Enjoy!

OP posts:

so yesterday pip is offered a room back home and, despite wanting to ditch him, still makes a feeble attempt to get him in as well? What was that about? Why was she making the point to Ruth that she and Toby still want to live together?

And Tor - short for Victoria or a hulking Scandinavian?

TheAntiBoop · 09/05/2017 19:38

Is it going to end up like murder on the orient express?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/05/2017 20:48

RIP Bill. Sad

Re Ben and Josh not objecting to sharing a room - obviously real teenagers of that age would be fuming. But these are the boys who were delighted at the idea of leaving Ambridge and all their friends to move to Prudhoe to be near their ailing grandmother. In Josh's case it would have been halfway through his A levels. So just sharing a room is quite tame!

IAmNot Dave was saying he was partly to blame because of x, y and z; and Ruth said "well I should have done a, b and c"

Yes although I thought she was simply trying to make him feel better - i've noticed she has claimed blame for mistakes made by David and Pip before, usually in a scenario of smoothing things over or ego boosting David.

Pip could aways bunk down with the cows to make them feel better thus solving all bedroom problems and emphasising 'traditional farming' :)

I'm assuming these new hens will be pitched as 'big' versus plucky little Brookfield again in retread of the factory cow unit.

I was at school with a Tor, so assumed it was Victoria.

Ceto · 10/05/2017 00:38

I wonder if the reality is that Ruth and David just block out what Ben and Josh say? So when Josh and Ben say "Leave my friends and move to a new college in the middle of A Levels? Are you mad?", or "Share a room with my brother to give my dickhead sister a rent free room because of the financial crisis her stupidity has caused? Hahahahahahahahahaha", Ruth hears "Yes, of course, mother dear, whatever you and Saint Pip want".

EBearhug · 10/05/2017 01:25

Josh probably just said, "Look, I haven't got time for this! Just sort it out. No, Mr Smith, I didn't mean you, we are very interested in the trailer..."

Imbroglio · 10/05/2017 07:47

Well at least Pip didn't end up being offered free lodgings at Lower Loxley. And Jill kept her room.

choccyp1g · 10/05/2017 08:14

Ruth hadn't even asked the boys when she first suggested Pip.

choccyp1g · 10/05/2017 08:14

Suggested Pip moving back in to Brookfield.

Imbroglio · 10/05/2017 08:22

I'm hoping Josh is the one who gives up his room and moves out altogether....

I hope Brian does fess up after all that sanctimonious crowing about about Brookfield.

I wish Tom had been the one to kill Bill and been forced to apologise.

DairyingLass · 10/05/2017 08:58

Delurking briefly - thanks Pseudo for the new thread.

My dad (farmer) has pointed out a major flaw in this IBR storyline. He says it is obligitary for farms to have public liability insurance to cover you against claims from members of the public or other third parties. He says whether it was your own fuck up or not doesn't matter - you would still be covered in this situation.

So ... to answer the question in the thread title ... maybe Pip or the Ambridge fairy won't save the day because the NFU or whoever they're insured with will! At the 11th hour of course just when it seems bankrupcy is looming ....

TheAntiBoop · 10/05/2017 08:58

he admitted it straight away and was willing to make amends - xref pip

I don't think you can compare accidentally running over a cat to compromising the bio security of two other farms

TheAntiBoop · 10/05/2017 08:59

If the insurance company can prove negligence though would they expect the money back from Brookfield though?

Ime of insurers they do whatever they can to get a 'guilty' party to cover their costs!!

Ceto · 10/05/2017 09:00

Boop for Brian for being so quick to own up to Jenny and Peggy.

DairyingLass · 10/05/2017 09:08

The antiboop- they would recover it slightly in the form of increased premiums but they would pay out. I imagine they're with the NFU and their tagline is 'we don't quibble' !

HomityBabbityPie · 10/05/2017 09:11

Why couldn't Pip have got run over instead of Bill Angry

TheAntiBoop · 10/05/2017 09:27

I find that odd! Does anyone in the archers have insurance though?!? They seem to pick and choose the parts of real life they stick to I suppose

Anyway, the insurer certainly wouldn't have been as generous in the settlement as David and Ruth are being

HomityBabbityPie · 10/05/2017 09:32

Funny how the SW see one daughter of Brookfield as an annoyance and another as practically perfect.

Who's the other one?

LillianGish · 10/05/2017 09:32

Is Bill being run over by Brian a Red herring precursor to someone else being run over by a real speeding motorist? I seem to remember a while ago several plots which were foreshadowed by minor plots leaving us all to heave a sigh of relief only for the real plot to hit a few weeks later (I can't actually remember any specifics at the moment - I'm waiting for one of the thread sages with their encaeclopoedic recall to come on and furnish details - otherwise just ignore me).

CraicMammy · 10/05/2017 09:34

The insurer would have a serious issue with the fact that the Dopeys have already admitted liability, and might use that to deny cover.

EBearhug · 10/05/2017 10:11

Chris and Phil were Dan & Doris's children. So the comparison is Chris and Pip.

(Shula & Elizabeth are also daughters of Brookfield.)
