Archers

No, that's not a jokey exaggeration, this is really the 93rd thread in a series started by PseudoBadger five years ago! In fact, post number Star 90,000 Star in the "official" count will be made on this thread.

Archers

Lovers of The Archers welcome (along with the rest of us who have a more complicated relationship with the "TA" Smile).

One rule we try to stick to: No mentioning of future episode plotlines published in the Radio Times etc. However, once an episode has aired, say what you like!

Archers

What is going to happen to Freddie? And are we ever going to hear from Lily again?
I also am wondering what it will take for Kenton to apologise to Fallon...

witch - save that question for about a year’s time.

OP posts:
elkiedee · 22/09/2018 22:02

Surely it won't take a year? I understand that each thread is a little short of 1000 posts but even so if there have been 93 threads in about 5 years we should get to 100,000 posts somewhere on thread #101 in less than 6 months.

witchmountain · 22/09/2018 22:25

Depends on how dramatic the storylines are.

DadDadDad · 23/09/2018 00:00

What witch said. In 2016, we motored through threads - when Helen stabbed Rob, we had 1000 posts in 24 hours! But of late, posting rate has pootled along around 30 per day, so 1000 posts takes over a month.

Because we don't quite fill each thread before starting the next, post 100,000 will be on thread #103.

Thanks for the new thread, DDD - and for suggesting the title, Quater.

I'm also with Gersemi in thinking that Freddie might be the one to smooth things over with Fallon and Kenton.

(And I don’t even like popcorn ...)

Spreading You are very welcome. No doubt you are aware that a big bowl of (uncooked) quinces gives a lovely smell to the kitchen or any warm room. I LOVE quinces!!

Yes Dad We should hold our own F & P show!

ADarkandStormyKnight · 23/09/2018 10:12

Sounds like Alistair is scoring at cricket. Go Alistair!

autumntimebrowns · 23/09/2018 10:38

So a herd of 30 montbeliards cows producing on average 17 litres per day is 510 litres per day. Which would make approx 56.10kg per day which is nearly 400 kg per week! That's more than 20 tonnes a year. I haven't factored in A drying off period for the cows. And montbeliards produce considerably less than many other dairy breeds, although the proteins are higher and so good for cheese making. Hmm, have the SW been under playing the scale of the cheese making for all these years ( unlikely as helen gets praised to the heavens for everything she does) or do they not quite have a handle on cheese Making?

DadDadDad · 23/09/2018 11:02

autumn - I'm impressed by your knowledge of the figures. On the last thread, someone linked to their local newspaper with an article about some raw milk —hipster— producer who was approached by the SW doing detailed research for this storyline. So they must think it stacks up... Hmm

OP posts:
DadDadDad · 23/09/2018 11:04

That was meant to read hipster - witty strikeout fail.

Is there a better way to spend a rainy Sunday morning than listening to the Archers film while doing a bit of baking?
Even if you heard all the episodes during the week.
(Rhetorical question obviously!)

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 23/09/2018 11:09

Thanks for the new thread, DDD, and don't be a stranger, Pseudo!

Minimammoth · 23/09/2018 11:19

Runs it at the smell of baking. What we got Cheminotte?

autumntimebrowns · 23/09/2018 11:40

Google is my friend! Although I will admit that in a dim and distant past I did use to milk cows. Never made cheese though. I did my calculations on the back of an envelope. I do hope I wasn't out by muddling up my decimal places Smile

QuaterMiss · 23/09/2018 11:45

Is there a better way ...?

Nope!

Grin Cake
cheminotte · 23/09/2018 12:27

Home made bread rolls and banana cake Minimammoth . Half the cake was demolished at lunch I’m afraid though.

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/09/2018 12:29

Thanks D^3. I also hope Pseudo will continue to visit from time to time.

The 🔮 is perturbed at the plans for raw milk production at Bridge Farm. To have poisoned the local populace once can be regarded as a misfortune, but this is tempting providence...

Gersemi · 23/09/2018 12:34

I don't think that, for the purposes of a divorce based on adultery, it would matter if Alastair had his one night stand after Shula had been to see solicitors. I think that all you have to prove for a divorce based on adultery is that one spouse has committed adultery and the other cannot continue to live with them. We know that she hadn't started off divorce proceedings,at the relevant time, so Shula could effectively say that they might have got back together till the adultery happened.

ppeatfruit · 23/09/2018 12:48

Iam about to make spelt bread.

TeenTimesTwo · 23/09/2018 12:50

Does anyone else here get the impression that Neil is out of his depth with the paperwork side of the pig unit?
I think Neil and Hannah should do a job swap. They'd both be happier, and listening to Susan ranting about it would be fun.

MereDintofPandiculation · 23/09/2018 12:57

I think that all you have to prove for a divorce based on adultery is that one spouse has committed adultery and the other cannot continue to live with them. A nonsense isn't it? Shula has made it obvious she'd be up for a bit of adultery if she got the chance, so it's hypocritical for her to either believe or to pretend that she cannot live with Alistair's adultery.

I'm totally against her having trashed the marriage out of the blue, without talking to Alistair, the more so because she claims to be a committed Christian and has taken Christian marriage vows (which do not read "...until one or other of us gets bored") but that doesn't stop me seeing the defects in the divorce process.

MereDintofPandiculation · 23/09/2018 12:59

Does anyone else here get the impression that Neil is out of his depth with the paperwork side of the pig unit? That's what happens when you appoint people on a whim, without having thought through the job role or the person specifications, or gone through a recruitment process designed to target competent candidates.

MereDintofPandiculation · 23/09/2018 13:01

Sorry about the grumbles. I'm not in a good mood today. One of my cats died last night, we've just broken the news to DC, and I'm calming myself before going to pick him up from the vets.

witchmountain · 23/09/2018 13:20

Oh that’s sad Flowers
