Having lived a very non-mainstream life, I'm finding it hard to live in Straightworld. Anyone else out there feeling totally bemused once the playgroup chat moves away from weaning & nappies? Or is this just the general alienation everyone feels once DCs start forging their own way forward?

mademez - I think it comes down to years of looking at mainstreamers thinking thank F**k I'm not like that and I haven't sold out....then you have a baby, and suddenly you have to be mainstream (well kinda ) and you meet other mums and you sit there knowing that if it wasn't for the fact you both had babies you would absolutley nothing in common/to talk about. I may not look as Gothic as I did in my past but my brain is still there so basically, there are many of us out there...The wierd thing is I have to admit to dressing my DD in pink...my friends do look and day "WTF did dressing her like that come from" lol
