So it’s taken a sad, untimely death to bring me out of retirement. How I have missed you all Flowers

“ Pip is DEAD!”

...would surely be the fastest filling thread of all time?!

cheminotte · 24/02/2018 19:06

No problem Pseudo - unfortunately YouTube won't let me watch it in restricted mode!

Poor old MNHQ have tried hard to put things right, I think. I also complained that the new title still revealed that someone was dead and that it was pretty obvious who that would be from what had gone before.

Apparently no one on duty at MNHQ today knew much about TA, which I found shocking, so they used a title that was suggested to them (don't know who by).

JenMumsnet says she listened to the episode, which I think shows real commitment, and liked it! Think we have a convert. I have invited her to join the threads to DTA in future.

So, new improved title will be reinstated after the Omnibus and Nic will always be remembered for the Great Thread Title Changing of 2018.

I'm sure it's what she would have wanted.

Convinced for a little while that Alice was the driver, but as someone who doesn’t always give the Archers 100% of my listening ear when it’s on was wondering if I’d missed a reason that it couldn’t be as it seems too obvious.

My poor boyfriend, dragged into TA by my habits (and who has done admirably in learning who’s who) was rather harrowed by Nic‘s demise. Her and Joe and all that.

If it was Alice, together with the great fish poisoning, bit of an Alridge-ageddon really isn’t it. Not that I care for them that much.

BitOutOfPractice · 24/02/2018 19:44

BOOP I did wonder why you'd stopped posting I try to keep positive and I feel the same sometimes!

There were two reasons tbh ppeat. First was the constant feeling that one or two posters considered themselves to be Archers experts and thread royalty who were keen to put everyone else with different opinions in their place. And the final straw was a couple of regulars who blamed Helen for what had happened to her and were making some very unpleasant comments about her deserving the abuse and saying women who couldn't leave abusive partners deserved what they got. I found it repulsive.

Now, every time I come and have a look I find the thread to be full of people moaning how awful it is and how much they loathe certain characters and I just wonder why they bother to a. Listen and b. Post.

So there you go.

I'm no Pollyanna but these threads have got so repetitive they don't enhance my listening enjoyment any more.

I came in last night after what I thought was a great episode and it was all "I hated Nick anyway, that was shit" - same old same old.

Vango · 24/02/2018 19:47

You know you’ve got us all wondering now BOOP!

It was a great episode BOOP. Especially Nic and Joe. I sobbed.

I always liked Nic.

My earliest memory of listening to The Archers was the announcement of Will’s birth. He was named after Prince William who is of a similar age.
