Radio Times Ambridge Diary 5-10 January
Leonard is knocked sideways by some emotional news and all does not go well when he faces a difficult day with the Brookfield family standing by his side. Harrison has to fight to keep his emotions in check when he faces a challenging callout, but then receives a surprising offer from his superior. Lily takes matters into her own hands when Brad tells her he's struggling, Jolene makes a rash decision at The Bull, and Khalil's mouth runs away with him.

Yeah we do - just re-listened to the 10 June episode, at 12:24 Jakub asks Phoebe how she is - 'good thanks, Brodie sends his apologies' - and it's going well, is it, with you and Brodie? 'very well, thank you'.
Presuming Brodie is indeed the father, of course!

I really will enjoy hearing them all screeching at the not inheriting.

So the Highland Contingent will involve just five of Peggy’s blood relatives, across three generations of descendants? With, possibly, a representative of the fourth generation making an unexpectedly early arrival?

It seems remarkably pointless, no? The trip Peggy imagined would indeed have been full of potential - but this, without any of the children for one thing, seems such a damp squib. And Ruairi isn’t even in the cast for the week!

More than five, surely - I make it six, possibly eight, but there may be more ... but unless it's Scotland's smallest castle, they'll be rattling around in it.

Who else will be a silent Highland Holidaymaker?

Given that the producers must have known they were doing this for some time, I do think they could have made more effort. Across this year they could have recorded and patched together conversations between all Peggy’s descendants ‘at the castle’. A week long, whole family Event with Ambridge only voiced over the phone.

As it is, I already feel disappointed, before it’s even begun.

Wondering if the woman Leonard was having coffee with might be his daughter in law? (If he has one?) Maybe she’s on a brief visit from Singapore, and Leonard is rethinking his decision not to emigrate to live with his son. He may be planning (with her) to surprise the son with an extended visit. What I mean is, he may be trying to keep a secret from his son as much as from the Brookfield clan?

Will we be seeing the last of Amber in the coming weeks?

I sort of hope not, because the Grundys could do with new blood.

But more because I don’t want anything to happen that will make George feel life isn’t worth living.

We've got Keira and Poppy to look forwards to. Maybe poor neglected Keira took the money.

I think Eddie has dropped the envelope down the back of the sofa. George will be outraged by Amber's readiness to believe he would (a) steal at all and (b) steal from his own family.

Alf cheerfully stole from his own family every time he visited Ambridge this century, so George would merely be continuing a family tradition.

Where is Chelsea these days? WE WANT CHELSEA!

I hope she has found a job in a proper hairdressing salon and is being kept too busy to waste her time in Ambridge.

Alf was a visitor and had very little contact or deep connection with his family.

But more because I don’t want anything to happen that will make George feel life isn’t worth living.

Why on earth not?

D’you know, I am actually pretty heavily invested in Ed n Emma’s us against the world romance. (I blame Felicity Jones as well as the current actors.) I don’t know if the writers were genuinely better back then, but in hindsight they occupied large portions of my heart. I don’t want anything unbearably bad to happen to them. (It would be hard on Will, too but I care less about him.)

Also the onslaught of MH problems amongst young men is … worrying. Particularly if you currently have one in the family.

Even more teasers have landed on the BBC website and other Archers fan sites, so here's all the new stuff for now. Sounds like something nasty is going to happen around the New Year. Hmm.

Radio Times 29th November to 5th December
Amber makes a big decision that spirals out of control and leads to a shocking confrontation and a heart-breaking scenario. George is at a crossroads but will he sell his soul to the devil or ask for the help he needs? Joy finds organising the Christmas Eve event is like herding cats, as both Tony and Hannah stray from her brief. And at the Carters, Chris puts his foot down, Neil puts his foot in it and Susan may finally be on the front foot.

There’s an eyebrow-raising treat on Hannah Riley’s trailer, with one participant not so willingly sacrificing all dignity, and the Reverend Alan gets in the spirit with two accomplices in a novel take on a traditional Christmas offering. In the midst of the cavalcade, Ruairi Donovan finds himself with a problem to solve, with some timely words of wisdom from one much-loved resident coming to his aid at the eleventh hour.
