Welcome to the Bus! Smile

I'm Mouse and you'll find me snuggled sat at the back where it's warmest!

If you're sober, drinking, or somewhere between the two, you are more than welcome on board.

No judging, no cliquey groups and no closed minds here, oh no! Chances are, no matter how bad you may be feeling right now, one of the Brave Babes will have been there too!

So, come say hi.

Mouse I think your doing really well by only having the 2 drinks. Still feels a long way off before I think I could do that, especially without ignoring the voice in my head that says 'go on have another - you've deserved it'

ZanyWany · 12/11/2010 12:17

Also drinking becomes a habit that is hard to break out of alcoholic/heavy drinker or not

desiretochange · 12/11/2010 12:35

Don't know if any of ye are on Facebook or Twitter but thought this was hilarious . .

A new web application has been designed to stop drunk people posting things they may regret on Facebook and Twitter.

The 'Social Media Sobriety Test' sets users challenges which are too difficult to complete if you're tipsy.

People who fail to to follow a moving finger with their mouse, or to guess how long 30 seconds is, get locked out and are advised to "just go to bed".

thursoback · 12/11/2010 12:37

Two drinks does sound like the model of sobriety to me at the mo Mouse, I know I couldn't do it, just yet, and am scared to give it a try.

desiretochange · 12/11/2010 12:40

If only they could do the same with phones Grin

desiretochange · 12/11/2010 12:49

Ooooops . . only me that finds it funny Blush
Ah well if we lose our sense of humour, then we are well and truly fecked Grin

RedMoomin · 12/11/2010 12:51

I thought it was funny too desire!

desiretochange · 12/11/2010 12:54

Cheers Red:) Just thought it fitted well with what Embrace was saying earlier about her ex texting her last night and the fact that he had obviously been drinking!

RedMoomin · 12/11/2010 12:56

Definitely! Well, looks like it's us two again!

dementedma · 12/11/2010 13:13

no, I'm here and lurking a bit feeling sorry for myself.
Is this bus moving anytime today or are we parked up?

ZanyWany · 12/11/2010 13:14

Oh the joy at the thought of waking up in the morning and not having to check your phone to see who you called/texted and what you actually texted them!

[nips off to check her phone]

thursoback · 12/11/2010 13:14

No, I'm still here, wrapping up Christmas presents, would you believe :)

thursoback · 12/11/2010 13:16

Oh, and don't forget the joy of knowing that you sent it to the right person Blush

ZanyWany · 12/11/2010 13:19

Oh don't remind me Thurso I send a very rude/explicit message to my Mum by mistake a while ago - I blamed it on the networks seen as she was abroad Blush Blush

RedMoomin · 12/11/2010 13:22

Hurrah! Nice to see everyone. God, the horror of checking your mobile the morning after and finding out that you had been on the phone to your long-ago ex's grandmother for about 45 minutes... No? Must just be me then Blush

EmbracingTheTruth · 12/11/2010 13:58

zany Good luck tonight.

Red Thanks hun! I love hearing about you and FB. He sounds like he's a positive influence on you at the moment! Good luck with exh...I know how stressful these things are. Just stay serene no matter what.

JWN I know what you mean about worrying about ageing. I'm now starting to wonder if I'm starting to look old. I recently lost loads of weight and my mum said it has aged me (thanks mum!)But there's definitely a compromise between dressing like a teenager and looking like a frump? You can still look sexy at the same time as classy!

demented Sorry you walked into the ring last night, hun. I feel your pain! Today is a new day. What are your plans this evening?

mouse I didn't realise you still had the odd glass. I'm really impressed because I definitely can't have just one or two!

witchety yeah, break ups are a million times messier when kids are involved! He looked very sheepish this morning when I asked him if he had had anymore dreams!

thurso that's crazy about the knees comment. How ridiculous these 'rules' are! You should dress for yourself and sod what anybody else thinks! I also agree with the sadness comment..well, we're giving up something that was a big part of our lives.

EmbracingTheTruth · 12/11/2010 14:02

desire I think I'd buy that app if it was available!

desiretochange · 12/11/2010 14:05

Embracing I am sure there would be a helluva long queue for it:):)

jesuswhatnext · 12/11/2010 14:06

desire - i thought it was quite funny too!

thanks for the advice everyone!, i may skip on the idea of asking dd for advice on clothes though - at the moment she makes vivienne westwood look conservative! Grin

RedMoomin · 12/11/2010 14:25

Hi embracing. Thanks for your post. Yes, FB is definitely having a positive effect on me at the moment - not just in that (for the moment) I seem able to drink moderately when I am about him (not sure how long that will last though I am an alcoholic after all!) or the sex(!) but more importantly is the improvement to my self-esteem and self-worth. I feel special again and it's lovely!

You sound upbeat today. How are you feeling?

venusandmars · 12/11/2010 14:30

Hi all - had a frantic, busy morning - working since 6.30am to catch up on emails then out for a meeting, followed by business lunch. Previously 'business lunch' - especially on a Friday would have involved copious amounts of wine, particularly since my colleague travelled to our meeting by train. However today we had the all day breakfast, accompanied by fresh orange, pots of coffee and plates of toast and butter.

It was just right for a cold, blustery day, and I am still able to work this afternoon.

Off to read everyone's posts now - looks like you've been having fun!

RedMoomin · 12/11/2010 14:35

Things suddenly very hectic here - will be back to post when I can!

Momentarynamechange · 12/11/2010 14:47

Hello all :)

It's been nice and busy on here. Desire I could have done with that on my phone a little while back. And my PC actually, on-line shopping when pissed is a dangerous hobby Grin

Zany good for you!! My friend's on POF and she's had loads of fun. She's met one person, which wasn't a fit really, but she's had loads of fun with flirty messaging back and forth!

I have to ask your advice. Went to the cinema last night and that was great, no fretting about drinking. Tonight I've been invited round to join a bunch of people for a Friday night jolly and drink will be a big feature. I just don't think I'm brave enough and can trust myself not to drink so I politely turned the invite down, saying I'd love to meet up on Sunday for a walk and a catch up or something instead.

The person who invited me said that's a shame as X will be there and doesn't know anyone apart from you.

Now I feel terrible and selfish for not going!! Do you think I should just bite the bullet and go or do you think it's okay for me not to? It's coming up for 2 weeks and I know I'll think 'well what the hell, I've proved I can do it'. Just don't think I'm strong enough to say no Sad, not just yet anyway.

Mouseface · 12/11/2010 14:49

I'm suddenly feeling very shh........ ChristMousey Wink

It could be the lit wood burner roaring in the harth, or the liquorice toffee I am eating or the Christmas adverts on the tv, or the dark blustery weather, or the smell of warming mince pies........

Ahhhhh.

And yet I haven't bought a thing. Not a sausage! Grin

threesteps sorry could not ignore your post. You have done exactly the right thing. You need to be selfish and do what's right for you at the moment. You made a good call so stick to it and DO NOT feel guilty.

Right must crack on!
