Archers

No, that's not a jokey exaggeration, this is really the 93rd thread in a series started by PseudoBadger five years ago! In fact, post number Star 90,000 Star in the "official" count will be made on this thread.

Archers

Lovers of The Archers welcome (along with the rest of us who have a more complicated relationship with the "TA" Smile).

One rule we try to stick to: No mentioning of future episode plotlines published in the Radio Times etc. However, once an episode has aired, say what you like!

Archers

What is going to happen to Freddie? And are we ever going to hear from Lily again?
I also am wondering what it will take for Kenton to apologise to Fallon...

Nigel was Shula’s boyfriend before he and Lizzie got together.

Not to mention Richard Locke - brief as his reappearance was, it mostly seemed to be about him getting close to Elizabeth, whereas back in the '90s, he was having an affair with Shula.

Not sure how the rest of the family will feel about her bailing out its richest member who is only in that position because he did something criminal and is selling the house because his spoiled daughter refuses to pitch her yurts in an alternative spot.

LilG on the money as usual!

Belated fanks for the fred DDD

MereDintofPandiculation · 25/09/2018 14:51

Having just lost my second cat my mind is turning to gloomy thoughts - have they decided to use Freddy to explore the high rate of suicides in Young Offender Institutions?

MrsArthurShappey · 25/09/2018 15:09

Oh god I hope not. Flowers for your loss mere

LillianGish · 25/09/2018 15:37

Flowers MereDint so sorry about your cats.

birdsdestiny · 25/09/2018 15:51

I am afraid I agree, I think there have been lots of hints about Freddie.

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 25/09/2018 15:56

Gosh, that's awful news about the cats, Mere. I'm sorry. Thanks

Peartree17 · 25/09/2018 16:08

Well, if Peggy does decide to use her money in that way, there will be plenty of posters on Mumsnet to shore up her decision and tell disgruntled family members that they have no right to even the mildest flicker of disappointment as it is Peggy's money to do with as she wishes. And shame on any family members who hope for equal treatment in financial terms.

Actually, didn't Peggy have a terrible crisis of conscience over how she had discriminated among her children with her will when Tony got trampled by the bull and lay languishing? Surely she wouldn't step on that merry-go-round again?

So sorry about your cats Mere. Were they in the same litter? it seems so hard to lose two so close together.

QuaterMiss · 25/09/2018 17:06

That’s grim luck Mere. Commiserations

KitchenFloor · 25/09/2018 18:26

I suppose it's a bit like mother like daughter with Lily being so horrible to Fallon

glamorousgrandmother · 25/09/2018 18:34

Yeo Valley Kefir is on special offer at Sainsbury's - £1. It's actually very nice.

Minimammoth · 25/09/2018 18:43

As Pseudo has relinquished her crown,I feel Dad3 should now be known as the Threadfather.

MereDintofPandiculation · 25/09/2018 19:25

Thanks for all the flowers. It really does help. No, not same litter, now suspecting (probably accidental) poisoning. Different symptoms, but both went from apparently healthy to no more in a matter of hours.

Minimammoth · 25/09/2018 19:43

That’s awful Mere how old were they?

Exexexcel · 25/09/2018 20:45

How horrible. I'm sorry for your loss. Losing pets is tough Flowers☹️

witchmountain · 25/09/2018 20:46

Oh that’s horrible Mere, I’m so sorry.

buckingfrolicks · 25/09/2018 21:06

Mere I'm very sorry to read about your loss. They climb into our hearts, the furry little blighters, and leave a terrible hole.

LassWiADelicateAir · 25/09/2018 21:18

Anti- boop Kenton. What a prat.

witchmountain · 25/09/2018 21:45

But BOOP for Lizzie and Freddie.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/09/2018 23:27

Just caught up again.

Thanksthat's awful, mere, so sorry.

I thought there was a good contrast between the Lizzie/Alistair conversation where a rift could easily have developed if he hadn't risen above it (because their shared concern for Freddie was more important) - and the Fallon/Kenton spat (Kenton's attitude isn't doing anything positive for Freddie)

echt · 25/09/2018 23:46

Presumably if Freddie goes ahead with changing his statement, the court hearing will reveal to KentonThe Numpty that he will need plenty of condiments to go with the gigantic slice of humble pie he'll be eating. Or will he turn that into some youthful silliness on Freddie's part?

LassWiADelicateAir · 25/09/2018 23:59

I'm slightly puzzled at how Freddy's confession is going to be introduced. I thought he had pled guilty at the magistrates' court but the magistrate had referred it to the Crown Court for sentencing?

If that is correct isn't this hearing the sentencing hearing where a plea in mitigation of sentencing might be led rather than Freddy confessing. There won't be new evidence introduced at this stage will there?

DadDadDad · 26/09/2018 00:15

I take it that the confession will show that Freddie is willing to face up to the truth (and so will be accompanied by warm words about how deeply sorry he is), and also (as Lizzie) says protect him from getting into a lot more trouble if these things are unearthed later, and finally by cooperating with the police in providing another name, he will get a few points in his favour - all will make the sentencing judge smile kindly on him.

That's what the SWs seem to be implying - I've no idea if judges are so easily swayed when it comes to drugs. Hmm

By the way, near the top of the thread, I predicted the 90,000th post will be on Thursday. I realised by Monday that we running faster than that. I expect at some point on Wednesday (today!) that milestone will fall... Archers

I don't really understand how half the village appears to know of Ellis, yet the polices email totally unaware of any hint of his involvement.

I also wondered briefly about the crown court, but then realised that Borsetshire law probably operates differently than in the rest of England and Wales and decided not to waste my time on it.
