Hi Witchety - ironically I don't really like coffee but the croissants melted in your mouth. I did find that having the odd expresso was a bit like main-lining caffine - my god how do the French drink so much coffee!

I brought back a whole cheese shop so you can all pick whatever you like and stink Gerald out xx

TGIF indeed - and, if you avoid a drink, Friday will finish, as planned, at midnight tonight, in a place you are familiar with.

Pick up a drink now and it could end literally (I use the word advisedly) anywhere and any time in the future - with no guarantee that it will be a time or place that you like.

GF is not of much help either as it looks like she is waiting for me to give her the ok from her answers ..

demented we have old friends from the UK arriving tomorrow lunchtime - it's sod's law - the first week i am trying to keep off the wine and some of the biggest drinkers we know are arriving... long lnch tomorrow, dinner out tomorrow, then long lunch sunday and dinner in sunday night.

On the non temptation side I've got cricket practice with the 4yr old tomorrow morning which will be fun - it's stinking hot by 10am here so I'll get to top up my tan nicely.

o'h and pizza tonight, which always goes with a nice red so it'll be an interesting evening.

diabolik why don't you go for a walk (with gf)/ have a shower/ brush teeth/ have sex/ eat something? Instead of drinking. Take it an hour at a time and remember the cravings don't stay so intense all the time.

hmmm with risk of saying to much about my relationship ..

We tend to feed off each other - so what I am saying is she wants a drink as well but cant justify it because of commitments tomorrow - but If I now go to the pub then she can aswell

nb - this works both ways I will do the same to her -

diabolik - we're a bit like that sometimes - if DH says he's going for one quick glass of wine with a colleague before heading home then the little bell goes off in my brain that o'h he's had a glass of wine, that's nice, I think we should have some when he gets home as now he's had one he might want another and then I can have one too.

last night was the first night in a long time that he drank and I didn't.

Simple. Say, "I'm off to the pub." She can then have a drink. You then go out and either go somewhere else (AA?) or walk twice round the block, come back after half an hour and say, "oh, there was no one there I knew," by which time she will be underway and have all the permission she needs.

Need to go back and read this thread (and probably all the others but then I wouldn't post because it will take me too long) but having read some of the messages I think I want to join but am scared. What am I scared of? My life without alcohol basically. It is my only friend in life.
