The Rules

  1. Develop a thick skin;
  2. Do not invest emotionally too soon;
  3. It's all BS until it actually happens;
  4. Trust your gut instinct;
  5. People vanishing, lying and being generally weird to you are not your fault
  6. They should be trying to impress you
  7. If it's not fun, stop

Over, definitely one to chalk up to just a bit of practice ;)

Wisey, that's disappointing :( but at least you've got the measure of him now. Are you going to go to the event with a friend instead? Maybe more eligible and less flaky men there!

lurkinglorna · 26/07/2013 20:39

yeah definitely a bit "off" to me? Hmm

i don't like gushing before meeting, but that's a bit like "i'm not really sure about you, but you can always try to convince me if you like".

also he's making it like the decision to meet will be mainly "your idea" rather than a joint one?

(ironically, the guys who project this "you need to impress ME" vibe always have the least to offer? or are obviously deluded as to their own charms?)

Djangounhinged · 26/07/2013 20:45

Oh the "if you wish" bit is just rude. Like you're going to beg him to come over next Friday?

I've just had a text from Mr Orange, suggesting a date in a place more conducive to good conversation.... So I'll see which glamorous location he suggests....

But have just started a quite nice chat with someone using my new profile....

akaWisey · 26/07/2013 20:50

Yes rude. Which is why I've just texted him to say i don't want to meet him.

lurkinglorna · 26/07/2013 20:53

Grin no wisey, you don't WISH to meet him, surely? Grin

(i dunno, just seems a bit prissy middle england to me for him to even use that phrasing. i bet he prides himself on where to put an apostrophe and calls women "the ladies"!)

lurkinglorna · 26/07/2013 20:57

"meaningful chat" ????? Confused

akaWisey · 26/07/2013 20:57

Yeah well, it matters not. He's probably all those things and more and perhaps that's why I was kind of excited. Another potential twat.

akaWisey · 26/07/2013 20:58

And the lack of response back from him to clarify the situation says it all really.

lurkinglorna · 26/07/2013 21:01

a very laid back "meh" to him! Smile have you got other options in the pipeline?

akaWisey · 26/07/2013 21:03

No its a desert. If it were a dessert that would be nice.

Wisey that's rotten. Was he from gsm by any chance? That sounds like exactly like the sort of rudeness I came to expect from the more entitled of men on there. The others were all rather nice but had very old photos just not for me.

akaWisey · 26/07/2013 21:17

No another site. Anyway things are looking up. A man/lady thinks I'm something special. Grin

Yes, a man dressed as a lady. There are quite a few on the site but I've never been told Im something special by one before.

Sadly he/she's a bit dowdy.

Well 'Lyn' has a cardi (beige) and trousers. And a wig, obv.

akaWisey · 26/07/2013 21:31

But no make-up though. Strange. touch of blusher and some lippy?..

smoothieooo · 26/07/2013 21:31

Wisey is it a dark-haired man/lady wearing a pearl necklace?

akaWisey · 26/07/2013 21:34

No, more mousey. No necklace in fact this guy needs some serious advice on how to dress to please. Grin.

Ah! The reason I asked is that on the first OD site I ever used (Times Encounters) I was favourited by a Kenny Rogers looky likey, a serious David Cameron doppelganger and a man/lady who was very polite but made no reference at all to his 'I'm Emily and I'm a laydeee' type photograph!

akaWisey · 26/07/2013 21:53

i've just been reading bigrandyman's profile. His marriage is a nightmare and he's just waiting for the right lady to come along and he's off.

Takers anyone?

akaWisey · 26/07/2013 21:54

Also I've ordered two spare hoover parts for my miele.
