Which is news to me Hmm

He left as usual this morning.

This is not like him at all, he is the most honest, trustworthy man I've ever known, so what the hell is he up to?

Phone his mobile but no answer

phipps is mrphipps really still awol?

phipps · 22/10/2010 13:37

He just rang, spooky. He has only just come out of a board meeting I was expecting to have finished by 12. Actually, he was a bit weird Hmm.

IMoveTheStars · 22/10/2010 13:38

Hope it was something innocent memoo :)

ManiDeadi · 22/10/2010 13:39

Agree with Evie - what is the background to mrphipps disappearance?

mumblechum · 22/10/2010 13:39

This reminds me of that thread a couple of years ago where the OP received an anonymous note saying her dh was having an affair with the writer's wife.

Turned out it was delivered to the wrong house, but that was a nailbiter.

ManiDeadi · 22/10/2010 13:39

Oops x posted sorry

NothereisnobodylurkingbehindU · 22/10/2010 13:40

I think doctors or job interview - it may be that he is in line for redunancy and didn't want you to worry? Men are daft like that!

Eviedidit · 22/10/2010 13:40

phipps in what way weird?
I'm half brain dead from my terribly boring board meeting way or something else?

come back memoo, hope everything is ok.

ManiDeadi · 22/10/2010 13:41

That's awful mumblechum! Shock

Those are the sort of scenarios that I find really frightening, as an innocent mistake could destroy two people's lives!

Simbacat · 22/10/2010 13:42

My dh arrived home in the summer with piles of shopping bags and half a bag of pic and mix. A bit odd.

I had left the house before him that morning. Turned out he had booked a days leave and been to the cinema and shopping!

I said but you could have taken the dog to the vet and cut the lawn and and

He said exactly!

We all need a bit of me time some times.

phipps · 22/10/2010 13:43

Hard to explain, he just didn't sound like he normally does. He was expecting to be done by 12 as well. Have texted him.

Medee · 22/10/2010 13:43

I really hope it is a straightforward explanation.

Rindercella · 22/10/2010 13:44

Hope all's well memoo.

spookyhalloweenFluffypomkins · 22/10/2010 13:46

phipps what did the text say?

Dear mr phipps,Why are you weird? Smile

nancydrewrocked · 22/10/2010 13:47

Lol @ simbacat

Now if only I had a job so that I could take some time off for those purposes Smile

memoo really hope there is a decent explanation (and a bit of good news to after the worry!)

phipps · 22/10/2010 13:47

LOL

No, I said are you up to no good?

No answer yet though he was on his way out to get lunch and some dinner for us tonight.

spookyhalloweenFluffypomkins · 22/10/2010 13:49

Well if he is behaving.

there shall be no dinner for you tonight. Grin

Whippet · 22/10/2010 13:50

It's worrying when these things happen - it's just weird times. A friend of DH's came back from holiday and was marched into his boss's office and told he was being 'let go' immediately, and that his stuff would be forwarded.
They wanted him out because they decided he was 'too expensive' and thye needed to move quickly as in another couple of weeks he would have been there a year, and would have particular employment rights. Hmm

I think it's understandable for people to be nervous about unexpected behaviour at the moment Sad

phipps · 22/10/2010 13:52

I feel really unsettled Hmm.

spookyhalloweenFluffypomkins · 22/10/2010 13:54

what do you think he is doing phipps?

phipps · 22/10/2010 13:56

I think he was in a meeting but I think something has happened at work.

DaisySteiner · 22/10/2010 13:59

I hate it when dh has something to tell me and says 'I'll tell you when I get home'. He works a little way away so I have plenty of time to think up all the worst scenarios - redundancy (was right about that once), injured child, dead parent, affair etc etc.

Hope phipps and memoo get nice explanations.

goldenticket · 22/10/2010 14:00

Good luck memoo and phipps - hope it's nothing to worry about.

Eviedidit · 22/10/2010 14:00

phipps don't let whippet's post worry you I'm sure your husband is just weird in a non dodgy lost my job way.

Text & ask him what's for dinner if it's steak & chips then it's all ok but if he has bought bread & dripping?
