Divorce papers served - have I done the right thing?

1000 replies

Wisedupwoman · 18/04/2011 17:46

Had to name change again to be on safe side.
Been posting on other thread - hope followers recognise this.

H gone five weeks ago after second affair in 4 years was discovered by me but not before he gave many, many clues and slip-shod attempts to keep it 'secret' from me. H wanted out and would have known my reaction to finding out hence i think he took this way to force my hand. Heartbroken as long, long relationship with both adult and teenage DC's involved.

Today the divorce papers went to court to be served. The therapist I'm seeing commented that this has been quite quick. This has set up train of thought which goes 'was this my fault, am I assuming too much here about what H really wants, is he such a monster........'

Need ongoing support about this please......

Hee hee re laddered tights etc. Totally been there. Have had lost oystercard, lipstick on teeth, tripping over on way into room, coffee-anxiety and shirt buttons popping off. I also get a beetroot rash on face and neck when nervous. None stopped me from getting the jobs though!

Many good wishes.

Wisedupwoman · 24/05/2011 21:34

Nope, no scraping of barrels here, no "oh well, lets get her in then", no "we've got to fill this post somehow" - not a bit of that.

I know what I know, and I know what I want. So cheers for that, this time tomorrow it'll all be done. Smile

Hi OP, I've been away for a few weeks but am back again and caught up with your thread.

Just want to wish you all the best for tomorrow.

Remember all the MNers are behind you. You're a marvel.

Good Luck ! xx

Alldownhillnow · 24/05/2011 22:19

Nothing more to add to the excellent advice given about tomorrow. Its your day and the first major step away from all the stuff your ex has dumped at your door. I'm sure that a week ago you wondered how you would ever get to this day, but its here and you're going to enjoy it. I can tell that from what you have written.

Good luck and see you back here when you are done.

Saffysmum · 25/05/2011 06:17

Good luck today Wisey - you go girl! X

ChippingIn · 25/05/2011 07:16

Knock their socks off kiddo Grin

If you need a bit of support - just think of all of us sitting behind them and cheering you on!!

What time is your presentation??

Sorry guys, I haven't fallen off of the planet, I have been boring Wisey (via PM) about my renovation project/life... & I have been depriving you all of my stunning wit & sage advice

Wisedupwoman · 25/05/2011 08:11

Hello everyone.

Thank you all so much!

Just some last minute rehearsals and going over my notes and then I'm done.
The interview is at 1.30pm today. I'll be leaving home at about 12.45, with memory stick inside my bra in case I lose it between places!

Don't believe a word of what Chips says about boring me - she's lots of things but boring isn't one of them - but you already know that. Smile

Maybe i'll hear at the end of the day, sometimes it's a bit longer, but we'll see.

Obviously, besides DD you'll all be the first to hear the outcome.

OP posts:
Wisedupwoman · 25/05/2011 15:21

Hey,

Well I'm back from the brink. If you're interested in where some of your taxes went today, it went to pay no less than 5 professionals to take the whole day to interview one person at a time. Talk about inequality, pah!

One of them was the most miserable bloke I've met in a long time and he asked bastard questions too. If you'd all been there you'd have sat on him.Angry

As you may have guessed I'm not confident that I'm the successful candidate!!
It was the hardest interview I've ever had, the longest, and the most stressful.

So, I have to wait for the call to come, don't know when but usually they do it quite quick so maybe by the end of today, by which time I'll be grizzling into a large glass of something!

So I have a fag in one hand (because someone ate the supply of chocolate) and a cup of tea because I can at least do these things very well indeed!
Oh fuck, well, I'll put it down to experience (or lack thereof) and see what else comes up.

prettybird · 25/05/2011 15:28

Oh yes, panel interviews, the bane of the public sector Hmm

I have worked at a senior level in both the public and private sectors and I have only ever come across panel interviews in the public sector. At most, in the private sector, you might get an HR Manager in the room, just checking that no illegal questions are asked.

A good interview should be a two way process and panel interviews don't exactly encourage that.

prettybird · 25/05/2011 15:30

Oops - posted too soon.

I am sure you have doen better than you expected :). If you don't get it then it was good experience anyway. Make sure you get feedback.

ChippingIn · 25/05/2011 15:35

Sounds bloody horrible - tip the tea out and poor a stiff gin!

Nice to know our taxes are being so well used Hmm Honest to god, they should have just told the others not to bother coming and given you the job - so they know nothing?

If I had sat on him he would look like flat stanley Grin

What happened to the other job that you were interested in?

Anyway, stay positive - I'm sure Mr Miserable was the same with everyone.

I'll be checking in constantly!!!

ChippingIn · 25/05/2011 16:14

Been back 3 times already! It's lonely in here... anyone for a Brew?

ChippingIn · 25/05/2011 17:41

I'm wearing out my refresh button!!

Alldownhillnow · 25/05/2011 19:44

Well done for getting through that. My fingers are crossed for you.

So would you have to work with Miserable Bloke? I can see a whole new thread emerging!!

Its an achievement in itself to have got through it today and you should give yourself a pat on the back. It might not feel it at the moment, but I think you will be impressed with yourself that you got through it and it will give you new energy whatever the outcome.

(Also hope you managed to retrieve the memroy stick BEFORE you went into t)he room! Smile

Alldownhillnow · 25/05/2011 19:45

oh dear! memory

Dozer · 25/05/2011 19:47

Well done whatever happens, what an ordeal!

Wisedupwoman · 25/05/2011 20:06

Hello all.

The good news is that we have a prom dress (at last) and it came in under budget.

Mr Miserable (hee hee). Flat Stanley (hee hee hee).
that's the first time I've laughed today, and about bleedin' time.

Yes I got my memory stick, maybe I should have got it out in front of Mr Miserable, might have put a smile on his deadpan face.

Yeah, well, it's all good experience whatever.
The other job is stuck at panel level awaiting approval, so it could be ages yet. In the meantime I may have to tout my assets around for some private work.

Gawdon bennett, tell me there's good news around the corner!

OP posts:
Dozer · 25/05/2011 20:32

There are many good things around the corner! Great about the prom dress. Have a relaxing evening.

Alldownhillnow · 25/05/2011 21:16

Great news about the prom dress, in some ways more stressful than the interview!... if you know what I mean. How is she fixed for accessories?Sometimes that can be as much trouble as sourcing the dress, although shoe shopping is always a good day out!

Was thinking that Mr Miserable hadn't read the handbook about interviewing people. I thought it was all about putting people at ease so you got the best out of them. He'd obviously not read that chapter! Unless he thought he was in another meeting and was doing the 'bad cop' to someone else's 'good cop'... probably not! Smile

As I have got older (only a bit though) I've got to the stage where I feel that doors have opened into new things in my life as others have closed, and things I wasn't expecting. Sometimes you are just in the right place at the right time and I really hope that something comes along that just clicks for you. Indeed, I am sure it will.
