So it’s taken a sad, untimely death to bring me out of retirement. How I have missed you all Flowers

Hi All,

Thanks for all your reports.

We can see there is no resolution here that will keep everyone happy.
We did have a look at the bbc iplayer page and there isn't an obvious spoiler on it. So given the reports, we had received it appeared reasonable to change the title.

We are happy to reconsider this choice of title if you can think of something that will not bother those posters concerned about spoilers but still embrace the original titles intention.

Would a tetanus jab prevent sepsis?

no, it would prevent a specific infection, i.e. tetanus.
current thinking is that if you have received all childhood vaccines you are fine for the rest of your life.

Vango · 24/02/2018 15:02

I like Francis’s suggestions.

I lurk a lot without posting. Francis the iplayer apps on phones or tablets are different from the iplayer homepage on a computer or laptop. No spoilers on them.

Sepsis is such a evil thing, if an infection can be evil. It's the leaving of the children that gets me.

JigglyTuff · 24/02/2018 15:11

I beg to differ Jen - this is immediately under the link to yesterday's episode

I think Pseudo, as the original threadstarter should be the one to decide which title option to go with.

Thanks, JenMumsnet for agreeing to change again.

JenMumsnet · 24/02/2018 15:15

One idea that has been suggested is that we leave it as is until the omnibus has aired and then we change it back again.

jiggly and others- the app where a lot (most?) people listen to the Archers doesn’t have plot giveaways on. The Archers website does.

It’s the same as visiting the Masterchef main website after the final vs watching it via iPlayer. One is updated in real time (main site) and you’d expect to see a pic of the winner, and one is static (iPlayer). Therefore people who don’t want to know storylines ahead of actually listening or watching use the iPlayer app and wouldn’t browse the main site.

im genuinely sorry that asking not to include big giveaways in thread titles has caused such upset to francis and others. I had no idea it was going to be controversial. As I’ve posted before, all that was needed was not to mention “death”, no major insult or change to the work of the thread title creator.

BitOutOfPractice · 24/02/2018 15:18

Really? We are repainting nick as a homophonic narrow minded bigot now?

I really don't get this thread sometimes. I really don't. Now I remember why I stoped posting.

It’s still a spoiler! But does anyone even care anymore? Grin

No spoiler here.
And I think the “changed in the Nic of time” is genius- or indeed reverting to the original title after Sunday to give people a reasonable chance to catch up.

And again point out that no one has any issue with the storyline being discussed within the threads just not in the main title that would be on the active page.

I agree with this. And have come close to giving up myself at times.

@PseudoBadger

I'd go with something as close to the original as possible, e.g.

'Alas, poor [SPOILER ALERT], I knew him/her...etc'

crumpet · 24/02/2018 15:28

Gosh a thread title cock up after eleventy billion un-cocked up thread titles is not the end of the world is it? It’s been noted and unlikely to happen again.

To be honest i’ve appreciated Pseudo’s and DDD’s(and others) good intentions and efforts in keeping the threads running. Thank you allSmile

wtffgs · 24/02/2018 15:29

I was spoilered via Twitter but have only just listened to the ep (and the 3 preceding it)

If you don't want spoilers, don't follow/read threads, accounts etc!

I enjoy these threads a lot and am grateful to those who create and maintain them. I had to stop listening mid-Rob, just couldn't face it.

I've always loathed Will. He's vile. I liked Nic though. It's a shame she was expendable. Dreading the Appalling Alice would have been much better!! Grin Still, Alice banged up for attempted whatever in Matt Crawford has its appeal Wink

FlaviaAlbia · 24/02/2018 15:29

Francis Oh yes, I saw that, I was just pointing out that if you use the apps on phones ect then the spoilers aren't there and it's not an issue if the BBC post stuff on the website, it won't necessarily have spoilt it for omnibus listeners.

I'm not actually sure of the last time I used a laptop or computer and 7pm is bedtime for lots of people with DC, or it is here anyway, so I never get to listen live.

ppeatfruit · 24/02/2018 15:30

BOOP I did wonder why you'd stopped posting Grin I try to keep positive and I feel the same sometimes!
