Hello

I'm Mouse Smile

Welcome aboard The Brave Babe's Battle Bus. There are a whole host of lovely posters here who will support your journey to sobriety, however you choose to get there.

We are a Bus full of drinkers, non-drinkers and those who are somewhere in between.

BUT - we will never judge or leave a poster out in the cold. So, find a seat and settle down for the journey ahead.

And HERE is the last thread and those before it too. Just follow the links to read the journeys so far.

hi lostsock - have had a cup of tea here too and the urge is beginning to fade.I might just manage this tonight.....fingers crossed. It is an ongoing battle and I feel the evenings very hard. usually a bottle a night at my worst.
Hang in there.
Hope everyone else is having a good weekend

Lostsock · 12/06/2011 20:41

Hi Ellie
I was sober for a year and then though it would be ok to have a drink socially-dont need to tell you what happened next ! It has shown me that I cant drink at all.
Thinking about it this friend has issues herself and we dont need to be out for the evening for her to mention it.
Im wondering if she is hoping I will say that I am drinking again because it will make her feel better.I feel really guilty I feel that maybe I should be trying to help her but I really cant deal with her problems as well as my own right now.

Lostsock · 12/06/2011 20:46

This is a great thread Smile had lurked on the others - keep going dementedma am on my 3rd cuppa .

dementedma · 12/06/2011 21:48

am off to bed shortly - still no booze today so am feeling very proud and relieved that I've done it!!!
Bet i won't sleep though, I never do without alcohol to take the edge off. One of the reasons I do it I suppose.
Good night Lostsock - here's to tomorrow

Lostsock · 12/06/2011 22:07

No alcohol here either dementedma lets keep going -one day at a time
Sleep well

BBwannaB · 12/06/2011 22:12

Yay! Ma and welcome lostsock - great name.
I haven't been around much - a busy weekend and not without one or two urges for a drink either - mainly because I have been tired I think.

I have found honesty is the best policy with my friends eg 'I'm not drinking at the moment because I feel I have been drinking a bit too much lately' I find this usually leads to people telling me how much they are drinking! A very few will ask how much is too much, but I tend to stay vague at that point and mutter stuff about wanting a clear head for work etc. At this point they usually lose interest Grin

After a while thet have just got used to me not drinking, although I have to say I was a bit miffed when a crowd turned up at MY house, to celebrate MY birthday, by drinking several bottles of champagne whilst I sipped ffing elderflower. Yes I STILL feel Envy that I can't be a 'normal' drinker.

venusandmars · 12/06/2011 23:36

yay ma you got through it, now sleep well.

Hi lostsock, understand about your friend but your priority at the moment has to be you, sounds like you're doing all the right things.

Sleep well all.

Morning isinde how are you?
Happy Monday everyone. I am scared today - of lots of things - going to just keep it in the day.
I don't need to drink today!
Good luck everyone and love to all x

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 13/06/2011 07:58

Morning Babes,
Hello to new babes Kandi, Lostsock, and anyone I've missed.

Isinde How are you this morning? Were you up with the little ones?

The end of last week, and the weekend has been a bit extraordinarlily busy, and I still feel tired this morning, but in a tired way, not the other kind Smile.

I echo what JWN said about DH. My Dh has never been prescriptive about what I can, can't drink, but supports me completely by just being there, not by offering advice, but not asking if I want wine with dinner either! It has to be up to me, in the end, and I know that.

I have also never told DH that I am never going to drink again, because if I do decide to, that's up to me as well, if you see what I mean.

Crikey, probably a bit early for me to making sense Grin.

Mousie How are you, Nemo, and the rest of your lovely family?, I did notice that you haven't been around for a couple of days. Is all ok? xx

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 13/06/2011 08:02

x posted.

Morning Noteven
When Dh feels a bit anxious about work, I always say, break it down into half an hour at a time, or even less, doing just one thing. Then you get over the first hour or two of scaredy things, without building on them.
Lovely advice, I wish I took it Grin.
Seriously, I hope your day goes well, and Happy Monday, to you. xx

dementedma · 13/06/2011 09:06

morning all
Day 2 and a bit.....

