Hello, I'm Mouse Smile and I have a very abusive relationship with alcohol.

I can't just have one glass of anything, I have to drink until I pass out or run out. Whichever comes first.

This Bus is a place of solace and safety, where drinkers, non-drinkers and those who aren't quite sure can come and post or just sit and 'be'.

No-one will judge you, no-one will think any the less of you because we all have the same thing in common.

Alcohol.

And for those who want to read the journey's so far and the original thread by JWN, the lady who very bravely started these journeys for us, HERE they are. Smile

(PS - the title is just for you notevenamousie)

Those are good ideas MsGee. I used to do a bit of cleaning with my little ones, getting them to 'help' mop the floors, wipe the skirting boards with a wet wipe, sort and fold clothes. Whiles away the hours and gets a few jobs out of the way too Grin. But it's a tough time I agree.

I think a walk before it gets dark (or a short walk with torches once it is dark). Eating out, particularly with friends or going to a soft play area or swimming pool is also good for getting out.

I used to leave bathtime til last thing and sometimes drag it out with lots of bath toys, bath paints, bath crayons etc. Then some stories if I could keep my eyes open and off to bed. But if he can occupy himself with some toys Saf how about put your feet up and read a magazine?

thinice · 11/10/2011 18:19

mouse tomorrow may be a really tough, painful and horrid day for you. Take care, lots of strong wishes coming your way. xxx

ScareyFairenuff · 11/10/2011 18:20

Welcome spooky are you drinking today?

ModreB · 11/10/2011 18:21

Good evening everyone. Still no wine in the house, and do not intend to bring any into the house.

Feel very tired tonight, which is a good thing as I will be going to bed early, so less time to sit and stew about having a drink or not having a drink.

Was OK going to ASDA, even walking past the 3 for £10 offer shelves and didn't even stop to look at what was on offer Grin. But then I know that if I stop and look, I will want to buy, so, avoid, avoid, avoid.

Am liking the fact that I am not fuzzy headed in the morning, but need to plan taking in more fluids as I am waking up with a headache which I think is down to dehydration. Onwards and upwards Grin

Well done to everyone who has not had a drink today, and those of you who have had a drink, well, in the words of Scarlett O'Hara, "Tomorrow is another day"

spookyghoulie · 11/10/2011 18:28

Thankyou scary not drinking today and hopefully not tomorrow. One day at a time i suppose.

MelodyPond · 11/10/2011 18:31

It's sober Tuesday! Not a drop in the house, am just about to put Ds2 to bed and then any opportunity will be gone Grin
I'm making a curry for dinner for me and Dd, and looking forward to curling up in the sofa watching tv...

Hope you're all good today, will go back and read thread once kids are a bit more sorted.
X

MelodyPond · 11/10/2011 18:32

Hi Spooky, I'm pretty new here too Smile

notevenamousie · 11/10/2011 18:33

spookyghoulie how are you feeling? Had you been drinking every day? Have you thought about what you think might help? I guess tonight's going to be tough and you might not sleep, come and chat, someone will be here :)

beakinthebeeswax · 11/10/2011 18:36

Hi everyone, a trip to supermarket nearly derailed my teetotal-ness. It was manic and because I had big 3 wheel pushchair had to tie shopping bags to side if pram.

Its funny how stress can make you want a drink. I will be ok in an hour or so.

beakinthebeeswax · 11/10/2011 18:36

Side of pram

swallowedAfly · 11/10/2011 18:37

thanks all. i suddenly decided to do some baking and have made some lovely biscuits that are much approved of and ds has taken to the garden with the dog despite it being dusk.

msgee you sound like a wonderful mother.

we're in a village so no cafes or local activities really and i don't drive so it's a long mission to get anywhere.

i used to pick him up from nursery at 4.30pm and somehow the extra hour and a bit seems like so much longer Confused

off outside for a ciggie and a peek at the moon if it's out.

MsGee · 11/10/2011 18:38

is MsGeeisbeinghauntedbyHorridbabydoll too long a Halloween name?
It is isn't it?

Hi Melody well done. Enjoy your evening. Smile

Spooky well done too for not drinking today. What makes you think you've hit rock bottom, if you don't mind saying.

MsGee · 11/10/2011 18:40

In bed and totally sober for 7 days. Yay me!
Working tomorrow, day and evening so hopeful for a sober Wed here too.
Getting tat ready for Halloween, we don't go guising, but DD's love carving pumpkins and dressing up. As for me, any excuse to eat loads of sweeties sounds good to me!
Happy Tuesday everyone, may not be able to check in tomorrow, but you are all in my thoughts.
Thanks

ScareyFairenuff · 11/10/2011 20:06

spookyghoulie · 11/10/2011 20:08

hi again not and scary Hit rock bottom, well fed up of making a ass of myself, and have been told my livers not what is should be. So feeling like hell and know i have to stop. Been drinking almost every day for the last 3 years, think ive just realised it controls me not me controlling it, and thats taken a long time to admit too. So ill be sticking around.

venusandmars · 11/10/2011 20:12

Hi to all - I'm posting quickly and rushing away again, sorry. I will come back and post and read properly when things are a little more calm.

DD is in theatre at the moment, should know the outcome in about 3 hours. Had an emotional and exhausting day (posted about it under a name-change in chat) and I feel wrecked. I am very much appreciating your thoughts and support (and those of my real life friends too) while I am having to hold it together for everyone else here. When I get you're messages I feel very cared for. Thanks xx
