The Rules

  1. Develop a thick skin;
  2. Do not invest emotionally too soon;
  3. It's all BS until it actually happens;
  4. Trust your gut instinct;
  5. People vanishing, lying and being generally weird to you are not your fault
  6. You are the prize - they should be trying to impress you
  7. If it's not fun, stop
  8. loo update is mandatory

Ms23 It's going to be fun! Even if it doesn't turn into anything it will give you a boost to know you can get out there, and you already know he isn't a complete weirdo as he's a friend of a friend. Perfect! Smile

Ms23 · 22/08/2013 17:03

Thanks MsApprehension - I'm hoping it will be fun! Its just the fear of stepping out into the unknown that I'm afraid of! (and what to talk about and what to wear among other things!!). I know he's not a weirdo but if it all goes horribly wrong I will probably have to see him again Blush

kittykat10 · 22/08/2013 18:07

Ok not getting excited but does yes ok for Sat or Monday or northbound hopeful ?

DadfromUncle · 22/08/2013 18:46

WFF I will give OKC a try - will have plenty of spare time this w/e - your Bohemian chap sounds like quite a find.
penguin I thought Alan Partridge had gone off the boil a bit in his most recent tv stuff, but the film's brilliant. A great mix of slapstick, discomfort humananity and downright funny gags and one-liners (in my not very humble opinion of course)

DadfromUncle · 22/08/2013 18:47

ms23 welcime

DadfromUncle · 22/08/2013 18:48

Apologies to all for spellings - on phone

49howdidthathappen · 22/08/2013 19:05

I told my ex about Mr R&R last night, I waited until he had met someone.

He was a bit Shock he would be more so if he knew we have been together since last year Grin So pleased to be out in the open.

KinNora · 22/08/2013 19:12

Kitty yes, I thnk it sounds reasonably hopeful from what you've said.

Ms23 it's terrifying at first but at least you know 'he's not a weirdo' - this is very good news.

Penguin I saw the film on Saturday (by myself) and DFU is right, it was very funny. 'I, Partridge', especially the audiobook is well worth investing in too.

Thread wave, I'm being wooed by a professional artist, masseur and reiki master on okc who looks like a Seaside Special magician - that's me sorted then - buy hats.

KinNora · 22/08/2013 19:32

(Gay Paree has just called me 'scintillating'. Must. Not. Like. Him.)

KinNora · 22/08/2013 19:43

(Oh-oh, he's funny)

Hamwidgeandcheps · 22/08/2013 20:54

I need to report that I have shamefully inappropriate taste in men. I have been drooling over freakishly tall bank manager today and I might have to sit on my hands or I will text him. Mr hot and cold v attentive today I have no excuse. He is fit though in a v weird way.

KinNora · 22/08/2013 20:59

Nowt wrong with weird Ham, I've got a thing for David Mitchell (let's never speak of it again)

Oh no, Wine, Charlie Brooker is clever, funny and a bit of a curmudgeon = phwoarrrr. Not keen on the beard though, or David's. I'm sure they're both gutted

lurkinglorna · 22/08/2013 21:20

Ms23 all sounds good with the date Smile

Nora you ARE scintillating, of course Smile.

Not much new here, think I'm "dated out" for now. Taken down pof profile so on the sofa.

Ex got in touch to see if we could co-ordinate a meet before his next deployment but couldn't with work and stuff Hmm.

Haven't had oneitis since we parted ways

Don't really believe in mooning after the "one that got away" want to concentrate on what's in front of my eyes - if we had got to the next level last year which he was keen on, I'd have been tagging round the UK following him which'd be cool as it was HIM but kind of depressing for me...

But objectively speaking, that guy is a very very good fit indeed.

Not gonna spend the next 6 months writing mournful letters, but it's nice to know he hasn't been snapped up, and maybe when he's back something will take!

(and if so, all my ships would have come home at once, that man makes me feel like a natural woman and then some Smile Just knowing someone like that EXISTS is comforting Grin)

Wine, we like the same type, yes and yes to both.

Lorna, that was a bit cryptic, so who is it you are saving yourself for.

I'm missing the ex atm, coupled with packing in the fags, not a nice combo.

Ironman & I have ditched the fags too scrazy.
It's sporadically tense round here at the moment Smile
How many days have you done, scrazy?

KinNora · 22/08/2013 21:48

Au contraire Lorna you are scintillating and must give us the story of the ex (I'm pretty sure Scrazy , Bant and myself, to name but three, will empathise)

Wine 'fannying about with rhinos' Grin - I saw him arsing around with rhino spoor - did nowt for me.

Scrazy shite, innit ?

lurkinglorna · 22/08/2013 21:50

scrazy that's the fantastic ex from last year who was in touch, we split due to logistics/distance not emotions. We occasionally send each other flirty texts but don't keep in touch in an "everyday friends" way.

Not pining after him or going to turn down other "good" possibilities, just happy he's on my emotional A-list and I appear to be still on his, so "the option may exist when I move" Smile

Had a massive period before I met him when I was very "self doubting" , trying to force things work with guys who were Ok on paper (just emotionally throwing mud against a wall and seeing if something stuck Hmm) but somewhat lacking for me, so he represents my Restoration Of Romantic Faith Smile
