George can go back in the slammer, for all I care. I doubt that Harrison will have anything to do with it, though.

I wonder whether we’ll be saying “Adieu” to Jill? Presumably they fancy “shaking Ambridge to the core” for the anniversary week.

I am greatly encouraged that there has been no mention of a Panto (though didn’t happen close to Easter last year?)!

RegimentalSturgeon · 28/11/2025 15:55

I think the tractors are instead of the panto. Let’s hope so.

FondantFancyAnyone · 28/11/2025 16:01

George can go back in the slammer, for all I care. Same here, but I like the actor.
I suspect that Harrison will be back when his Corrie run ends. I hope not although I liked the actor on the podcast (the annoying paperbacks one).
As much as I have liked Jill over the years, she is frail now.
I'd like Leonard to stay.
Amber can go.
Please let Brad stay.

Gonners · 28/11/2025 16:32

If anything bad happens to Brad as a consequence of something George-related, I wouldn't fancy George's chances. Chelsea has sharp scissors and No Fear!

Madcats · 28/11/2025 16:34

If they can swap actresses/personality for Amber within a month, I feel sure that they could re-deploy “George”. He could be Phoebe’s husband or somebody moving into one of the many empty houses…or a boyfriend for Esme?

FondantFancyAnyone · 28/11/2025 16:45

He could be Brodie. The actor is Scottish.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 30/11/2025 20:21

I assume it's because of Christmas, early publication of Christmas/NY Radio Times etc etc, but we are awash with teasers/spoilers at the moment. Here they all are, in chronological order. Not sure we will have anything much else before the New Year unless there's a feature in the Christmas RT. Once we hit the 75th anniversary on 1st January there will be quite a lot of publicity, I suppose.

Special Christmas teaser - Tuesday 23 December, 7pm – 7.15pm
It’s a bright and sparkling Christmas Eve in Ambridge. We gather with Lynda Snell and the rest as they enjoy mulled wine and the spectacle of the eagerly anticipated – and hotly contested – festive tractor run. There’s an eyebrow-raising treat on Hannah Riley’s trailer, with one participant not so willingly sacrificing all dignity, and the Reverend Alan gets in the spirit with two accomplices in a novel take on a traditional Christmas offering. In the midst of the cavalcade, Ruairi Donovan finds himself with a problem to solve, with some timely words of wisdom from one much-loved resident coming to his aid at the eleventh hour. Will recent rivalries be put aside as the community comes together to spread the warmest of Ambridge Christmas cheer?

28th December 2025 - 2nd January 2026
28.12 Brad struggles with his conscience, and Chris is determined to move forwards.
29.12 Events spiral out of control for the Grundys, and Amber makes a big decision.

31.12 George goes on the rampage with shocking consequences, and Alice finds herself facing a difficult negotiation.
01.01 It's panic stations in Ambridge, and one resident makes a heartbreaking discovery.
02.01 A vigil is held at the hospital, and one villager has some surprising news to impart.

I am struggling with this: Ruairi Donovan finds himself with a problem to solve, with some timely words of wisdom from one much-loved resident coming to his aid at the eleventh hour.

My chief problem is thinking of anyone who could be described as a "much-loved resident", apart from Clarrieluv.

TottersBlankly · 30/11/2025 20:36

J*y. Or Lynda. Probably the former …

Thank you, @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g.🎄

Gonners · 30/11/2025 20:59

I don't mind Joy ... yes, I know I am very much in a minority here ... but I absolutely cannot stand La Snell! I suppose it depends on whether they mean much-loved by the residents/scriptwriters, or much-loved by the listeners. If the latter, it could only be Jakob for me, which I suppose might work as Ruairi is involved with the ghastly vet nurse, wossname.

Jakob's words of wisdom would probably consist of "Oh, just ignore him ... that's how I handle Kate."

Agapornis · 30/11/2025 21:33

Much-loved - Brian? But that would be too sensible.

As Jazzer is in the Christmas week, I'd like to propose that he and Hannah attach a large crib to their Berrow Farm tractor. Hannah plays Mary and Jazzer plays an accidentally naked baby Jesus.

janeandmarysmum · 02/12/2025 21:16

Blimey at the events in the new year!

TottersBlankly · 03/12/2025 00:48

Not looking good, is it?

BoreOfWhabylon · 03/12/2025 10:50

Spookily, the 🔮 posted yesterday on the other thread that there would be much Running Amok and a Festive Hostage Situation, and that was without having read this thread! Shock

(It now thinks that George will attempt to top himself after the amok-running)

TottersBlankly · 03/12/2025 11:12

I wondered whether the 🔮 had visited this thread lately!

BoreOfWhabylon · 03/12/2025 14:26

The 🔮 has no need of spoilers!
Unlike me Wink

FondantFancyAnyone · 03/12/2025 14:59

@Agapornis , Much-loved - Brian? But that would be too sensible.

From the cast list and taking 'much loved' to not mean by me, I think it will be
Brian, Lilian or Neil, with Brian being too obvious.
My guess is Shula.

As Jazzer is in the Christmas week, I'd like to propose that he and Hannah attach a large crib to their Berrow Farm tractor. Hannah plays Mary and Jazzer plays an accidentally naked baby Jesus.
Grin

** Lilian is much loved sometimes. If only she didn't cackle.

@Gonners , I like Joy. We didn't really know much about Lynda when she arrived, and it took me years to like her.

The Lynda actress is nearly 85.

BoreOfWhabylon · 03/12/2025 15:05

Agree with @FondantFancyAnyone - it'll be Shula.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 04/12/2025 22:05

Blimey, I go away from The Archers for a month* and we’ve got All This. @BoreOfWhabylon, does the 🔮 have an opinion on who is going to end up in hospital come the new year? Please don’t let it be Brad. Please.

(* I caught up with a month’s worth in just over a day when I realised I was in danger of missing my first episode since I started listening full time in 2010. I practically have a Borsetshire accent now).

Either way I’m placing the additional wine order now as I feel New Year Events will require it.

And isn’t it high time Fallon and Harrison admitted their marriage is over?

FondantFancyAnyone · 04/12/2025 22:17

With a bit of luck it will be Harrison, dedded, and Fallon gets his Police life assurance and pension, and takes over at The Bull.

Pop some champers on that order in case I'm right.

Gonners · 04/12/2025 22:25

Harrison certainly has the potential to bore himself into a coma, perhaps leading to terminal fatality (known to the layman as "death"). But "much-loved" he very much isn't!

Perhaps Tony's plan for the tractor parade will involve a re-enactment of The Demise of John?

TottersBlankly · 04/12/2025 23:31

Too soon …

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 05/12/2025 09:58

I might as well post the latest RT stuff now as there are (not surprisingly) no more BBC teasers available. I doubt we'll have any for ages now.

See above for next week. This is the week after:
Radio Times Ambridge Diary 14-19 December
When Tom throws a spanner in the works of Tony's plans for the tractor run, Helen suspects the ensuing frosty atmosphere hides an underlying issue that could scupper Christmas at Bridge Farm. Meanwhile, Eddie has forced Jazzer into his plan to drum up turkey sales. With a free bird on offer, Tracy is keen Jazzer sells, sells, sells.

It's being characteristically opaque on the specifics, Daffodil

Madcats · 05/12/2025 20:21

Keri D usually takes the opportunity to appease longer term listeners with some old history. My money is on Auntie Cardboard or Shula popping their clogs, but there are quite a few potentials in the waiting room. Deading Carol Toboggan might be a possibility.

George is in full blown crisis, but I suspect he will continue for many a year.
