So it’s taken a sad, untimely death to bring me out of retirement. How I have missed you all Flowers

lillian that sounds blissful! I wish mine was still young enough to do that (she’s old enough to get excited and distracted by it now- a future Archers fan in the making, clearly!)

Just agree not to put spoilers in thread titles. It's not that difficult Or just remember not to look at the internet once the programme has been broadcast if you don’t want to know what happens.

CaraBosse1 · 24/02/2018 10:58

Dad3 - I already reported it. Too late for this thread but if MNHQ rule in favour then it might influence future thread starters (or "facilitators"Grin). People are just asking for a bit of consideration. Maybe that could be Nic's legacy ... so she didn't die in vain Smile

And I don't think people should be told to move the discussion on. Just skip the posts like I've done when there have been endless tedious discussions about posters' boarding schools and dinner jackets and so on.

plimsolls · 24/02/2018 10:59

Weirdly, I didn’t see anything on the LIsten Again feature... maybe it’s how my iPlayer app is configured. Just got the episode synopsis with “it’s a long night for the grundys” and the usual Archers branding.

Please can we move on from the discussion of the thread title?

Well, that request went well. Hmm

starsorwater · 24/02/2018 11:00

Hello, I am reeling and confused!

How could Nic have hit Matt? Was she out that night? I don't remember any reference to her at all.

Or is it that she knows it was Alice, and hasn't told?

What will happen to the children?

How in earth do you prevent sepsis? Cuts and grazes are so common. Is that really all it takes?

birdsdestiny · 24/02/2018 11:01

Fair point about Ruari , I had forgotten he exists Grin.

Perhaps posters who feel strongly should hide the Radio Addicts topic?

As a lurker and occasional poster I find these threads hugely entertaining.

It seems like poor etiquette to me, to complain about the established practice in a group you don't contribute to.

DadDadDad · 24/02/2018 11:02

And I don't think people should be told to move the discussion on.

I totally agree (just as people can't be told what thread titles to post within the rules set by MNHQ). I simply asked politely, I can't and won't tell people what to do on MN. I'd get eaten alive

Dad3 - at least no-one's called you the thread police!

oh come in. This is a forum for everyone, let's not start a MumsNet Archers Royalty clique.

LillianGish · 24/02/2018 11:11

Well, that request went well Grin I was thinking the same (though I have been as guilty as anyone of derailing the thread with a debate on thread title etiquette). Will your spreadsheet on posting spikes and frequency be able to take into account the fact that as much traffic was generated by spoiler complaints as by the death itself (though I’m still not entirely clear how something can be a spoiler if it appears after the programme has been broadcast).

Butteredparsn1ps · 24/02/2018 11:11

Yes, it's a forum to discuss the Archers. Not a forum to complain about discussing TA.

Stillnotready · 24/02/2018 11:13

For me it was bath Time! Children in the bath, me sat on the loo seat ( lid down obviously) and the radio on.
They all love-hate the Archers, and claim not to be interested but always ask for an update if I’m listening to Sunday catch up in the kitchen and they are around

Vango · 24/02/2018 11:14

How could Nic have hit Matt? Was she out that night? I don't remember any reference to her at all.

Nic was working in The Bull that night and (I think) asked Kenton is she could knock off early to pick up one of the kids?

reallybadidea · 24/02/2018 11:14

But I prefer to listen to the omnibus edition on a Sunday morning, as do lots of people. No need to go on iPlayer for that. It's pretty irritating to be told that its my own fault for not actively avoiding mumsnet given that I didn't even know I needed to avoid anything, having not listened since last week's omnibus.

Non-spoilery titles don't detract from the thread itself, but prevent spoiling storylines for those of us who like to listen to the omnibus/on catch-up. How is that difficult to understand?

Vango · 24/02/2018 11:15

Me too!! Exactly that. Half an ear on the radio.

R4 · 24/02/2018 11:15

I'm going to snitch on the lot of you to Alan. The St Stephens Building Fabric Fund won't know what to do with all the money.Grin

choccyp1g · 24/02/2018 11:16

Anyway, I just listened again to the bit where Nic was talking to Joe, and couldn't make out any words.
Can anyone with better hearing or imagination than me work out what she actually said?

Steamcloud · 24/02/2018 11:17

Butteredparsnips with respect, how do you know we don't contribute to the thread under different nns? And as has been said a hundred times, hiding the Radio Addicts thread wouldn't work, when the spoiler appears in 'Active'.

Anyway, anyway, I agree we should move on. This mild request about spoilers wasn't intended to be some huge complaint against the people who are kind enough to run this thread. All the defenders are making it so. We just asked for a little consideration over spoilers in thread titles; surely that is not worth all this point scoring and accusations of ungraciousness?

Finally, for the record, I hadn't in all honesty heard that Nic was dead. I was intending to listen on catch up as usual. And in the meantime I clicked on Mumsnet 'Active' threads where the spoiler popped up. It's hard to avoid something you don't know is about to happen!

Time to move on anyway I think ...
