I don't mind anisha - yes she's annoying (and the thing with lily was weird) but the acting is decent and she has some balance

DoctorTwo · 06/06/2017 09:11

I loved the way Anisha 'outdrank' Jazzer, i found it hilarious. I think he and rex could make a great couple but Rex needs to calm down and be less judgemental.

ppeatfruit · 06/06/2017 09:35

I LOVED the way Anisha 'outdrank' Jazzer! Not sure that Rex and Jazzer would make such a good couple Grin Doctor Grin

Gruach · 06/06/2017 09:48

I'm not sure I believe in Anisha. She sounds like a middle-aged male construction of a 'strong woman'. So relentless! Who'd want to be friends with her?

C8H10N4O2 · 06/06/2017 10:06

Oh yeah, didn't he smash the quad bike into it or something?

This was bugging me so much I actually went back and relistened to the episode Blush

Josh caught a fence post with the tractor/trailer combo from the sound of it and loosened it rather than breaking it outright. He was in a hurry and offered to do one of her early morning milking shifts if she could secure the fencepost. Pip didn't fix it, and now expects Josh to cover all her shifts so that she can swan off and be GoldenPips doing relief milking.

EBearhug · 06/06/2017 10:10

That's more dedication than I was up for, but thank you.

C8H10N4O2 · 06/06/2017 10:10

I suspect we wouldn't notice if she was a competitive driven man rather than a woman. Lily is also competitive, and in her own way so was Tracey.

I quite like her although I do hope they don't turn her into one point of a love triangle.

TheAntiBoop · 06/06/2017 10:11

Given how long it takes to train to be a vet and her experience- how old must anisha be?

ppeatfruit · 06/06/2017 10:20

Come on Gruach* If she was bit girly like Alice the SWs would get stick for it.

I know , have known, many RL women who are like Anisha, they ain't great friends but they certainly exist.

mummytime · 06/06/2017 10:57

I like Anisha, yes she'd be hard to live with at present, but we never hear her in relaxed mode. She's new to the village and doesn't have any friends yet. Her and Rex are an interesting couple, from very different backgrounds and maybe in a larger town would never get to know each other. They were both trying so hard to be cool about meeting for a drink yesterday.
I really hope they make it work at least for a while. And I hope Pip doesn't get in the way.

I really liked Freddy too. I have no idea why he is doing French rather than BTecs or something useful. An apprenticeship with a large estate or something?

R4 · 06/06/2017 11:20

I like Anisha, yes she'd be hard to live with at present, but we never hear her in relaxed mode.
For most people a drink in the pub or a game of cricket is relaxed fun. She is the one stirring up competition against co-villagers or team-mates. Note how she picks easy targets - cheated against Jazzer, picks on a schoolgirl, competes against an injured sportsman.
Has she actually brought in much new work yet?

She's new to the village and doesn't have any friends yet.
I wonder why.

I think that the Rex & Pip will they/won't they SL is going to be years of tedious ping pong in that when one of them is single, the other will be in a relationship.

mummytime · 06/06/2017 11:33

Umm Anisha is Asian, has worked extremely hard throughout life, and has grown up in quite a tough/blunt speaking culture in Glasgow. She sticks out like a sore thumb in Ambridge - where as we are always moaning most people are born and barely leave. She can't relax with these people as she doesn't know them and they don't know her.
I think she is pretty friendly with Lily - some people just have that kind of competitive friendship, but there is a 10 year + age gap.
She doesn't have the greatest social skills
She sees Rex both as a bit of a posh rich boy, and at the same time working in jobs which are socially beneath her.

Both Anisha and Rex are a bit wary of being hurt (again). So don't speak honestly to each other, especially after Toby implied Rex would be straight after Pip now she'd dumped Toby.

Linda Snell was extremely irritating when she first moved to Ambridge but is now one of the more interesting characters.

R4 · 06/06/2017 11:37

Toby implied Rex would be straight after Pip now she'd dumped Toby.

That's probably the only reason Anisha is after Rex - it's another competition for her to win.

Did they have to make Freddy sound like he was 13? Aren't 17 year old boys a bit cooler than that these days? At one point he went into full on Kevin the Teenager mode, proclaiming "It's not fair!" Why would he claim he'd have to learn an entire language by Thursday when he's presumably been learning French for years? I thought he was going to bring in his friend Perry at any moment.

mummytime · 06/06/2017 13:51

From my experience of 17 year olds speaking to their parents it was about right. Straight off "Kevin the Teenager" when Elizabeth was trying to rule his life, but then later far more reasonable
The thing is Elizabeth messed up her education a bit, so thinks if he just works harder he might do better. But Freddie is probably more like Nigel, struggles academically but has loads of charm when he chooses to use it.

And trying to pry a phone or computer from my DC would result in an argument too. And actually they often have revision apps on them.

Is Freddy doing A'level or GCSE French? If A'level then if he doesn't know the language he's not going to magically be able to do it by Friday (and why hasn't he been sent for a summer to improve his French).

Ceto · 06/06/2017 14:34

I think it must be A level - I don't think he had to retake all his GCSEs, did he? And they are unlikely to have accepted him into an A Level class unless he had some competence.

Eastpoint · 06/06/2017 16:22

He had to retake maths in November, failed & is resitting again this summer. I think he has a paper tomorrow.

Eastpoint · 06/06/2017 17:01

Maths is Thursday, not tomorrow

DoctorTwo · 06/06/2017 17:33

:o That typo is why I usually proofread about a dozen times ppeat! :o

ppeatfruit · 06/06/2017 18:07

It was a funny one Grin Rex and Jazzer an item!

dairyfarmerswife · 06/06/2017 18:40

Did we find out why Pip was ringing Alice the other night? I have a tendency to fall asleep in the middle at the moment (LA, not at 7pm!). I also noticed her ordering soft drinks twice in the last week... At the picnic I can kind of understand her avoiding the prosecco if she was working but bitter lemon in the pub...?

mummytime · 06/06/2017 19:16

Living at lower loxley means Pip has to drive to the Pub

AuldHeathen · 06/06/2017 19:50

I agree Anisha is not especially 'Glasgow blunt' but rather is just 'anywhere blunt'. I'm not sure I like or dislike her, just waiting to see how she plays out. I think as well as growing in a naice part of Glasgow, she also went to a naice school.

I have a soft spot for Freddie and like the way he is portrayed, quite realistically for many teens.

AuldHeathen · 06/06/2017 19:53

Thinking of Scots in TA, does anyone recall if Cameron Fraser sounded Scottish? He certainly had a v Scottish name! I could ask dh for his memories. But that would entail moving off my chair.
