We listened to Prof Speigelhalter a couple of weeks ago and it was lovely - great music and a nice guy.
I also loved Ian Wright and Alan Carr (who normally irritates me)
Has anyone else got any recommendations?

The wonderful David Nott yesterday held a 12 - hour webinar for doctors in Ukraine, teaching them the specialist skills required for working in a war zone.

Simon Reeve was really good. As was Helen McCrory and Lin Manuel Miranda (sp?) and Mel C.

Thanks for the other recommendations.

PuppyPowerTool · 13/03/2022 22:25

Kelly Grammer & JK Rowling

FrecklesMalone · 13/03/2022 22:30

Came on to say Simon Reeve. David Baddiel and the cyclist with the sideburns were both good. The worst ever was Digby Jones. He choose We are the Champions that they used to sing on a Friday night at the stock exchange. 🤮.

Private Passions is a good shout. Isabel Allende's on is amazing. She has a lot of fun!

FrecklesMalone · 13/03/2022 22:31

Victoria Woods as well.

Doodar · 13/03/2022 23:50

Nazir Afzal

Simon Reeve, what a guy, I always presumed he was from a privileged background.

Richard Osman, loved his, Paul Costello too.

I really hated Alexis Sayle until his DID

I thought Noel Fitzpatrick was a bullshitter and very fake in his, John Caudwell too.

Silversilverstreet · 14/03/2022 00:43

I liked the David Spiegenhalter one, too.
Just after the broadcast he put a link on Twitter. It’s a video he made to the piece of music he’d want most, Numa Numa.

I love it, it’s so cheerful, just people of different generations having fun.

Ikeabag · 14/03/2022 03:33

Thom Yorke's was sweet. Agree on Bob Mortimer too.

Mimijamroll · 14/03/2022 09:04

Yes Doodah, Noel Fitzpatrick always comes across as the super ego quite honestly.

Findahouse21 · 14/03/2022 09:25

I came on to say Tom Daley but see someone has beaten me to it! I listened on the train and was very teary

stargazemum · 14/03/2022 16:04

It's got to be Tom Hanks! Made me tear up a bit

FrecklesMalone · 16/03/2022 10:19

Apologies to anyone sitting near me at Euston as I cried my way through Nazir Afzal. I want to be his friend what a great man.

TheSausageKingofChicago · 30/10/2022 13:22

Nazir Afzal was really inspirational

Loved Stephen Graham too

Going to check out Floella Benjamin now

I’ve met him. He really is fabulous

YY to so many on here.

I've just listened to Ruth Jones, really enjoyed that one.

I enjoyed David Jason a few years ago too.

countrypunk · 19/11/2022 16:57

Zombie thread but Morrissey!! The chemistry between him and Kirsty is RIDICULOUS.

I also loved Anne Marie Duff. What a wonderful woman.

LetMeJustCheckMyCitrusPocket · 29/12/2022 12:55

Another revival of this lovely thread to also recommend Mark Gatiss. So interesting talking about his childhood and so moving.

LadyEloise1 · 29/12/2022 19:27

Thank you for all the suggestions posters. Flowers

LadyEloise1 · 01/01/2023 10:34

I listened to Kirsty Young being interviewed by Lauren Laverne.
For some reason KY annoys me.
Anne Marie Duff is next on my list.

BitOutOfPractice · 05/01/2023 13:49

Oh I have a massive crush on Kirsty Young. I was hoping against hope she'd be coming back to do DID

FoxtrotOscarFoxtrotOscar · 05/01/2023 14:00

I thought John Legend was great. Knew his name beforehand but not much about him.

Ian Wright - brilliant, too.

The worst for me was Dawn French. She is not at all a naturally witty or amusing person and her "funny" anecdotes seemed forced and fake.

Have you heard Roger Waters one? Amazing chemistry too!

Willmafrockfit · 15/04/2023 10:57

Just listening to George Michael, who chose Amy Winehouse as one of his tracks Sad

also fascinating listen to Princess Margaret

Mimijamroll · 15/04/2023 12:09

Another older one from the Kirsty Young era- Betty Driver of Coronation Street fame.
Had a fascinating life, a very feisty and funny lady.

Jens Stoltenberg, I really liked him

I was going to say JS. Beautiful and humble man for one that holds such high office.
