Thanks to witchmountain for the last thread and to dadx3 for Godfathering them! Also to any other posters whose ideas I have borrowed for the title.

The Efficient One of those 2 adjectives suits Jazzer but 'innocent' certainly not; he has a history of preying on STAH women on his milk round. He and Hannah are suited with their 'sexual antics' .

She's unpleasant though, she used the FWB , but hasn't the guts to actually mean it because she's obviously peeed off that Tom is bringing Nat. home for the night.

Thanks East That's made me feel better Grin They do look nice though, perhaps a bit too flash for our kitchen.

birdsdestiny · 29/11/2018 20:55

Its difficult to say if jazzer was preying on those women as we didn't hear the encounters. They may have been more the happy with the arrangement! I wasn't keen on the way he talked about those women however. And I hated the way he talked about Hannah.

MikeUniformMike · 29/11/2018 21:14

Nothing wrong with a bit of comedy. The thought of Neil as a Poldark hero is enough to keep me chuckling.

JessieMcJessie · 29/11/2018 21:38

Jazzer’s accent is fine, if he was supposed to have arrived off the bus from Glasgow a couple of months ago. However it’s a bit oddly pure Glaswegian for someone who has supposedly grown up in Borsetshire, albeit in a Glaswegian family. He uses far too much vernacular vocabulary for someone who is not living in Scotland, Though I suppose you could say that he is unapologetic about whether or not people understand him.
I think that, for radio drama, having a mix of accents is important, so I’m happy to go with it. Interestingly the actor grew up in a Scottish enclave in Derby, I’d be interested to know how he sounds when not in character.

(I am Scottish by the way).

witchmountain · 29/11/2018 21:46

Maybe there’s a Scottish enclave in Borsetshire.

EBearhug · 30/11/2018 01:21

Did she actually say that she didn't want to move her girls to the UK though?

Possibly not overtly, but otherwise in all but name. She went on about how they would miss their friends and extended family. She understands that to make the decision for her and Roy to be together has a big effect on other people they love, and that in the end, it's not just about the two of them and what they want. Not sure Roy has absorbed any of what she has said about that side of things, though. Nor is he listening to what she hasn't said.

As for Jazzer - he's always fancied Hannah. He's settled down a lot in the last few years, and I have the impression he hasn't shagged around recently, partly because he was (is) holding a torch for Fallon. I think there's a risk he'll end up hurt and used by Hannah, because she's trying to get back at Tom. He's certainly not innocent, but I think his heart is mostly in the right place these days, and he's probably not as up for casual sex as he once was. OTOH,if that's all Hannah is offering, he probably will, with part of him hoping it won't be a one-off.

NotANotMan · 30/11/2018 06:05

Roy is making me furious at the moment. And does he have another child? I thought it was only phoebe but Lexi mentioned a 10 year old?

ADarkandStormyKnight · 30/11/2018 06:16

Roy is father to Abbi with the lovely Hayley. They had to go through quite a lot to have her - it requires a guest appearance by Dr Robert Winston. Then Roy shagged Liz, who had also been Hayley’s employer for many years.

On Jazzer, I imagine they’ll have a drunken shag and I’m expecting a comedic moment in the hallway with Alistair or Jim. I’d like it if they bonded over their mutual love of pigs and beer.

witchmountain · 30/11/2018 06:20

Yes, there’s Abbie www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/profiles/2FgQZ2jkQy8510skZTsRhLM/abbie-tucker

Her and Hayley live in Birmingham now. From the amount Roy mentions seeing her, it’s debatable whether she’d notice he’d moved to Bulgaria.

NotANotMan · 30/11/2018 06:53

Oh! Yes I didn't even know about Abbi. How can Lexi stand Roy? Surely his behaviour recently has made her actually relieved she dumped him!

EBearhug · 30/11/2018 08:09

From the amount Roy mentions seeing her, it’s debatable whether she’d notice he’d moved to Bulgaria.

