So it’s taken a sad, untimely death to bring me out of retirement. How I have missed you all Flowers

Alan is making me well up now.

Somebody needs to take that axe away......and maybe his key for his gun cabinet

Keira was 2011, Poppy 2013. Will and Nic's wedding was New Year's Day 2012.

From memory, Keira's birth was the event which triggered Will to want a baby with Nic - Nic wasn't keen although she was happy about it later. At the time it felt a lot like Will wanted a baby just to keep up with Ed'n'Emmur and of course it kept Nic home just when she was starting to go out. He wasn't keen on that even back then.

Thank goodness for Eddie ,I'm beginning to feel a little in love .

So Jennifer is furious with Brine ,I wonder what he buried ??

C8H10N4O2 · 25/02/2018 19:13

I was listening irregularly in the Eighties, but I don't remember any mention of this happening

Me neither - Brian always was aggressive in squeezing out the profits and bonking any female who let him, but I don't remember him being so stupid or short of cash to allow random dumping of this type. Like you, I was a bit erratic then but it doesn't match my memory of his character

NorthernLurker · 25/02/2018 19:13

Oh bugger she's mentioned the affairs....

C8H10N4O2 · 25/02/2018 19:16

Nic's conduct did not justify a summary dismissal

She was a casual wasn't she, without very long tenure in the job? She had also had a previous warning and it was two offences which could each have got her the sack.

I remember seeing bar/waiting staff sacked for less in my bartending days, my kids who have done it more recently said much the same. Defrauding a customer (however well intentioned) and getting into fights with customers would result in no further shifts.

Jenijena · 25/02/2018 19:18

Just when you’re in search of a decent storyline, two come along at once and they try to crowbar them both in the same episode. Jenny has stuck with Brine through far worse though...

She was still an employee regardless of whether or not she was part time. I don't know how long she had been there. She needs 2 years to be protected from unfair dismissal.

OuaisMaisBon · 25/02/2018 19:22

Ah, it seems that it is my extremely irregular listening in the Seventies which is the reason for my inability to remember Brian's barrels (though I can remember Brian's bonking quite well).
Eddie is an absolute star. Jennifer actually finally showed character in relation to Brian's lies, but it's very late, now, really. I still have little sympathy for Willyum, even in his hour of need.

NorthernLurker · 25/02/2018 19:23

I don't think the combination of the two storylines was a good idea tbh.

Yes but she had no guaranteed shifts did she? It was all very ad hoc.

I cannot think of any pub I worked in which would have kept me on after cheating a paying customer and getting into a fight with another. And whilst with the first, the intent might have been good it would still have caused problems for the licensees if there had been a complaint.

In reality of course they had to sack her so that she would have time to get that scratch - it was all very over engineered. The argument with Emma didn't sound right from either of them considering both have gone out of their way to avoid falling out despite their awful husbands.

Vango · 25/02/2018 19:25

I thought he had acknowledged ages ago that he knew stuff had been dumped ?

He confessed quite early on to allowing some builders to dump rubble but seemed surprised that there was anything toxic there. He’s now admitted he was lying when he claimed to know nothing about the chemicals.

I’m sorry that tonight’s episode included so much of Brian’s storyline. I don’t know why Jenny’s so shocked either.

Yes me too. I can't decide whether that was the LSWs rewriting history or my age at the time :)

I know. Where is this story going?

C8H10N4O2 · 25/02/2018 19:29

Where is this story going?

My fear is some godawful SOC Archenders never ending family strife with vast amounts of whining Will, empty Ed and whoever they can drag into the middle.

I can't believe they are going to have a second gamekeeper suicide. I also can't see Will looking after Poppy on his own - Clarrieluv will end up doing that, presumably with help from Beverley.

Vango · 25/02/2018 19:32

Are Will and Kirsty good friends? Outdoorsy types, love Ambridge, both cruelly betrayed by their partners.....

Stickerrocks · 25/02/2018 19:33

I don't think Kirsty would touch Willyerm with a pointy stick.

Vango · 25/02/2018 19:36

I can’t see a huge difference between Will and Tom myself. And she went back to Tom on at least three occasions that I can think of!

His job is enabling people to kill living things for pleasure. I think there is little chance of a meeting of minds there.

Phil she can reconcile herself too as long as the hunting laws remain as they are.

Abra1de · 25/02/2018 19:43

Or a piece of infected crate.

Vango · 25/02/2018 19:44

Good point Lass. But I admit I was surprised that she wasn’t put off Philip in his hunting gear.
