Doctor 2 Blimey some sense talked about Grin. Prohibition of alcohol didn't work in the States. The illegality of them here just makes them more attractive for some people [esp. the young] it also makes a mockery of the need for useful drugs.

That might happen of course seisigfach but Lizzie will probably ground Freddie for ever, making him absent himself without leave .

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 11/06/2017 21:24

How about they just have a storyline where two teenagers go to a festival, experiment with drugs and casual sex, wake up feeling rough and say well that was fun but reckon we'll stick to the beer in future - no harm done, nobody dies, nobody gets beaten up by a dealer.bjust like what happens to the vast majority of teens who dabble with the odd E.

The continuity announcer said the prodigal son returns so I assume that's what happened!

ppeatfruit · 12/06/2017 10:19

I know I sound my age but I never understood the need to get "off your face" Even when I was a yoof myself Grin

I like dancing and can do it without getting 'oiled' at parties or wherever.

TheAntiBoop · 12/06/2017 15:34

Pip managing to get in bitchy digs again I hear. She really is insufferable

Dumdedumdedum · 12/06/2017 16:59

Wish I had half her confidence of the effect of Brexit on the farming community.

Gruach · 12/06/2017 19:10

Oh wow! TA has made me laugh! That never happens.

Freddie and Johnny are damn good value. Hope they'll be friends for ever!

Gruach · 12/06/2017 19:15

Triple BOOP for Elizabeth's fantastic anger!Star

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 12/06/2017 19:18

Echoed! Biggest laugh came from Neil Nunes, the Continuity Announcer, though.

E: What am I going to do with him?

Dum de dum etc etc

NN: You can send him to ME...

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/06/2017 19:20

Loved Neil Nunes!

MikeUniformMike · 12/06/2017 19:28

has Fred had a tattoo?

BoreOfWhabylon · 12/06/2017 19:30

Eyebrow piercing. Jonneh said it looked as if it had gone septic Grin

Dumdedumdedum · 12/06/2017 19:36

Neil Nunes was great!

MikeUniformMike · 12/06/2017 19:46

I like Jonneh. Thanks.

AuntyElle · 12/06/2017 20:04

I found that episode so weird. All the excessive deference to Justin, and 'Yikes, he might take his money elsewhere if we don't rush this major decision'. Plus 'yes, the naughty girl in question is with me now' crap with Susan. Archaic dynamics. All a bit Downton.
Then Lily doing her old before her time bit, telling Elizabeth how to parent.
Confused
Very odd tone, not convincing.
Or am I just in a foul mood? (I am Wink)

BertrandRussell · 12/06/2017 20:33

Actually, I think it's about time somebody did call Susan out on her gossip.

And Justin did have the right to expect that business transactions would be kept confidential.

Imbroglio · 12/06/2017 20:45

Susan's responses were shocking - discussing her employer's private business - especially information gleaned through eavesdropping - is NOT acceptable.

ppeatfruit · 12/06/2017 21:04

BOOP for Freddie's description of Anthea (who has obviously started work as the receptionist\PA in Justin's office) That "dementor." He's going to have a sceptic eyebrow!!!

Good for Lily, someone has to keep the most ridiculous parent of the year in check, or she'll have a heart attack. Freddie's 17 not effing 13!!!!

MikeUniformMike · 12/06/2017 21:30

Hope Lizzie has plenty of anti-sceptic in her first aid box

AuldHeathen · 13/06/2017 01:05

I thought it was a good episode, we got a few laughs. And maybe there'll be some consequences for Susan. IRL there would be.

Dumdedumdedum · 13/06/2017 04:44

Didn't Susan used to be called "Radio" (because she broadcasts everything to everyone, I guess) on another Archers forum? I only understood why quite recently, I think she was very indiscreet about Helen and Rob, wasn't she? It could have been something else, I don't keep up well at the back. I was horrified by her attitude in last night's episode, she was defiantly (and definitely, in case of doubt Grin) certain she was within her rights and had no comprehension of how badly she had behaved. For a start, by eavesdropping - she should have walked into the kitchen straight away, rather than standing outside listening as she obviously did.

R4 · 13/06/2017 08:30

In Susan's defence, I am sure that in her mind she was being some sort of "investigative reporter" who was finding out facts that would affect the well-being of the village. Why should she care about Bridge Farm's confidentiality; whistle-blowing is more important.
She was a twit not to do it anonymously, though - she must realise that she could put her job at risk.

The Freddie thing was quite fun but they did over-egg the pudding a bit: drink, drugs, popping his cherry, piercing and spending all his money. Was there talk of a tattoo, too?
I think that Freddie is going to wangle some money out of the Trust Fund and go travelling.

ThatsNotMyToddler · 13/06/2017 08:51

Well I thought Susan was obnoxious but I also thought Pat handled it badly. She was far too subtle. That bit about "was it when you were using the washing machine?" (I.e. When we were doing you a favour). I thought she should have just spelled it out: "You work for us Susan so you may hear things that are not in the public domain. We do not expect to hear that you have been spreading things around or we may have to reconsider your position. There is a public process for planning permission etc so people will hear about I due course and can make their minds up - it's not like houses are just going to appear overnight - and so you should keep your mouth shut in future please".

Also thought Elizabeth was a bit inappropriate talking to Lily about how she could punish Freddie? I only have toddlers but don't think when they're older I would discuss them in this way with each other.

KingscoteStaff · 13/06/2017 09:06

Elementary rule of parenting, never criticise one child to another.

ThatsNotMyToddler · 13/06/2017 10:52

That was my feeling Kingscote. But then I disagree with Elizabeth on a lot of things...

ppeatfruit · 13/06/2017 11:17

I'm trying to be fair to Lizzie here, having no husband she obviously feels that she needs to lay down the law big time with Freddie (what would Nigel have said I wonder?) . I think he's being reasonable at the moment. But it'll back fire If Freddie wants to eff up his exams it's his life. He can take them later if he wants to.
