I've just read that the Button Girls are called Tilly and Milly - and they have a brother called Billy.

Is this true?

MereDintofPandiculation · 16/11/2018 23:15

the Button Girls are called Tilly and Milly I think Milly is actually Molly

TheEfficientBaxter · 17/11/2018 00:22

Oh yes, MereDint, you are quite right.

I remember now - she's the one who plays cricket.

Billy Button tickled me though. I wish he would put in an appearance. Wonder how old he is?

LassWiADelicateAir · 17/11/2018 02:47

Who works at Lower Loxley? It can't just be Geraldine and Lizzy.

The Hunt Ball might be able to be catered for if the organisers buy all the booze themselves elsewhere and bring it to Lower Loxley. LL could charge a corkage and glass fee but they can't sell booze.

The problem might be for the organisers of the ball. If they put the ticket prices up to cover their extra costs in buying booze does that mean they are selling booze without a licence?

It could be a BYOB,

Fink · 17/11/2018 05:45

It could be a BYOB

I think it is BYO, didn't Oliver mention that a while back?

That's not the car I imagined for you Dad3, I thought you'd have something bigger for transporting kids & their violins, cricket kit, ballet bag etc. Interesting thread on actuarial AMA, btw, other people's jobs are much more fascinating than they appear on the surface (I'm terrible for lumping all office-based jobs into a kind of amorphous mass of 'I guess you sit at a computer and type things, interspersed with meetings where your discuss what to type/ what you have typed').

InkySplatter · 17/11/2018 07:15

I'm was learning to drive last year so this car chat has been straight over my head. If it's not a Nissan Micra with passenger controls I don't understand. I only had about 8 lessons before my instructor made me stop for being too pregnant. Grin

Love the actuary AMA - I'm going to send it to my cousin who's just finished his maths degree it sounds right up hid street.

Shoehorning some archers chat in> LL is always BYOB these days, unless it's a family booze free event Confused

ppeatfruit · 17/11/2018 08:24

All fairly recent cars look the effing same to me, the ads seem to show that, I HATE them and the cars. rant over

Lily is in her mother's river about Russ too. She needs a break.

Exactly. Geraldine must have been managing someone. Possibly they are in the cereal cupboard, but it's a massive blank on the part of of the SWs, and totally unrealistic as they would have been providing employment for "local people".

DadDadDad · 17/11/2018 08:50

“mother’s river”, ppeat? I assume that’s an autocorrect fail but I can’t work out what you meant.

Why has Lily made no effort to visit Freddie? I thought the twins has a close bond.

We have a Zafira that accommodates musical instruments, sports kit and the children that comes with them, but my DW mainly drives that.

DadDadDad · 17/11/2018 08:52

I’m not doing a good job of inflecting my verbs this morning. Blush

I also think Christine was written as sounding manipulative but her concerns are totally understandable. My mum was hit by a cyclist and her hip smashed and it's a real confidence knocker. It's taken her years to get it back and I wouldn't say she ever has entirely

Another one here who hears Christine as having totally lost confidence rather than manipulating.

I've seen more than one elderly relative go through this having been old but hale, hearty and independent before the accident and take months if not years to get the confidence back - long after any physical recovery has been achieved. That loss of confidence was a much bigger shock to me that the physical problems as it was such a personality change.

EBearhug · 17/11/2018 10:41

I thought like, as with Lizzie, Freddie won't issue a visiting order for her.

MereDintofPandiculation · 17/11/2018 10:54

Still catching up, now finally into November. "Tell myself or Robert" - Lynda would never have said that, surely? Whatever her other faults, she knows her grammar.

TheEfficientBaxter · 17/11/2018 10:59

I almost made the mistake of learning and taking my test in an automatic car (thinking it would be easier Blush)

How glad I am that I didn't. Once I'd (finally!) got the hang of the clutch, I could appreciate the enjoyment of driving a real, proper car.

I really dislike automatics now - feels like driving a go-kart!

But, I appreciate some of you probably love them. It's just down to personal choice, isn't it, and what works best for you Grin

TheEfficientBaxter · 17/11/2018 11:19

Did you know that the actress (or should it be actor?) who plays Lily, also played Helen's midwife when she was having Jack?

And, she was all set to be in Coronation Street until ITV changed their minds.

Still can't equate fun Moira in Corrie with prickly Helen!

LassWiADelicateAir · 17/11/2018 11:50

Olivia Chaney got it. This is rather lovely.

Oh Lass I try not to go on links for security's sake.

It's just a concert performance on YouTube. Olivia Chaney is a musician. She was on Jools' Later recently.

ppeatfruit · 17/11/2018 12:20

I know, I know I'm pathetic but I don't even go on you tube to see ds any more. I would like to delete FB but it's very complicated for idiots like me.

DadDadDad · 17/11/2018 12:28

Ok, but you'd think she'd come across as more concerned about him, even more so if he's refusing visits - the lack of face to face contact would make me more anxious if I were in her position.

InkySplatter · 17/11/2018 13:35

Lily's got her own problems though and I think she's fairly caught up in them. Her visit to LL hasn't been prompted by any desire to check in on Elizabeth after Jonny voiced concerns to her, she's there for money. She said as much.

She is Freddie's twin and capable of being just as selfish and obstinate. I think she's isolated herself with her own stubbornness. I think she returned to solve a financial hole but her natural good nature will win out and she will intervene in Elizabeth's descent in madness, hopefully giving her enough respite from rank Russ to make good her escape.

When did Freddy get sent down? When's he due back?
I was so overjoyed to hear Lily again but actually Chris and Peggy interest me more ATM.

ISeeShapes · 17/11/2018 15:09

DDD - that is the kind of car I thought it would be! In my experience the car of a male actuary will either be very practical or very flashy.

Fink - that was an uncanny discription of most of my (actuarial) work days. Maybe a few numbers in there too...

Catching up on the week. I was wondering why David and Ruth don’t tell Linda to take her rehearsals elsewhere - or clean the barn herself. Didn’t she bully them into letting her use it in the first place?
