Thank you R4 for the title.

Well it takes all sorts, I read somewhere that men are only fully mature when they reach 37 ! Though I reckon he should use his room for his 'work'. Which he didn't seem to want to do.

Loved Davis's reference to Train Spotting referring to Jill's cold turkey. I got a bad headache when I cut out one real coffee a day, I don't drink normal tea. I can only imagine how crap someone would feel if they drank tea and coffee ALL day, then cut them out. She should have green tea to get over the withdrawal symptoms.

Brian hs gone green at last HOORAY!

redshoeblueshoe · 15/03/2017 10:06

But Josh is only following the example set to him. Ruth stropped off to Australia, and Pip strops off at the end of every conversation but she is the messiah so that's OK

Additional ideas for Huge Canoe:

Freddie watches and then helps the archaeologists discovering a lifelong passion ( Ben could come out of the cornflake cupboard to join him). This leads to a lot of angst from Elizabeth about how she doesn't want him condemned to a life of short term contracts and low pay. It also raises more general debate ( Jim has some very opinionated ideas) as to why archaeology is the lowest paid graduate profession.

Carenza Lewis would make a great archaeological story editor, being an expert on both archaeology and TA.

She should have green tea to get over the withdrawal symptoms.

She has Carol's tea made of twigs. Surely that should be sufficient for anyone's withdrawal symptoms? Wink

TheAntiBoop · 15/03/2017 10:44

Why would green tea help with withdrawal symptoms?

RedBugMug · 15/03/2017 10:47

green tea contains caffeine, it's from the same plant as black tea.

TheAntiBoop · 15/03/2017 10:50

I would have thought something that gives you the feeling of drinking tea but without the caffeine would be better. So a rooibos earl grey for example.

But then IMO Green tea is a poor substitute for black tea!!

TheSilveryPussycat · 15/03/2017 10:57

As to the mead hall, I wouldn't be a patron. Nasty horrid sweet stuff even though it has alcohol in it!

I expect you can still buy it on Lindisfarne, though. Wine Wine

MrsArthurShappey · 15/03/2017 12:23

arti are you an archaeologist? Me too!

MrsArthurShappey · 15/03/2017 12:25

I've just listened to last night's episode and I'm thoroughly unsatisfied! Alice's voice is so annoying, hated that patronising chat with Brine. And David patronising Jill. And Jill's manic cooing was irritating as anything. And entitled Josh. Gah!

educatingarti · 15/03/2017 16:41

Mrs Arthur - strictly a hobby and volunteer one. No actual qualifications in it (though I'm just starting off a bajr skills passport). Do you actually do it for a living? Wow! Wish I had the physical strength and the qualifications.

Here ends the thread derail. As you were everyone! I agree, Pip is so annoying!

ppeatfruit · 15/03/2017 16:44

I know green tea has some caffeine in it, I know it's the leaf of tea before it goes black. DUH Grin BUT it has more antioxidants in it and if you take the tbag out fairly quickly, you get a BIT of caffeine from it to help with the withdrawal symptoms. DD1 says anyhow. I like it with a mint tbag.

Also it depends on which twigs Jill's got in her mixture. They can be very potent; ds's asthma was totlly cured by tea with twigs in it. It was prescribed by a chinese herbalist. AMAZING stuff (stank though).

ppeatfruit · 15/03/2017 16:45

"Totally" cured of course Blush

Gruach · 15/03/2017 19:12

Again Poor Lilian!

How awful having to fight off her millionaire suitor. Her whole life now planned out ...

Grin
IAmNotAUserNumber · 15/03/2017 19:20

I missed a conversation just before Lill blew out Justin. Did Matt return? Shock

GrumpyOldBag · 15/03/2017 19:31

Nobody talks about "The Season" like that any more. Not even people of Justin & Lillian's vintage. And she should also know better how to pronounce Ascot. (rhymes with cut not cot) And the Gold Cup is the day after tomorrow!

GrumpyOldBag · 15/03/2017 19:38

UserNumber - No don't think so. But Justin was getting all presumptuous about weddings.

selsigfach · 15/03/2017 20:03

I'm not sure if Justin is a paradox or just badly written. He's all about the flamboyant romantic gesture but approaches everything like a business deal, the assumed marriage; 'employing' Lillian. I hope they can have a proper talk where Lil sets out what she wants and can show him that their future can be happy without her simply becoming another acquisition, rather than having her just running from a very confused Justin.

Minimammoth · 16/03/2017 06:47

Jim, Robert and Jazzer would love a bit of an Archi dig, I reckon. Bring it on. Pip could fall in a trench or get lost in newly discovered catacombs under Lakey Hill.

Lilian is a funny old bird (funny bizarre not funny ha ha). Why is walking round a lake boring? She seems to want 24 hr excitement , how does she cope with the cramps, arthritis and, digestive problems etc. that generally beset people younger than 70.?

Jim and Robert are like 2 bulldogs fighting over a little bird (idiots).

MrsArthurShappey · 16/03/2017 09:52

Didn't we have a wickering on Lakey Hill? Was Justin the wicker man or Charlie?

mummytime · 16/03/2017 10:00

I'm looking forward to hearing Lilian talking it through with Jolene, after all Jenny is all for "respectability" so of no use.

ppeatfruit · 16/03/2017 10:25

MrsArthur I think it was Charley, burnt as the guy on the Guy fawkes bonfire (I can't remember, it wasn't lst year) It should've been Knob.