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 13/06/2011 09:11

A bit.....what Ma?

You have done really well. Day 2, a bit YIPPEE, you should feel Grin

MIFLAW · 13/06/2011 10:26

"I am worried that it will be noted that I am trying not to drink."

No one will notice that you are "trying" not to drink. Either you drink or you don't - no one can read your mind!

If you don't want anyone to comment on your not drinking, say you are on strong antibiotics or even anti-histamines.

MIFLAW · 13/06/2011 10:28

"Bet i won't sleep though, I never do without alcohol to take the edge off. One of the reasons I do it I suppose"

  1. don't project!

  2. a few nights' lack of sleep never killed anyone. Alcohol kills thousands of people a year, many of them just like you and me.

Well done on making it to day 2 - keep it up!

jesuswhatnext · 13/06/2011 12:10

morning!! (hello mif!Wink) - my week seems to have started as it means to go on - bleedin busy!!

isindi, you alright?

Mouseface · 13/06/2011 12:47

Afternoon Babes

Welcome to Lostsock Smile I love a nice full Bus.

thurso - sorry, I was off fighting another posters corner. There's an awful lot of sublte bullying going on at the moment. Not on here I though.

Nemo is the same, not sleeping, really unsettled, still losing his feeds with his reflux. It's never ending tbh but today is a whole new day. And with the rubbish weather, it means we can just sit and play and snugggle this afternoon.

DD has exams so she's not sleeping either. Which of course means I'm not getting any rest or sleep.

Been to the docs this morning and I've got an appt with a pain management consultant on weds morning, they had a cancellation! Smile

How are YOU? I was thinking about you when I read about the non starter DVD...... Are you okay lovely? xx

Has Frumpy been around much? I know she was having a hard time the other day?

Who else are we missing of late?

helps self to scone and cream - why thanks!

kandinskysgirl · 13/06/2011 14:46

Hi all, well I didn't have a drink free night last night, I had half a bottle of wine and kept in going for about 6 hours with lots of lemonade...I know it was just lemonade by the end but it kept me from going out to buy another bottle.

However today is going to be the day I stop. I have non-alcoholic wine here, no other booze in and have been to the gym to swim for an hour this morning. So I don't want to mess up the diet by drinking again.

I hope everyone else is having a nice day Smile

jesuswhatnext · 13/06/2011 15:09

kandi - i dont want to burst your bubble but non alkie wine is a bugger if you are on a diet!, its just sugar in a bottle! fwiw i think is revolting too! Grin i like to stick to real juice and water it down with soda, loads of ice and a slicec of lime in a long tall frosty glass! looks and tastes great and much less calories to boot!

jesuswhatnext · 13/06/2011 15:11

mouse - i had a good old lurk on that thread Shock there are some nasty pieces of work in this world! Shock i thought you did a sterling job! Smile

kandinskysgirl · 13/06/2011 15:20

Is it Jesus? (what a funny sentence to write!)

Ahhhh bugger then, I am finding it so difficult to find a replacement drink in the evenings...will try your suggestion thank you.

thursomuchtolookforwardto · 13/06/2011 16:20

Afternoon all,

Glad you are ok Mouse, sorry to hear that Nemo is still unsettled though.
We are an exam household here at the mo, it affects everybody. I am tiptoeing around trying not to respond to DC's crabby attitude!, I know that it's because they're under pressure.

Ma how are you doing this afternoon? I was worried about you this morning, were you feeling a bit down? And Isinde are you ok?

JWN How are the wedding plans going? Have you eyed any outfits yet? I am waiting for two dresses to arrive, both for DC's graduation, one for dinner the night before, and one for the event, and lunch afterwards. I am hoping that as I bought them online from a collection, no-one will be wearing the same thing! (Hmm, unless all the mums have done the same!!!).

Zanywany · 13/06/2011 17:43
