Thanks to witchmountain for the last thread and to dadx3 for Godfathering them! Also to any other posters whose ideas I have borrowed for the title.

If I were Lizzie I'd take heart that Freddie's keeping his head down and coping with prison in his own way (he'd know what the other prisoners must think of his posh mum and poss. his posh sister ) so he's not giving them visiting permits.

Freddie was sentenced early in October, so due out early April. Expect major angst from Elizabeth about the dreadful inhumanity of locking him up over Christmas.

ISeeShapes - Haven't heard the word 'flashy' for yonks!

Made me smile that did Smile

< not altogether sure why Confused >

ISeeShapes · 17/11/2018 18:49

I fear I may be showing my age Smile

*I love the fact that Jill is 88 and still driving.

Wonder what sort of car she has?*

Please let it be a black Porsche Carrera if only to put Jennifer's nose out of joint with her super kitchen.

TheEfficientBaxter · 17/11/2018 21:44

Quite right, NaughtyStep! We shouldn't assume she has a sensible 'old lady' car.

She might be a proper petrolhead speed fiend up that Borchester Bypass Shock

Peoples' personalities do change once they're behind the wheel, so they say.

InkySplatter · 17/11/2018 21:53

Thanks Mis

They really do Baxter - I lived with the quietest gentlest slowest chap at uni. He had to get special dispensation for his work for being so slow - genuinely missed a train waiting to get on as he paused to let people off. Absolute speed demon behind the wheel - he said it's because he grew up always compensating for being so late.

I think if Pip were an only child Linda would be scrubbing that barn herself.

TheEfficientBaxter · 17/11/2018 22:11

Just googled Borchester Bypass, and this popped up.

Did anyone ever find out more about it?

I wonder if that wiper removes the saintly expression Grin

I don’t think Johnny knows about Russ. It’s really only Lizzie, Shula and Freddie who know isn’t it?
The telephone call between Jill and Lilly was painful. Why didn’t she just say she fancied catching up with her mum rather than a supper at Brookfield?

Fink · 17/11/2018 22:55

A few other people know about Russ, including Kenton and I think David, and Usha, Phoebe. I think it stopped being a secret once he moved in to LL, they were out in public together and I think he went shopping in either the village shop or Bridge Farm shop. But I think you're right that Johnny might not know.

I thought the phone call awkwardness was to do with the fact that Lily didn't know that Lizzie wanted to avoid Jill so she initially thought supper at Brookfield would be a nice idea and it was only her Mum's frantic whispering which meant she had to come up with an excuse. In the circumstances, 'Oh, that would be lovely, I'll just check with Mum ... oh no, actually I want to spend some time alone with Mum' would probably have sounded even weirder.

DadDadDad · 17/11/2018 23:52

I agree Fink. Lizzie is falling apart and seems unable to think straight - she can't even remember within the space of five minutes to maintain her lie that she fired Geraldine. We keep hearing her in conversation missing what the other person has said and flitting to some other topic. The state of the laundry, dishwasher and fridge were presumably signs that she's not coping.

TheEfficientBaxter · 18/11/2018 10:28

Isn't the omnibus (film?) lovely!

Knowing it's not going to be over with in twelve minutes feels quite indulgent!

Like settling down with a good book Smile

cheminotte · 18/11/2018 10:29

I guess she could have said ‘mum would rather have me to herself’ but I’m not sure if that would fit with Lizzie’s (normal) personality.
I’d rather see my mum alone if I’d not seen her in 2 months.

ppeatfruit · 18/11/2018 10:36

Odd that Lizzie doesn't seem to have a 'daily help'. Or at least twice a week.

So Lee sounds exactly like Tom / Ben/ josh / Rhuari. For goodness sakes why can't they cast someone who sounds different!! I'm cross now!

LassWiADelicateAir · 18/11/2018 10:51

Yes ppeatfruit there is no possibility in real life of Lizzie doing her own house cleaning.

The plotline of turning Lizzie into Miss Havisham is absurd.

ppeatfruit · 18/11/2018 10:55

BOOP It's very difficult to find voices that are distinctive enough on radio. They need to have accents or be different in some way. I hope that Lee and Helen get it together soon.

I know what you mean though when Kirstie's new man ( I can't remember his name) starts to talk in a crowd scene I get confused!

Just listening again to the film.

Dear God, Tom is an idiot. And Hannah is a poisonous snake-in-the-grass. And Justin - supposedly top-rank international business tycoon - has about as much acumen and judgment as a puddle.

ppeatfruit · 18/11/2018 11:04

I reckon that Violetta is pregnant and of course Lexie wants to be there to support her , they can have their babies together!

BertrandRussell · 18/11/2018 11:16

I say again- Tom is 3 fucking 7!!!!

cheminotte · 18/11/2018 11:21

He is rather behaving like a shy schoolboy!

ppeatfruit · 18/11/2018 11:26

Well 5000 There are many examples of such 'good' business acumen and judgement in the govt atm. Hmm

OP posts:
witchmountain · 18/11/2018 12:30

I was struck by Ben complaining about Josh too - "I'll owe him now". Seemed like rather odd and unpleasant sibling relationship.

Anyone else wonder if Tom's blue jacked looked ridiculous and Hannah was deliberately encouraging him to pick the worst one?

DerRosenkavelier · 18/11/2018 12:43

I’m always amazed at Justin’s lack of judgement when it comes to people working for him. Didn’t he always think that Rob was great, and completely believed him over Charlie? And now just because Horrid Hannah spins him some line and disses Neil, he thinks she’s great as well.

And yes, I’m still bitter about Charlie being exiled to Scotland. You might have thought Justin May have thought; “Rob has turned out to be a psychopath who has repeatedly lied, and possibly worsened the flood. I wonder if he was lying about Charlie?”

MikeUniformMike · 18/11/2018 13:09

Sorry to be a PITA but Ms Pargetter is Lily and Mrs Snell is Lynda.
