So it’s taken a sad, untimely death to bring me out of retirement. How I have missed you all Flowers

You are absolutely right imposter As a huge Archers fan I would hate to spoil it for someone else.

Steamcloud · 25/02/2018 09:25

Agree with Fiveshelties and ImposterSyndrome

Why a polite request has caused such umbrage (particularly from one or two long standing posters) I cannot fathom. Shame really.

Yes, enjoy your thread everyone.

LillianGish · 25/02/2018 09:25

The thread has been derailed by posters complaining about the thread and they are now complaining it has been derailed Confused

BitOutOfPractice · 25/02/2018 09:27

I wanted to listen again to see if I could make out Nick's words a bit clearer. But I'm in forrinland and the iPlayer won't work dammit.

I was thinking about Jamie a week or so ago. Wasn't he training fo be a tree surgeon? Lots of potential for death and destruction with a chain saw if the new editor wanted a really spectacular storyline. I guess he's missing because Kathy is missing but wasn't he friends with josh at one point.

MiddleClassProblem · 25/02/2018 09:28

BOOP it sounds like you need to download Tunnel Bear app

FiveShelties · 25/02/2018 09:29

DadDadDad, honestly this does not seem like fun at all. Just seems a very good way of making sure the thread is kept for regular posters.

BitOutOfPractice · 25/02/2018 09:29

And I'm sad to see that I'm not the only one who finds these threads very hard to join in with somehow.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 25/02/2018 09:29

Kathy was permanently at bridge farm during her troubles but disappeared when pat was going through the stuff with Helen. I think Kathy and Jamie are victims of the sinkhole.

Vango · 25/02/2018 09:30

Imposters FiveShelties Whaaaat?

Don’t go away! I think the point about spoilery titles was made, and taken, pages ago. An unfortunate timing coincidence is all it was and I’m sure whoever starts a new thread will absolutely bear it in mind!

It’s hard to be on here sometimes but the overall benefit and entertainment makes it a bit of an addiction for me. Even when I feel I just can’t contribute, I’m still reading away in the background. I’d be mortified if you felt any of my posts were mean or petty. I only meant to steer people off in a humorous direction to distract from the ill-feeling that was brewing.

Steamcloud · 25/02/2018 09:31

Who derailed the thread though? One or two posters made a polite request that spoilers don't appear in active titles. Pseudo herself graciously acknowledged that the timing was a wee bit unfortunate. It could have been left there. I respectfully suggest that it was was one or two other posters banging on and on after that, that derailed the thread.

I have enjoyed the humorous thread titles though especially the one about Joe and decimalisation.

LillianGish · 25/02/2018 09:32

There’s a twitter link earlier in this thread to that bit of script Boop. Along the lines of “I’m not going to a better place I’ve been bad” but nothing to indicate what that might mean - everything else deliberately inaudible. Jamie did become a tree surgeon - taking up where Mike had left off after he was banished to Birmingham. Clearly no one has required any branches lopped since then ...

C8H10N4O2 · 25/02/2018 09:37

Yes. And never a mention of homework, or parents evenings or anything

Mia and Jake are sharing the cereal cupboard with Ben. This may have a direct connection to the sinkhole where they will meet Kathy, Jamie and all the other discards.

If only the discards were the dreadful actors.

StarsBrokenAgain · 25/02/2018 09:40

Marjorie Antrobus! That had just sparked some weird, deep, childhood memories...

For the newer/more forgetful of us, if it's not too annoying, could we have a run down of key people who've died, and how?

Eg I remember John and the tractor squashing, but have no clue what happened to Jack Archer.

Sorry for spoilers... Smile

Vango · 25/02/2018 09:41

If I’m honest, I really don’t miss Kathy at all. And the amount of time she spent in Pat’s kitchen was absolutely ridiculous. But it’s an absolute shame that SoC didn’t include her voice in at least one episode during the stabbing/trial months.

LillianGish · 25/02/2018 09:42

Jake and Mia were regularly name dropped - in fact I could have immediately named them, but hesitated over Poppy - I never imagined them as teenagers. I’m sure they’ll go and quietly live with their dad and never be heard of again - it will probably be a relief to the SWs (three for the price of one). I think the SWs will be focussing on Will’s grief and it’s ramifications.

Steamcloud · 25/02/2018 09:42

I was just going to most the very same thing Vango!

C8H10N4O2 · 25/02/2018 09:44

But it’s an absolute shame that SoC didn’t include her voice in at least one episode during the stabbing/trial months

Oh I assumed that was lack of interest in back story.

LillianGish · 25/02/2018 09:44

Kathy’s disappearance is strange because she is in the village managing GG. Why didn’t they move her somewhere more distant if they wanted to silence her completely?

TeenTimesTwo · 25/02/2018 09:45

So I've gone away for 300 posts.

Have I missed speculation on what Joe will do next?

If it is Alice that Nic has pointed the finger at I think he will do something like this:

'Now then young Alice Carter. Our lovely Nic told me something before she passed away. And it's really been troubling me. She told me she saw what happened on the night Matt Crawford had his accident. I thought she was confused but the more I think about it the more I realise she was maybe right. I've also seen you drinking far too much at The Bull of an evening. Now, don't look so worried young Alice, I'm not going to tell the police at the moment. You are our Emma's sister in law. But, you have to get help and stop drinking, we can't have kiddies in the village being put at risk. I'll tell our Emma's Chris if I have to. Now what do you say?'

C8H10N4O2 · 25/02/2018 09:47

I think the SWs will be focussing on Will’s grief and it’s ramifications

I'm sure you are right.
I'm wincing at the thought of the endless whining Will blaming everyone (but mostly Emmur'n'Ed). The cludgy handed way this death was signposted with the maximum falling out and drahma suggests to me that its going to be nauseating.

Pity the sepsis didn't take Will'n'Ed together leaving the women in their lives to a normal relationship and successful future.

FiveShelties · 25/02/2018 09:50

Vango thank you. I always read the thread after I have listened, but because I am in NZ and there is a 13 hr time difference things that I would post have usually been said. I really enjoy the thread and honestly had no idea that it would cause such a reaction.

Vango · 25/02/2018 09:50

Very good. There was a whole thread like that once!

Perhaps it will be a running theme - Joe will take the secret to his deathbed and then mutter something in his dying breath to Bert Fry which will be passed on Chinese Whispers style until eventually (40 years hence like Brian’s barrels) the culprit will be revealed.
