I'll just have to start one then.

OP posts:

I think Matt is a decent actor and Brian too, Lilian's not too bad until she laughs when it all falls to pieces imho.

ARchers can't lose for me because I love hating what I hate and I love it when it's good too. It's win win.

But the comedy isn't funny to me.

But with respect, I'm not a big Nigel fan. All that handwringing about Ancient Uncle Bendover, I mean PUHLEASE!! All those sensitive conversations between LIzzie and Nige and him opining at such dreary length almost with a sound bed of bloody Elgar.... that was too much for me....

LittleBella · 12/09/2008 23:53

at Clarrie's jugs.

Nigel is turgid.

FossilSister · 14/09/2008 20:21

It was Neil who was the seed rep (pre-weeners) and he was lured into it by a floozie customer constantly giving him the come-on. It is very hard to imagine.

I am loving the Alice and Christyfurr storyline - you could hear JennyDarling's blood run cold when Alice announced that she was going to have some fun in the three weeks before she goes to university!

I loved Nigel's old Lush of a mother, she who used to be on the stage.

And Mrs Antrobus, 'The Dog Woman' as Joe Grundy used to call her

traceybath · 14/09/2008 20:47

Will is an idiot but i don't buy the total re-invention of emma'n ed - no good's going to come of that union - you mark my words .

I love Linda - she's funny and when they're writing well she can be incredibly kind to people.

Was slightly disturbed by Alan and Usha in the bedroom and all ready to switch off in case it turned into a Sid/Jolene/Shower type scene - that still makes me shudder.

LittleBella · 14/09/2008 22:07

oh how horrible, they did a scene with usha and alan in the bedroom? thank goodness I missed it

ipanemagirl · 15/09/2008 11:46

drystonedyingofboredom.

I'd forgotten about Nigel's mater - she was a decent actress as far as I remember.

Alan and Usha just excuse me while I vomit.... but I guess they want the occasional 'adult' love story rather than all these kids who the script writers don't know how to capture at all imho!

poppy34 · 15/09/2008 11:59

have blocked alan and usha or alan's bedroom from my mind...

also trying to block out the tedious iou discussion...screamign at the radio to end this madness now as no one cares apart from pat about transition communities..unless they involve transitioning her tedious daughter out of ambridge

ipanemagirl · 15/09/2008 12:00

oh poppy I'd blocked out the horror of the IOUs and bloody bleating Susan - can't bear that wretched woman...

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/09/2008 12:03

oh God,Alan and Usha marital bed scene - thank Christ I missed it...has she got her new bed btw ? not Alan's one with monstrous headboard, or did I imagine that ?
Julia Pargetter was a good character wasn't she

ipanemagirl · 15/09/2008 12:07

respect to MAS for remembering the late Lady's name!

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/09/2008 12:07

she, the actress was often in other R4 plays and whatnot...Mary Whimbush ? -

ipanemagirl · 15/09/2008 12:10

MAS you shouldn't force me to a fast drop curtsey in my condition! Your memory is fabulous!

whatever happened to the caroline fostering storyline? oliver has plenty of time on his hands now he is not cheesing.

poppy34 · 15/09/2008 12:36

jura..no nothing happened - tony got mortgage to buy tedium farm , iou saga continued, etc

GrimmaTheNome · 15/09/2008 12:48

Poor clarrie is never going to have two simultanously happy sons, is she? As soon as Ed had that shag with Emma on her hen night, you knew that this was going to provide storylines for the next 60 years or so.

MaryAnnSingleton · 15/09/2008 15:12

just listened to yesterday's Archers - where Alan and Usha have returned from honeymoon - people don't really talk to one another like that in real life, do they ?

poppy34 · 15/09/2008 16:46

has no one ever referred to you as their "beautiful new bride" mary ann?

ipanemagirl · 15/09/2008 17:36
poppy34 · 15/09/2008 17:54

are you often taken nauseous at moments of great emotion ipanema girl ?

ipanemagirl · 15/09/2008 20:18

only when they occur in or around Ambridge!!!!!!!

The thought of Alan getting amorous makes me want to die! Please don't do that to us again you vile Archers scriptwriters!!

MaryAnnSingleton · 16/09/2008 09:09

poppy - that was one of the very phrases that made me cringe
