Thank you, @PseudoBadger, for kicking off this long, long series of Archers threads.

Archers All views on The Archers welcome here! New blood welcomed. We don't all agree on all points and most of us are posting tongue in cheek a lot of the time, so don't worry about revealing that you warm to Hazel Woolley, or other unusual views. Grin

Archers Spoilers: not on this thread, please. We don't wait for the omnibus to discuss the weeknight episodes, but we do try our best to avoid cross-contamination from www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/4197199--The-Archers-spoilers-thread-6-Cant-wait-for-7-02pm-Join-us-here, where spoilers are positively welcomed!

Archers For newer listeners, lurkers or those who just have no idea what we're talking about, @DadDadDad has created this useful thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/radio_addicts/3557323-For-Archers-fans-a-guide-to-acronyms-on-the-long-running-discussion-threads-and-any-other-meta-thread-questions-you-may-have - BOOP point for him! (See thread for explanation.)

Thanks to @LiterallyKnowsBest for the thread title idea. I also liked @LillianGish's suggestion which was Conversions abound and it’s not just Harrison - Lily’s kitchens, Hazel’s flat, Jazzer’s finances, Bert’s bungalow...come and discuss The Archers - are you a convert or could you be converted? and that seems like a good place to kick off this thread.

Who'll get the bungalow? Pip, Josh or A. N. Other?

Will Lily leave the cold calling behind and launch a bid to run LL when Elizabeth hangs up her clipboard?

Will Jazzer become a financial whiz after mastering Tracy's state of the art budgeting techniques, viz, writing it all down in a little notebook with a kitten on the front?

Over to you!

Eastie77Returns · 23/02/2022 13:10

I think it’s clear Amy is in loovvve/infatuated but I’m still not sure about Chris.

BlueBlueCowWondering · 23/02/2022 14:09

Can somebody please remind me why Rex is being evicted? I remember he's had plenty of notice but not what the Archers have in mind for the house.

Prestissimo · 23/02/2022 14:23

I think they’re just planning to rent it out at market rate @BlueBlueCowWondering, hence Pipnjosh wars followed by Stella having a look round. I think Rex couldn’t afford it on his own (presumably was previously subletting from Bert in some capacity).

WhoppingBigBackside · 23/02/2022 14:39

The bungalow has at least two bedrooms so is probably too expensive for Rex on his own

Was the Dower House flat converted into the Amway office?

BowerOfBramble · 23/02/2022 14:59

I'm not sure Rex was paying any rent, sure I remember Bert and he cooking up some kind of deal where Rex helped around the house/garden and was a bit of company?

TottersBlankly · 23/02/2022 19:18

Excellent news! 🐷

Surely there’ll be no more need for awful, pointless Hannah now. And couldn’t Neil retire?

WhoppingBigBackside · 23/02/2022 19:18

Will Berrow survive?

BlueBlueCowWondering · 23/02/2022 19:33

Interesting that they're made Hannah sound reasonable and sympathetic for the first time in her Ambridge caree, just as she's about to be ousted!

KimikosNightmare · 23/02/2022 20:55

Alice is beyond tedious. And idiotic.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 23/02/2022 21:04

Actually, umpteen years ago, when Hannah was first in Ambridge - college placement? - she was great, and it was a shame when she left. Then she returned and had had a personality transplant. Now she may be on her way out again and has returned to her old self. Pah.

Chris was an arse. Expecting Alice to keep an overtired baby awake is not reasonable.

TottersBlankly · 23/02/2022 23:07

Hmmm …. It is intensely annoying when someone else lets a baby sleep too long in the daytime, and then hands them back, leaving you to cope with the nighttime sleep refusal.

BorsetshireBanality · 24/02/2022 00:52

Anyone waiting with rabid anticipation of Rex’s new abode?

TottersBlankly · 24/02/2022 01:01

Kind’a … Since they’ve promised a surprise.

suzyscat · 24/02/2022 08:31

Is he moving to a yurt or an eco hut at RA? Otherwise how much if a surprise could it be.

And how do you invite people to a party without a location? Confused Is he having a rave? Ugh.

LillianGish · 24/02/2022 08:38

It is intensely annoying when someone else lets a baby sleep too long in the daytime, and then hands them back, leaving you to cope with the nighttime sleep refusal. Absolutely. I think it's a neat illustration of how difficult it must be sharing the care of a baby. It feels like a very piecemeal arrangement at the moment. I also thought the idea of hiring the village hall for a one-year-old's birthday party was a bit OTT - I was very much on Chris's side when he suggested a tea party might be more appropriate.

Eastie77Returns · 24/02/2022 09:12

Well yes, it’s shared care and each parent will do things differently. Chris could have mentioned to Alice that Martha should only nap for 1 hour or whatever if it’s that important. You’d assume she would know not to let her sleep for ages but…this is Alice.

BoreOfWhabylon · 24/02/2022 11:44

The 🔮 thinks Brine and Mike (possibly with Hannah) will set up in the pig business independent of Berrow.

TottersBlankly · 24/02/2022 11:53

Brian and Mike?

Exciting!

No Neil? Sad

And Rex just carries on with his ExtraPigs at LL?

No reason why not, I guess.

BorsetshireBanality · 24/02/2022 12:24

Does Rex have pig slaughtering issues too?

MereDintofPandiculation · 24/02/2022 14:24

You can’t expect reasonableness from sleep deprived parents of babies

Oops! I meant Brine and Neil Blush

🔮 suspects that they (and poss. Martin thing) will buy Justin's shares.

BeardieWeirdie · 24/02/2022 15:53

Jenny gets lots of grief on here but it’s clear that Brian has a lot to answer for with his “what my little girl wants, she gets” attitude. Alice seems to have forgotten that Martha was already meant to have had a big party, but she turned up to it drunk and nearly dropped her. Chris is quite right that a village hall party with a load of non/family adults is ridiculous for a one-year-old’s birthday party. I’d be washing my hair if I was invited!

WhoppingBigBackside · 24/02/2022 19:13

Oh yawn. I hope Rex and Aimless get on famously.

Who's the scriptie this week?
