I also read that book and, whilst it did give me hope, I did think that it largely suggested men were incapable of being careful, or hesitant, or fearful and suggested they were all in control and know exactly what they're doing at all times.
I think it's good for guarding against actual players but it does tend to assume that all men are in control (of themselves) and that they can't be hurt or damaged. And that if they are, that is automatically bad news anyway!
