I'll just have to start one then.

OP posts:
poppy34 · 10/09/2008 21:15

Robert.. why is he not in it more? I loved it when he painted the village hall with jason

FossilSister · 10/09/2008 21:18

Lot more mileage with his horrid daughters. Due for a Christmas storyline probably.

poppy34 · 10/09/2008 21:50

they always seem to shy away from that... linda is always so stoic about them too bless her.

xmas storyline will involve willyem in some form...also saw jack ryder (bloke that was in eastenders) is due to join the cast as someone called ryan who has some connection with alistair

ipanemagirl · 12/09/2008 09:32

So is Matt's mother going to spurn him then? Or more likely have forgotten him?
Will they bring her to live with Mr Wooley where they can be lovingly cared for?

I really hate Alice Aldridge, her snooty voice and her limited emotionaly range, almost as limited as ROOOTH.

Hate most of the women but occasionally like Jenny when she kicks Bwian's ass.

LOVE Debbie, she's lovely, don't hate Pat but
usha, ruth, shula, susan - they could all be swept away without any loss imho and Nigel
and all
BELL RINGING - have mercy!

poppy34 · 12/09/2008 17:27

difficult to tell re matt's mum.. whehter its a storyline or normal clunkily written educational bit...

I don't hate pat ipanema but I do find her boring...her whining over whatever nonsense she is incensed about this week blurs into one over the twenty odd years I've been listening to it

Bridie3 · 12/09/2008 17:38

How did Susan and Neil produce a hunky farrier son? Where did Christopher get those (according to Lillian) ripping muscles from?

poppy34 · 12/09/2008 19:39

oooh..bridie this is an interesting point..what do you imagine the archers look like?

is any one else losing the will to live over susan faffing re teh flippin ious?

ipanemagirl · 12/09/2008 20:49

poppy you can spoil every minute of your future listening pleasure by looking at the actors on the bbc ARchers website!

Some of them look SO SO wrong, particularly Adam and his boyfriend.

But there's also fantasy archers where you can add comic turns to the plot, they're quite funny.

I try not to look at the actors, it spoils it for me.

Although the actor who plays Bwian always wears a

CWAVATT!!!!!!!!!!! which is totally hysterical and perfectly appropriate!!

ipanemagirl · 12/09/2008 20:52

dare you look?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 12/09/2008 20:53

No he doesn't. I have sat next to him at Sunday lunch once, he is great fun as is his RL wife 'Shula'

poppy34 · 12/09/2008 20:54

lol... llove the cravat... but he does look a bit like I imagine brian to look.. actually quite like brian - he might be a git but he is quite entertaining

RhinestoneCowgirl · 12/09/2008 20:54

Oh and the actors who play Shula and Brine are married in RL, which is just odd...

Pretty dull on the storyline front atm, so fed up witht the swap club shenanigans.

poppy34 · 12/09/2008 20:56

yes its life inducingly dull..although have high hopes that cristofer has jsut enough time to knock alice up pre uni..

ipanemagirl · 12/09/2008 20:57

Fair enuff 5gomad, but I did see him interviewed once in a cwavatt and that has stayed with me for ever.

He does look like Bwian though doesn't he?

Swap club plot worthy and dreary.

I think they do familial conflict well, all the wills and sibling rights and divided farm ownership, and dividing houses and parity/fairness. All that stuff I find they do well.

I find that the thing the writers think they're brilliant at is comedy

I disagree with them.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 12/09/2008 20:58

How do you all think they are handling Matt and finding his real mother, I think he is doing a great job.

CatMandu · 12/09/2008 21:00

Swap club is dull, dry stone walling episode was dull but by God the worst is the bell ringing. FGS why would a young man who goes to Bestival be into bell ringing, it's ridiculous.

I like Brian, well I wouldn't want to be married to him but I like his character - I see him looking like the chap who was in To The Manor Born.

Best of all has got to be Ed, I get palpitations just thinking about him .

Who was it who had the affair years ago when he was a seed rep? It keeps bugging me, I was an Archers newby then.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 12/09/2008 21:00

I think they are making Matt a bit less one-dimensional, whihc is good. He was just Evil Property Tycoon before.

I heart Lillian - think DH may aheve a leetle crush too...

poppy34 · 12/09/2008 21:01

agree matt storyline good - I usually enjoy the stuff with him and lilian a lot

and as for the comedy its toe curling (as indeed is any plot featuring pip..could they not have kept her as a silent character)

RhinestoneCowgirl · 12/09/2008 21:02

God yes blardy bell-ringing. Can't really see Christorpher the cAMPANOLOGIST (oops sorry) myself...

CatMandu · 12/09/2008 21:04

Funnier than the Archers is the R4 announcer's opening dialogue 'now today in Ambridge Clary has a problem with her jugs...'

GrimmaTheNome · 12/09/2008 21:19

Probably because he's named after him, I can't help imagining Willium looks like Prince William. With the more entertaining corrollary that I therefore can't help thinking Prince William has a broad Borsetshire accent - don't often hear him speak but it doesn't sound right!

poppy34 · 12/09/2008 21:21

do you think he is also balding llike prince willyum?

GrimmaTheNome · 12/09/2008 21:22

I like Nigel. He used to be such a twit and still sounds one but he's such a sweetie - and enthusuastically rather than earnestly ecological.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 12/09/2008 21:23

I also like Nigel, he is inoffensive and very supportive of everyone.

GrimmaTheNome · 12/09/2008 21:26

Is PW balding... I don't keep up with slebs and royals, haven't seen a pic for years.

no, just a vague image of someone tramping over shooting territory with a shotgun broken over his arm ... works for either doesn't it?
