Radio Times Ambridge Diary 5-10 January
Leonard is knocked sideways by some emotional news and all does not go well when he faces a difficult day with the Brookfield family standing by his side. Harrison has to fight to keep his emotions in check when he faces a challenging callout, but then receives a surprising offer from his superior. Lily takes matters into her own hands when Brad tells her he's struggling, Jolene makes a rash decision at The Bull, and Khalil's mouth runs away with him.

12th January – 17th January 2025
12.1 Justin faces a dilemma, and plans forge ahead for Ruth.
13.1 Joy isn’t herself at all, and Helen considers her options.

I had assumed that Helen and her boys were residing under a new patio. Perhaps Tom/Tash are dragging her beyond the bypass to see a lettings agent!

Twins both called Amber! Is there a rule against that in the UK? I know there isn't in the US - the boxer George Foreman named all his sons George, though I think they were numbered in Roman numerals, in the manner of kings and queens.

No rule against it - although they usually have different middle names and are known by that.

Spoiler time again. Not that much to update. Either because there is something exciting in the offing or because someone is off sick/on holiday (more likely, I feel), the week beginning 9th November is just solid Contemporary drama in a rural setting. Not even a cast list! Pah. Anyway. Best on Will asking Vince to give George a job?

I hope very much for Freddie's sake that Vince doesn't give George a job: imagine having to be his boss, which Freddie would be, when he would have zero respect.

I would imagine that after getting his fingers burned when he took Rochelle on, he'll think long and hard before giving a chance to another criminal.

George shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a job that involves sharp implements.

I wonder if Josh's brainwave will be that he moves into the Mulligan farm for a bit to be on hand for milking, bringing him into close proximity with Esme...

Is he going to come back to life? Or maybe he was a Catholic, or worse. A local woman whom I knew slightly (but disliked rather a lot) has recently carked it and left her family faced with organising a Jehovah's Witness funeral followed by a plumed-horse-and-carriage trek to the cemetery. I assume she thought she was one of the 144,000 faithful who will b resurrected in heaven? Frankly, that's not a "heaven" I would want to inhabit! They are having great trouble finding anyone prepared to perform what they call "the oration" and although I feel sympathy for the family, the whole situation would make an extremely amusing sitcom.

Ooh Matthew Gravelle is a great actor. I’ve never heard him on the radio, mind.

Interesting … Is Bill going to be a long lost son of the House of Mulligan? Although - no, he doesn’t appear until long after the funeral in a week without Esme. Ho hum …

Matthew G is 49. Bill seems to be the name of someone older. Might be Amber's father.

The last thing I saw MG in, he was playing the father of a child obviously not of the same heritage. I think she was given the part on merit - v good in the role.
Was I wrong to have watched the whole series expecting to find out he wasn't her father?

I'll collate what we have, but it's all been posted already. BBC seem to be a bit slow on updating the teasers at the moment.

Back to our old friend Contemporary drama in a rural setting for the following week, and no cast list either. Will update when I can.

I'm delighted at the prospect of Matthew Gravelle and hope they give him a part worth playing. It's just a shame it's on radio, as he has a wonderful face.

Ah! I knew what Mali Harries looked like before she joined the cast, so that's how I've always pictured Natasha. And I remember Matthew Gravelle from Broadchurch.

@Gonners , he he has. He was quite a looker pre hair loss. Still is but not in the same way. IYKWIM.

The drama MG was in had an actor in a brief part who has also aged, and although he still looked fine, he wasn't anywhere near as dishy as his uni days.
In my box set binge I saw a young him in a very old show and the rewind and pause button were used. Dreamboat.
(Not saying who he was, you almost certainly won't have heard of him and it might out me ).
