So it’s taken a sad, untimely death to bring me out of retirement. How I have missed you all Flowers

I don't think that Joe would have been so shocked if Nic had told him that Alice was the one who hit Matt. He doesn't care particularly for Alice or Matt and under the circumstances I think he would have been more inclined to say to Nic not to worry about that now, then think about it again to himself later.
In terms of Nic as a person, I think she was quite a typical wife of the Will sort of man, where he airs his prejudices quite freely but she's a lot nicer and kinder on the surface. However scratch a little deeper and you find she shares quite a few of the prejudices - I remember she was quite mean to Vicky when Bethany was born because she wasn't a "normal" baby. The unpleasant things she said to Emma once she got going and her refusal to make up also showed she basically agreed with Will on Emma and Ed. In line with that I would imagine that she wouldn't approve of Adam and Ian having a baby and I don't remember her ever being friendly with them at all.

@PseudoBadger - do I take it MNHQ didn't give you any notice that they were changing the title? They need an appeal system.

Or maybe they should go back and change titles like this, written a day after Helen stabbed Rob: Hmm

I don't think that Joe would have been so shocked if Nic had told him that Alice was the one who hit Matt.

To my ear, Joe shock a reaction to Nic saying she was ‘bad’ and that she wasn’t going to ‘the better place’.

PseudoBadger · 24/02/2018 14:34

No notice, I have reported myself and complained. Ah the good old Rob days!

Well I was going to stay out of the nonsense about Psued's brilliant ORIGINAL title.

BUT MNHQ what were you thinking? This thread is not and never was a spoiler thread we have one of those on the Radio Addicts site.

Gruach · 24/02/2018 14:37

I have reported - to the appropriate authority (MNHQ) - the inappropriate editing of the thread title by erm ... MNHQ.

I suggest anyone else who objects does the same ...

Family law thoughts:

If Nic and her ex had a Court Order, that names Nic as the Resident Parent, she would have been able to name Will as a Guardian in her will or letter of wishes. This would give Will "testament" Parental Responsibility upon her death. It wouldn't have necessarily given him residency of the children, but it would have given him PR (alongside their bio dad).

However, even though Nic is Jake and Mia's Resident Parent (ie the parent they reside with most of the time, go to school near, etc), it depends if there is a Court Order saying this.

Also, Will and Nic may well not have made wills, etc. I don't think it would necessarily have occurred to either of them that this was needed yet.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 24/02/2018 14:38

Wildcard prediction: Nic's life is insured to the eyeballs and Will gets another humungous and unlikely windfall.

TravellingFleet · 24/02/2018 14:39

I think Will will have made a will because of the George situation - not sure about Nik.

plimsolls · 24/02/2018 14:40

I can’t decide whether to laugh or cry at the fact the thread title has been changed but is still a giveaway.

I’d have left it as Alas, Poor Nic but just removed the reference to death in Ambridge... or gone for a play on words around Sepsis, septic waste and sceptism about the storylines or something.

I would have offered some alternative title suggestions in response to a Pp (francis maybe?) asking but I thought it was mostly a rhetorical question and I didn’t want to keep going on about the title thing as I figured by this point everyone had essentially made their perspectives clear.... plus the whole thing. Was taking up far too much space in my head when really I should having been grieving Poor Nic!!

I listen on iPlayer and have just checked and there's no mention of Nic's death when I access it.

MNHQ are merely upholding the protocol that you don't post spoilers in thread titles. Good on them.

Hmm-untimely death. Now, I wonder who that might be-the person who was being taken to intensive care on Thursday night or.....oh, I don't know-someone else? Well unspoilered!

PseudoBadger · 24/02/2018 14:51

MNHQ have offered to edit the title to one of our choice. How about “Alas poor [blank]. I knew him/her”?

Would a tetanus jab prevent sepsis? I thought they lasted 10 years so if you'd had the jab, say 5 years ago, would it help?

Vango · 24/02/2018 14:55

MNHQ have offered to edit the title to one of our choice. How about “Alas poor [blank]. I knew him/her”?

Or “Well we weren’t expecting that!”
