Thanks to witchmountain for the last thread and to dadx3 for Godfathering them! Also to any other posters whose ideas I have borrowed for the title.

Ebear Isn't the small casserole a 'marmite' ? Not the yeast product Grin

I just can't see Pat or Jill having Le Creuset more elderly Pyrex with flowers round the side or those deep stovetop two handled enamel pans with flowers on bought in the 70s and still going strong. JD definitely Le Creuset

grumiosmum · 28/11/2018 17:00

Gobsmacked. apparently Stich 'n' Bitch has been going since the war. I thought it was a recent invention. So says Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stitch_%27n_Bitch

MerdedeBrexit · 28/11/2018 17:09

A casserole in France is a saucepan, a cocotte or marmite (preferably by Le Creuset!) is the dish in which a casserole or stew is cooked, I think. Mind you, these Genevan soup tureens (marmites) are quite good, too Grin But I love Marmite, anyway Grin

Brookfield has an Aga as it used to get mentioned fairly often. I don’t imagine anyone but Jill knows how it works - they’re all going to be very hungry when she croaks it.

TheEfficientBaxter · 28/11/2018 19:13

Who says 'you know' to euphamise having sex these days?

I reckon the language would be a bit more graphic in reality.

SaffyRosie · 28/11/2018 21:16

Maybe Hannah will get her come uppance when she is discovered being mean to the pigs.

MadameButterface · 28/11/2018 21:20

Hello I haven’t listened to tonight’s episode or anything but i wanted to share with you all that i sometimes put cinnamon in veg chilli, just a little dab. I am struggling to imagine it going with lamb though. She was probably going for a middle eastern vibe. Poor maligned pat #justiceforpat

5000FingersofDrT · 28/11/2018 23:09

Given the amount JennyDarling splurged on the Dream Kitchen, she must surely have a Lacanche cooker, at the very least.

(Belatedly applauds R4 for best pun of the thread)

Paintingtheroseswhite · 28/11/2018 23:13

Something like these

I presume Marmite jars are the shape they are to mimic some sort of tureen of that name.

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 29/11/2018 00:05

Exactly those casserole pots, plus these pyrex dishes.

Yes - the picture on the label is the old shape marmite on which the jar is modeled.

I have a decades old Le Creuset marmitout, which I assume derives from the same name and is the world's most useful item when starting out.

UniversalAunt · 29/11/2018 00:42

Ditto marmitout.

DoctorTwo · 29/11/2018 02:11

Marmite? I can take it or leave it tbh.

BertrandRussell · 29/11/2018 06:32

My favourite ever line from The Good Life - " I do hope nobody will gag at a petit marmite"
Grin

LillianGish · 29/11/2018 06:41

I somehow don’t think Hannah was expecting Tom’s confession to get such a relaxed reception. Does Tom now need to tell Natasha about dumping Kirsty at the altar and then going on to conceive a child with her or is she going to hear that from someone else and find out he’s not been as full and frank as first appeared?

LillianGish · 29/11/2018 06:46

I’m not sure I like all those casserole pot photos - it’s almost like seeing photos of the cast Grin. We will need to listen extra carefully to the culinary sound effects to try and detect which ones are being used.

echt · 29/11/2018 06:57

Those Pyrex casserole dishes are well retro, and worth a bit, but not as gobsmackingly expense as Le Creuset, natch.

grumiosmum · 29/11/2018 08:21

Cinnamon with lamb is definitely a thing. I make a delicious lamb stew with aubergines, honey & cinnamon! Or possibly a casserole.

I also have full set of the cooking pots paintingtheroseswhite posted in my holiday house. At home though it's Le Creuset all the way ...

NotdeadyetBOING · 29/11/2018 08:53

Please please please can we have 'stitch the bitch', 'a whiff of Snell' and some shabby Poldark reference all carefully woven (boom boom) into next thread title?

I reckon Hannah will be furious that Natasha has taken the FWB news so well. She might have to try a bit harder in her efforts to thwart the path of lurve. Maybe loitering about in come-hither lingerie or similar??

ppeatfruit · 29/11/2018 08:53

5000fingers OMG Lacanche !!!! The range of my dreams!!!!

Both those casserole\saucepan sets were proudly used by MIL GRHS They take me back! To Sunday lunches at 1pm. with soggy cabbage and indeterminate meat (you could only tell what it was had been by the accompanying condiments). Also poor DH on the phone to her at 10am "Don't put the beef on now Mum pleeese."

Yes Notdead Are you willing? With Dad's blessing of course!

OP posts:
NotdeadyetBOING · 29/11/2018 09:11

Definitely willing. Just not sure if I am of the right calibre for such an august task...... I defer to more senior members of the thread for a decision..

ppeatfruit · 29/11/2018 09:15

Not to blow my own trumpet of course, but someone mentioned (in this or the last thread , they move so fast I can't remember Grin ) that it was down to the current title composer to suggest the next one and that's ME Grin
