So it’s taken a sad, untimely death to bring me out of retirement. How I have missed you all Flowers

Hello RivkaMumsnet! Nice to 'meet' you

Bakedappleflavour · 25/02/2018 12:29

I’ve had sepsis twice from infected eczema.

That scares the LIFE out of me as my two year old has bad eczema. I don't bathe him every day as it makes it worse but should I be doing it to keep it clean? Sorry for derail.

OuaisMaisBon · 25/02/2018 12:32

I've just listened to/read Nic's dying words, here and have come to the conclusion that she had time enough to say: " I - killed -- Cock - Robin."
There you go!

BakedApple - what have your doctors advised? Does it get infected often?

glowfrog · 25/02/2018 12:37

Matt is dead?!

Bakedappleflavour · 25/02/2018 12:37

They tell me to do whatever seems to irritate it less. It's never been infected to my knowledge but honestly I'm not sure how I'd tell.

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/02/2018 12:37

Not if bathing makes the eczema worse, Bakedapple. Just continue to manage in the way that works best and according to whatever is advised by HCPs but be aware of signs that mean you need to seek help quickly.

Agan, sepsis is rare. Most infections do not lead to sepsis. Sepsis can be successfully treated if caught early, so it's important to know what to look out for.

Actually, I think I'll post in Site Stuff asking if MNHQ can set up an webchat with someone (eg Sepsis Trust) on this, as it seems a lot of people have questions about it

C8H10N4O2 · 25/02/2018 12:39

David was cutting down a tree branch, and it fell on Jethro

David misjudged the size/fall or wasn't using the right equipment (one of those, can't recall the specifics but he made an error which resulted in the accident).

He got off very lightly - just as he did with the badger. People made light of it but he wasn't following standard safety for tree work, however Clarrieluv and her sister were not inclined to pursue it. Lucky old David.

starsorwater · 25/02/2018 12:42

i know I'm being thick, but Matt isn't dead, is he? And surely Nic would have known that.

LassWiADelicateAir · 25/02/2018 12:44

Matt is dead?!

No. Well we haven't heard from him for a while but if he had been bumped off it had nothing to do with Nic.

There was one recently.

StarsBrokenAgain · 25/02/2018 12:53

Thanks Northern for summary of other character deaths.

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/02/2018 12:53

Oops, well I've just asked for another one! Grin

StarsBrokenAgain · 25/02/2018 12:56

Sorry posted too soon! There was one recently as part of awareness week I think.

Probably never too many Bore!

NorthernLurker · 25/02/2018 13:08

I would have preferred it to be sepsis following something like a chest infection tbh. That's as much an issue as cuts etc. Probably not as dramatic though.

BoreOfWhabylon · 25/02/2018 13:12

Indeed Northern

Anyway, JenMumsnet is on the case, having listened to Nic's demise, due to thread title kerfuffle. So some good has come from it all!

The first person to be given penicillin was suffering from sepsis, from a bacterial infection picked up from a scratch from a rose thorn.

RubyLennoxExists · 25/02/2018 13:51

Do we think that Will will sue someone?
I did wonder if the hospital, having diagnosed sepsis very quickly and said they had to get her into ICU were a bit tardy in actually doing so. I'm guessing a good hour if not more would have gone by by the time they'd got the kids up, into the hospital and said their goodbyes. I know they wanted to put her into a coma (I think); would they (the medics) have hung about for the kids if it was a life or death situation?

MereDintofPandiculation · 25/02/2018 13:57

All I could make out was something like "soon" ... [hopefully] "soon" in a weak voice sounds a bit like "shula"... "Shula hit matt?"

Was Laura Archer a heart attack? I have a strong memory of her being found in a ditch - I assumed hypothermia. Is it my memory playing tricks?

I think joe was horrified to think that nick thought she was a bad person. He wasn't horrified by what she said, he was horrified by her feeling she was a bad person

Abra1de · 25/02/2018 14:36

Oh I don’t wasn’t being serious about Will suing. Though you can never be entirely sure with him...

PicklingGherkins · 25/02/2018 14:37

I listened and thanks to the original thread title I was able to do so at home where my tears wouldn't be seen. I'll never forget hearing Helen stab Rob whilst on the tram to work. I was shocked beyond belief and conscious afterwards that I had actually talked out loud.