This is true. OTOH, he's not been on air much at all.till the last couple of weeks, so he could have been spending weeks with her. Not that anyone else mentioned it either...

Karting1967 · 30/11/2018 08:23

I was only half listening last night, what was the ‘significant development’ for the Aldridges?

TheEfficientBaxter · 30/11/2018 08:26

They had a decent offer made for the house.

KingscoteStaff · 30/11/2018 08:29

Roy is a bit of a problem for a script writer - half his dialogue could be:
"Oh yes, I was talking to/saw/had lunch with/got a message from...
Dad/Vicky/Bethany/Hayley/Abbie/Brenda/Brenda's nameless fiance the other day, they were well."

Minimammoth · 30/11/2018 08:37

It is weird, there is never a mention of him having Abbie at any time. Come on SW wake up.

LillianGish · 30/11/2018 08:44

In a way Roy is more like a real life character - most people don’t live next door to or even in the same house as their relatives and ex-wives. They don’t usually work together either. Obviously TA wouldn’t work if all the characters were like this, but I think we can safely assume Roy is in touch with all these people even if he is not constantly name dropping. It’s also realistic that Roy’s baggage and Lexi’s own baggage make it complicated for them to get together - when Lexi says it’s complicated she’s not obfuscating. Incidentally did anyone see that documentary about the Corinthia hotel last night where one of the chief housekeeping staff was Bulgarian and happened to mention that she’d come to the U.K. as a strawberry picker? DH and I both shouted “Lexi” and wondered if Lexi might end up in a similar position at GG..

TheEfficientBaxter · 30/11/2018 08:53

witchmountain - really sorry to be a pedant, but your last post made my teeth itch!

Her and Hayley live in Birmingham shoud be: She and Hayley live in Birmingham.

You have to be able to split the two people up and say "Hayley lives in..." Or "She lives in..."

You would never say "Her lives in...", would you?

And I'm not singling you out especially! Countless MNers do it, and I always wonder why no one seems to realise how completely and utterly and obviously wrong it sounds and looks.

C8H10N4O2 · 30/11/2018 08:55

My point is that if he married Lexi, her girls would be able to live over here

That still leaves the same problem - children having to get on airplanes to see their fathers. Plus they sound close to the DGM who cares for them when Lexi is working in the UK and of course they are old enough to express a preference and quite possibly don't want to be uprooted and move to the UK.

ppeatfruit · 30/11/2018 09:26

Yes C8H Lexi's daughters are teenagers and no doubt have a firm social circle. it's an age when peers are important.

The thought of beginning again, learning English properly, getting a new Dad, new country etc. etc. is enough to send most teenagers into a spin of negativity!

OP posts:
LillianGish · 30/11/2018 09:40

Apart from anything else, I'm sure the last thing the SWs want is two Bulgarian teenagers to add into the mix.

Fink · 30/11/2018 09:41

Abbie was visiting Roy at Halloween, she was at Lower Loxley with him. I think from the way no one remarked on it (à la 'Hello Abbie, we haven't seen you for a while. How's your Mum?') we were supposed to think that he regularly has her at weekends and holidays.

ppeatfruit · 30/11/2018 09:45

Aaah Lilian You forget that the SW's are honour bound to present us with drama now!! 2 lovely Bulgarian girls would definitely add a fair bit of drama to AMB. Grin

OP posts:
LillianGish · 30/11/2018 09:52

Abbie was visiting Roy at Halloween Good point. She only lives in Birmingham, which is just down the road so I'm quite prepared to accept that he sees her without a huge song and dance being made of it. After all, I can accept he continues to share a house with Kirsty even though she seems to have been consigned to the airing cupboard at the Health Club in GG.

ChampooPapi · 30/11/2018 09:56

A very Jazzer heavy episode last night...be still my beating heart Grin

Sorry, but I am glad this situation with Hannah has now developed to having a sleepover with the Scottish legend, It'll cause drama and I love it!
