The purpose of these threads is to allow survivors of childhood sexual abuse, their partners, friends, or parents, to talk in a safe place about what they think and feel. Nothing is off limits or taboo, just say what you want to say.

Just had call of my cousin sil has received a letter off the police saying she may need to give evidence if he pleads not guilty. She doesn't want to tell my arsehole brother but wants my cousin to do it for her as he went crazy at her when she spoke to DC over what I'd told her years ago.

Your SIL wants your cousin to tell your brother she has to give evidence? Is that right? Why does she need to tell him at all?

Sil is married to my brother Cailin.

Yes the the urge to dissociate myself from RL gets worse the more stress I have too. I find it incredibly difficult to cope with even the slightest challenges sometimes. When something stressful occurs I usually spend the rest of the day 'hiding' mentally i.e. doing anything except thinking about or confronting what has to be done or has happened. Then several days can go past and I wake up having no idea whether it's Monday, Wednesday or Friday. It hasn't been that bad for a while but frankly I feel like I have little control and motivation over my life a lot of the time.

This thread has really help me get to grips with things in the sense of accepting and admitting that I have issues I need to work on. And being understood, really understood has been a life saver

Oh I see. Are she and your brother still together? Will she want to testify?

Is she willing to give evidence Dotty? I hope she can convince your cousin to talk to your brother for her. Sometimes people accept things better from non-family.

Don't know if she will I told her when they got married in case they had girls which they did youngest is 12 eldest 14 but she has real problems dark thoughts etc cousins daughter phoned me a couple of months ago over what she was putting on fb she was made to defriend me after he found out I'd gone to police when she visited then he sent me a letter after failing to get an order to prevent me from contacting them.

So sorry Dotty. Your brother sounds quite yucky, sorry. You were quite right to let your SIL know the truth, and I sincerely hope that she'll testify and your brother will back the hell off.

I am the procrastination queen so am often found sat on my arse,I don't think any amount of therapy will change the level of my laziness .

That's really worrying dotty. Is your SIL a nice person? Do you get on with her?

Dotty do you have a victim support worker? I would be calling someone to ask for advice with regards to your case and SIL etc.
