Would it be okay for your DP to escort a woman home in a cab because she was so drunk she couldnt walk and all her friends had buggered off ???

OP posts:
SpringchickenGoldBrass · 19/02/2011 14:38

If his phone battery had died then he couldn;'t text, and probably didn't want to alarm the OP by ringing from a payphone.

horsesandchickens · 19/02/2011 14:48

You get the number phone her and ask for cash. Delete number. Job done

I can see my dh doing this btw he is too gentlemanly for his own good.

He could of potentially put himself in a very vulnerable situation.

All in all a bit daft. But hopefully nothing more

emmyloopsyloo · 19/02/2011 14:53

It took him 4 hours to cycle 10 miles? Seriously?

Even in the peeing rain my DH could run that in well under half that..........cycling not even an hour. So would I wonder what he was upto for 4 hours from ringing me, yes I would.

The concept however does not bother me at all. If it were the same situation then I'd expect my DH to oblige and not leave her stranded. The money would annoy me at £50 but I'd expect to get that back. I'd also think he was a bit stupid for carrying her to the bedroom, highly inappropriate and in this day and age leaves you open to all sorts of accusations.

However in your situ, whilst I wouldn't be pissed off about the act, I would wonder what took him just shy of 4 hours Hmm

horsesandchickens · 19/02/2011 14:55

I suppose as well when you discuss this with him is how he would feel if the situation reversed and it was you escorting a strange man to his bed!

PeterAndreForPM · 19/02/2011 14:55

why not just leave her on the sofa, after ensuring she was lying on her side ?

squeakytoy · 19/02/2011 14:58

I hate to say this, but his explanation does not add up.

It doesnt take 4 hours to cycle ten miles... most people could walk it in that time!

The cab fare bit is slightly odd too.

It cost £50.. and to be honest, if he has already shelled out that much, why not get her into her house, and carry on the journey in the cab, it wouldnt have cost that much more than the original £50...

Lastly.. what makes you think he carried her to the bedroom.... and why would he? He doesnt know this woman, so surely the only sensible thing to do is leave her at the door, in full view of the cab driver.

ENormaSnob · 19/02/2011 15:12

Thank fuck others thought what I did.

Escorts her to bed then takes 4 hours to get home Hmm

He's taking the piss.

How did it cost 50 quid in a taxi?

ByTheSea · 19/02/2011 15:16

I'm sure my DH would have done this and I would be happy for him to do it -- he is a fine many that way and it's one of the things I love about him.

ByTheSea · 19/02/2011 15:16

man not many

emmyloopsyloo · 19/02/2011 15:18

I knwo snob, I was actually taken aback by this thread tbh.

I agree don't leave a woman a in that state, he would be a shit, help out, etc, etc.

If my DH tried to come in and say he took 4 hours......£50.........and a trip to the bedroom to do so, his suitcase would be on the door.

I know full well it does not take 4 hours to cycle 10 miles, no where near it infact.

A lot of husbands out there who'd get away with such bollocks though it would seem!

seeker · 19/02/2011 15:20

I would have MUCH more of a problem if I found he had left a drunk and incapable woman to fend for herself! That would be completely unacceptable in my book.

squeakytoy · 19/02/2011 15:20

I would have no problems at all if my husband had ended up making sure a drunk woman got home ok. I would have an issue with him taking 4 hours to do it, not being contactable, and going inside the house.

He didnt know this woman. He could have been leaving himself open to all sorts of accusations.

Or he could be lying, and sorry to say, I am in the lying camp here.

Tortington · 19/02/2011 15:23

erm - took her to her bedroom?

wooooooooah

and got her phone number so she wasn't that drunk

wooooooah

i know you have said a couple of times you trust him

i trust my dh

married 22 years

but this would make me doubt him in a v. v..v.v.v.v...v.v.v.v.v.v.v. serious way

coppertop · 19/02/2011 15:23

I have the walking speed of an average snail but could still walk 10 miles in less than 4hrs.

Even if this turns out to be entirely innocent, your dp is an idiot for leaving himself open to accusations from the other woman by going into her bedroom.

PeterAndreForPM · 19/02/2011 15:24

have you rung the number yet ?

you need your 50 quid back

coppertop · 19/02/2011 15:26

And why couldn't he have borrowed her phone, if she was in a fit state to give out her number?

Sorry, but this story makes no sense.

ENormaSnob · 19/02/2011 15:26

the shit would hit the fan if my dh did that.

Ensuring the safety of a pissed woman is fine.

Doing as he has done isn't fine. Tbh I don't believe his story at all.

MooMooFarm · 19/02/2011 15:28

I can't help wondering why such a good samaritan wouldn't have enough regard for his wife to find a payphone or borrow the woman's phone to call his wife and tell her why he was taking so long. He must have known you'd be worried by the time four hours had gone by.

I'm sorry OP and I hope this all turns out to be nothing, but I would be very suspicious IIWU.

squeakytoy · 19/02/2011 15:29

I agree MooMoo.. he must have cycled past quite a few phoneboxes on his ten miles home Hmm.. wouldnt have been that difficult to make a quick call home to reassure his wife what was going on.

emmyloopsyloo · 19/02/2011 15:32

Also I'm sure I'll get flamed, do you know what I thought from your op? £49 travel inn rooms on a Friday night is the going rate, how much is your locals?

£50 for a taxi is mega bucks, even where we live, which is expensive, that's a huge distance even after 23.30 much further than I bet where he was.

I also would wonder how he got a push bike and two passengers into the back of a black cab when one was really pissed. Not an easy feat if possible at all!

ENormaSnob · 19/02/2011 15:37

Emmy, I thought similar tbh.

Or he forked out for taxi to hers, then taxi home 4 hours later.

StealthPolarBear · 19/02/2011 15:37

I'd be pissed off about the time and the money but not suspicious
Although ... in what context did he tell you he carried her to bed? Surely the normal thing to do in this situation would be lie her on her own sofa on her side, shoes off and covered in blanket?

squeakytoy · 19/02/2011 15:38

I live about 12 miles from central london, and a black cab is about £50, so that figure would be correct... plenty of room for a bike and two people in a cab too...

still think he is lying though... lol!

spidookly · 19/02/2011 15:41

Initial response to OP - I bloody hope he would.

I would be so disappointed in him if he left a woman out alone in that kind of vulnerable state.

Or a man actually, but I'd be more concerned for a woman in case of predatory sexual assault.

ENormaSnob · 19/02/2011 15:42

Or £50 for a gram of coke Shock
