharing out the DDs is stopping others DCs getting bored and fractious over half-term so it's a win-win for your friends too
If this is your first week off, then see how you get on with school back. Can you tell your boss simply that it's divorce and messy - they don't need to know more than that and hopefully will keep some of the more minor stuff from crossing your desk when you get back. Take the full time you've been given by the GP so that when you are back you are working at as full strength as possible.

CyclingFanGirl · 18/02/2016 16:52

Just wanted to say that you are amazing Dragons, good luck to you and your DDs with everything. Flowers

ConkersDontScareSpiders · 18/02/2016 17:34

Ive got some patio door curtains going begging if you want them to tide you over-kind of duck egg blue with a pink floral-bit laura Ashley chintzy maybe which you might find offensive! Smile they fit a double French window.

DragonsCanHop · 18/02/2016 18:03

Ahh, conkers they sound lovely, thank you. I will message you Flowers

How has your day been Dragons? Uneventful I hope!

DragonsCanHop · 19/02/2016 23:51

Doesn't shit luck happen all the same time, ,my boiler started playing up so as a loyal customer including a 400 plus plan at the lovely total of £35 per month To British Gas I called and accepted their lovely offer of a service cunder my service plan I/we pay for every month.

The lovely Man comdemmed the boiler amd shut it off leaving me with no hot water or heating. A BG person will visit on Monday to quote for abnew boiler, not covered under the existing plan.

It's fucking freezing here but DC are asleep so just me here now.

Sad

Better get a decent local gas man and cancel the British Gas "insurance".

Ask around for references.

Charlesroi · 20/02/2016 01:10

Lweji is right - call another fitter and have them double check that BG's diagnosis is correct. They could have made a mistake and not be trying to rinse you for a new boiler when a 20 quid part would fix it

Get yourself a cheap fan heater or oil radiator tomorrow when the shops open. A basic fan heater is less than a tenner in Home Bargains.

goddessofsmallthings · 20/02/2016 01:36

Unless you can decamp to family/friends or happen to have open fireplaces or a woodburner, it'll be a miserable weekend without heating & hot water. What make is the boiler and have you looked online to see if there's any forums/sites that can provide a guide to diagnosing/fixing it?

I second Lewji's suggestion of getting quotes for a replacement boiler from local firms and hope you can find some consolation in the fact that a new one is likely to be far more efficient than your older model.

I had a similar experience with my previous boiler. BG stuck a piece of tape on it that read 'condemned' or some such and turned the gas off at the meter. I turned it back on as I have a gas cooker which, unsurprisingly, I use to feed myself and the occasional 5,000.

Having managed to get the boiler going again, it limped into the following week when I contracted the services of a local firm to replace it. The new boiler came with several years' guarantee for parts & labour and when that expired I took out insurance with a company I found on MoneySupemarket.

All in all I got a far better deal than BG were offering and have formed the opinion that, as far as BG are concerned, customer loyalty goes unrewarded.

Adarajames · 20/02/2016 02:44

Not sure where you are but Im in SE London if you're anywhere near and want hot shower / baths over weekend

You're doing so well, Sod's law such things crop up to test us in the midst of hard times!

goddessofsmallthings · 20/02/2016 04:19

How lovely of you to make such a kind offer to Dragons, Adara. It's also very brave of you as, if word gets around, you may find there's a queue outside your front door that stretches round the block. Grin

ConkersDontScareSpiders · 20/02/2016 06:32

Oh for gods sake! It never rains but it pours :( I live in total dread of this happening as my boiler is ancient.I have that British Gas insurance thing too but have long suspected it might be useless!!
Deffo try and get a local gas person to come and look?

ConkersDontScareSpiders · 20/02/2016 06:35

Actually I've a friend that works for a building management company-covers Herts, Essex and north London-think that's near where you are? Seeing her at girls football in a bit if you want me to ask if she knows anyone?

petalsandstars · 20/02/2016 08:05

Definitely second getting someone else to check the boiler and if it is condemned look elsewhere for a boiler. I know someone in plumbing and a few years ago I had a decent boiler from a good manufacturer for half the cost of a BG one
