I can't argue with that either, but hate her?

Note that I wrote "disliked". It's absurd to love or to hate an invented character on the radio; and yet some people make the claim that they "love" Lynda.

Radio Times Ambridge Diary March 30th-April 4th
Now that Rochelle has returned, it appears that not everyone is willing to forgive and forget, with Mick particularly unsure what to do. The Grundys try to support a member of the family, with the fallout also affecting Lilian and Fallon - and George's actions from last year are still muddying the waters. Lynda and Robert join the Maliks to celebrate Eid, while the cricket team continues to be on a sticky wicket.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update March 30th-April 4th

Joy comes back sooner than I’d hoped

more Neil foundling story?

FondantFancyAnyone · 31/03/2025 15:47

I reckon that Joy woke up one morning and found a Banksy painted on her house, and that's how she funds herself.

Madcats · 31/03/2025 15:59

Being positive, for 13-18 April there should be a few references to past history/continuity if Keri is writing that week. I wonder whether the Gills will get another mention (not least because of the broken robovac)?

The prospect of listening to Joy/Rochelle/Mick AND Martyn G does not fill me with enthusiasm.

Can somebody remind me whether all the Bridge Farm Archers are all still(?) crammed into Bridge Farm; everybody else seems to be back in Beechwood, without an insurance-claim worry in the world!

Bruisername · 31/03/2025 16:01

Aren’t tash and Tom still in their rental?

Best suggestion yet! Grin

I would have loved it if she'd been in witness protection, but then I was a big Line of Duty fan.

Inspired by a trailer (not a horsebox and not the one that ran over poor Weaver).
The Radio 4 trailers that usually put me completely off listening to the programme.

The Archers spoilers are a different matter, I love those.

FondantFancyAnyone · 31/03/2025 16:32

Trailers not spoilers, although I thoroughly appreciate the spoilers.

FondantFancyAnyone · 03/04/2025 16:35

Why did Robert ask Emma if she could go to Ambridge View (Wednesday)?Shouldn't it have been Ambridge Hall?

TottersBlankly · 03/04/2025 16:49

I had to go back and listen again, @FondantFancyAnyone… Last night I was sure I heard something that sounded wrong but I was a bit distracted so didn’t give it any thought. You’re right though. Why?

I was hoping that I hadn’t noticed Robert was calling her over to her parent’s house - but the conversation about piling the branches by the stable indicated it was happening on his land. She wouldn’t have needed his permission if it were her parent’s stable, would she. Nor would he be paying for the work if it were on someone else’s land.

Lord … This is a whole other level of bad. No doubt there’s an extra bedroom in that stable. SW doesn’t know what they’re doing, and Nu-Robert hasn’t done any homework.

Maybe we’ve both misunderstood?? <Hopeful>

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 03/04/2025 17:01

Is there a stable at Ambridge Hall? There is a shed which houses the llamas, but I don't think horses have ever played any particular part in Robert and Lynda's lives. Would the one used by the doctor back when the place was built in the 1860s still be used as a stable?

But Ambridge View doesn't have a stable either. It's all a mystery. Perhaps Shaun McKenna, whose first week of scripts for TA was broadcast this year, has not yet been given a copy of the series' "bible".

TottersBlankly · 03/04/2025 17:16

I didn’t like to ask. Just assumed I must have missed the presence of a stable at whichever place it actually was …

(Not liking the incorrect apostrophe on parents’ - twice in my post above. I blame this tiny font. MN will soon be impossible when I’m wearing lenses.)

(Not liking the incorrect apostrophe on parents’ - twice in my post above. I blame this tiny font. MN will soon be impossible when I’m wearing lenses.)

Heh! Think creatively! Obviously you did that on purpose to imply that while Susan is certainly Emma's parent, NuVersion Neil isn't. He is not the male parent who was at Emma's birth (Neil was the son of a woman who brought him up first in Oxfordshire and more recently in Birmingham; NuNeil was a foundling in Southport and never knew who his mother was). Therefore only one of Emma's parents lives in Ambridge View and your apostrophes were in fact correct.

FondantFancyAnyone · 03/04/2025 22:30

Thanks for the replies. I happened to hear it twice, and had to check with other listeners.
(The main thread is probably negative enough without my input.)

But there's no day release for the antihero of the River Am-dram, so the Grundys face an emotional outing to the nick, where we hear George's plans for life on the outside: will he hold up the Tearoom with a sawn-off or set up a donkey sanctuary? Miranda becomes suspicious of Brian, Martyn Gibson makes a shocking confession and Joy tries to build bridges at Beechwood.

Daily Mail Weekend Magazine Archers Update - 6rh- 11th April

Alison Belbin has played a couple of roles in TA before, apparently - Bev/Beverley Hanson (2018) and Lorna (2009).

Radio Times 12-18 April
Ambridge’s aspiring Greta Thunbergs, Emma and Pat, take the fight to Borsetshire Water, but Martyn Gibson makes his feelings clear and they resort to a stunt that may just make the difference. The Bull faces a crisis and Kenton comes up with a hare-brained solution - until Jolene puts her foot down. Lower Loxley’s plans to commemorate VE Day lead Chelsea and Brad to get engrossed in wartime history.

Total TV Guide 12 - 18 April
Water warrior Emma and Pat gird their loins against the corporate machinations of a Borsetshire big beast - and we don’t mean Martyn Gibson, although, surprise surprise, he’s at pains to thwart their fightback. At The Bull, Kenton channels his inner Eddie Grundy and adopts a hare-brained scheme, until Jolene puts her foot down. Planning for the VE Day celebrations is underway at Lower Loxley and after stepping up to support Elizabeth, Chelsea finds the history of the occasion more interesting than she expected. Also this week, there’s a mystery at the abbattoir, but the key to it may be closer to home than Freddie realises. And a famous face at Grey Gables may save an Ambridge resident’s bacon.

Madcats · 13/04/2025 09:54

I lose track, but Helen has had about 5 or 6 months to find a house/flat now, hasn’t she?

Re Rex what is funding re-wilding these days? Peggy’s money must have run out by now and it sounds as if DEFRA aren’t funding much at the moment. Now we have figured out that Rochelle is likely to be in her mid-40’s I am not sure that it can be anything to do with her.

On balance I think I’d prefer to have a “new Toby” to be swanning in and out of the village causing chaos, parenting Rosie with money.

Does Beth (apologies if her name is Bess, I confuse the two) still work for her dad? It would be splendid if she were to spot that Rochelle was up to no good and sent her packing.
