So it’s taken a sad, untimely death to bring me out of retirement. How I have missed you all Flowers

The Radio Times calls it a mystery confession. There are no spoilers- they are discussing the same as us)

LassWiADelicateAir · 25/02/2018 17:09

Killing Nick must be a major plot device to move things on surely? It can't just be to make Joe ponder on mortality. She isn't a key character by a long way

I thought licking snowdrops was going to be Freddie Pargeter''s new money-making wheeze.

George Barford died peacefully but suddenly while he and Christine were waiting for the house to be rebuilt after it was torched.

Long time lurker .Not read whole thread but ,Nic's death aside -

what about Brian breaking down to Jennifer and revealing that he allowed something dreadful to be buried 40 years ago ???

Sorry if this has already been dealt with .

RockNRollNerd · 25/02/2018 17:49

I'm guessing we're about to enter the strange Ambridge timeslip phenomenon we had with custard-gate and the flood where we've already had Friday's episode essentially take place on Thursday night and tonight's may be a further real-time follow on. I can't remember how they caught up in the end in those situations, I think they basically just skipped a couple of days in the middle of the following week to bring us back to the days being in sync.

There are a lot of potential interesting strands for Nic's death to follow - do we need another DDD spreadshit? So far we've got:

  • recriminations against the hospital
  • Will's guilt over being out all day Thursday (and lashing out at Brian because he made him change his day off)
  • Will vs Ed and Emmur, and Emmur's guilt at falling out with Nic (also Jolene/Kenton guilt)
  • Will lashing out at Joe as it was his stuff that cut Nic
  • longer term residency issues over Jake/Mia (and possibly George as well if Will can't offer him a stable home in the short term)
  • the deathbed confession
  • any more....?

I seem to recall that there was a brief fraternal rapprochement when Ed turned to drugs (a very dramatic scene possibly somewhere in East Anglia when Will found Ed strung out on drugs somewhere?), wonder if there will ultimately be one of those over this as well?

MereDintofPandiculation · 25/02/2018 17:51

lamettarules No it's got completely lost. I asked a couple of dozen pages back why Brian was chasing around pubs trying to find a contractor from long ago, if he already knew all about the burial. I can only assume he was trying to make sure the guy was in no condition to speak. I also wondered wondered why Justin is so "concerned", and whether the contractor with unpleasant stuff to bury was in some way connected with one of Justin's earlier enterprises. But nobody was interested!

I am fearful over the number of bovidae Toby may have damaged if he didn't follow Eddies advice to wake Ruth and David. Or is he going to emerge a hero from the lambing shed?

I’ve skipped ahead and am already plotting the course of the rivalry between Will’s child with Emma and Will’s child with Nic. (Which is another good reason to dispense with Jake and Mia - as they’re really not in this game.)

But it seems to me the SWs are slipping up. They went to all the trouble of creating Phoebe and Noli - but their only on air meeting was a total damp squib - no rivalry at all. And Abbie is now too distant from Archerland to be of interest.

So perhaps George and Poppy will be the very best of sibling friends for ever. Boring though that will be.

Abra1de · 25/02/2018 18:03

What’s the age difference between Poppy and Kiera?

Eastpoint · 25/02/2018 18:07

Didn’t Brian have to take one of their cars into the garage a couple of days after the ball? I’m pretty sure there was but can’t be bothered to go back and listen (sorry folks). I am an irregular poster but would like to wave welcome back to Pseudo. Wish I had the nerve to pretend I’m the mother of D^3’s son’s friend Wink.

Buxbaum · 25/02/2018 18:09

Keira was 2011, Poppy 2013. Will and Nic's wedding was New Year's Day 2012.

Abra1de · 25/02/2018 18:09

Oh I see about two years between Poppy and Keira to answer own question.

Abra1de · 25/02/2018 18:10

But thanks, Buxbaum.

BeaLola · 25/02/2018 18:12

Just thinking about those that will feel guilty and ref Jolene - Idont think she would have fired Nic who was a grafter and popular and of celery disposition over one mistake - read her. The riot act, given her a warning but fired her - no.

BeaLola · 25/02/2018 18:13

Autocorrect ! Cheery disposition

OuaisMaisBon · 25/02/2018 18:29

Yes, I agree, that whole scene where Nic let rip and Jolene told her to leave was immensely OTT and completely out of character for Nic.
I'm puzzled by Brian's barrels, too. He actually knew there was toxic waste in them? I was listening irregularly in the Eighties, but I don't remember any mention of this happening. Oh, for the Continuity Rolodex to be reinstated in its full glory!

LassWiADelicateAir · 25/02/2018 18:30

As with most things legal the normal rules don't apply in Ambridge. Nic's conduct did justify a summary dismissal and even if it had they botched the procedure (had she been there for 2 years?)

lamettarules · 25/02/2018 18:36

Not ignoring Nic's death - I almost shed tears .Tears at Eddie being so great in the crisis . Cringed at the doctor though ,IMO seemed v unrealistic .

But back to Brian ( or BTB ) did he say barrels when confessing to Jennifer ?

LassWiADelicateAir · 25/02/2018 18:41

Nic's conduct did not justify a summary dismissal.

Yes Brine fessed up. (I thought he had acknowledged ages ago that he knew stuff had been dumped ?)

Fink · 25/02/2018 18:58

Never mind Poppy and George rivalry, Poppy is destined to be Henry Archer's teenage delinquent partner in crime. If Jake and Mia go to Andrew or another relative (e.g. Nic's mum), Poppy will be raised alone by Will Grundy. That's got to result in a child at least as messed up as the one whose cuddly toy was binned.

Tivvymum · 25/02/2018 19:04

Sorry - forgot Matt Crawford survived and sailed off to live another day.

NorthernLurker · 25/02/2018 19:05

I think that's the last we will hear of Jake and Mia.
