Radio Times Ambridge Diary 5-10 January
Leonard is knocked sideways by some emotional news and all does not go well when he faces a difficult day with the Brookfield family standing by his side. Harrison has to fight to keep his emotions in check when he faces a challenging callout, but then receives a surprising offer from his superior. Lily takes matters into her own hands when Brad tells her he's struggling, Jolene makes a rash decision at The Bull, and Khalil's mouth runs away with him.

12th January – 17th January 2025
12.1 Justin faces a dilemma, and plans forge ahead for Ruth.
13.1 Joy isn’t herself at all, and Helen considers her options.
14.1 Rex is left confused, and Neil has questions.

But Terry Barford was very, very boring, so we aren't missing much. Anyway, why would he come back to Ambridge? he hated the place and his father is dead.... and he never liked his stepmother, who in any case no longer lives in the village.

Is Terry going to be one of Markie's gang?

How old would he have to be to have the name Terence? Somewhere in his 40s or older. I haven't met a child with that name since the 80s and it was old fashioned then.. (Retired teacher)

Do we know how old Markie and his gang are? He might be an older enforcer, although I freely admit I've got Dennis Waterman's character from Minder in my thoughts here

Well, we know from their casting of Amber that the production team are not that worried about asking actors to play a character considerably younger, so who knows, maybe this chap will be playing a much older character than his actual age. Re name - it seems not to have died out till the late 1980s. I can't remember meeting anyone called Terry under the age of 40, but there appear to be some dotted round the UK.

Beat me to it. I like the name Terence, makes me think of Terence Stamp and Terence Trent D'Arby. And Terry-Thomas.
The youngest Terry I know is in his 50s.

(Not counting Terry off Brookside and Terry Duckworth.)

The name Terry conjures up that maudlin song from the early Sixties by someone who called herself "Twinkle". All together now: Please wait at the gates of heaven for me, Te-erry!

Preparations for George and orange influencer Amber's wedding are gathering pace. Chelsea agrees to do hair and make-up but, when she meets the bride, it's clear old wounds run deep. At The Bull, events spiral out of control and Kenton and Jolene could be in danger. Lynda clashes with Dane, Stella frets about a BL meeting, and Tracy refuses to attend her own birthday party.

My guess is Amber was a school bully and back then was a heavy lumpish girl called something like Mildred. Go Chelsea!

Chelsea's eighteenth birthday was in August, 2022.

Do we know how old Amber is? (Or care, really?)

I hope Amber was a TA/cleaner/lunch monitor and is now about 35 ... and that Chelsea will remember her. Or perhaps she was a male school caretaker, responsible for the bins. But this is just hopeless optimism as if either of those were true she'd be insane to pursue George.

Brad did seem to remember her, very vaguely, and not in a good way.

Interesting stuff about Stella. I could happily accept her deciding to leave if she takes Pip with her.

If she was a bully, or Chelsea has some other reason to remember her less-than-fondly, then Chelsea has an opportunity to get her revenge. "Oh, whoops, all your hair seems to have fallen out!" She won't do it, but she can at least dream ...

Maybe Chelsea was the bully.

Chelsea was 18 in September 2022 so she is now nearly twenty-one; George was twenty in April this year; I get the impression that Amber was either in George's year at school or the year below him. Brad was born the year after George, in 2006, and seems likely to have been the same age as Amber and probably the same year at school, but Chelsea would have been in the year above George: would she really have bothered her head about someone two years below her?
